What Students Say

Likes

We are able to meet new friends and we can connect to a lot of people having different mindset and perspective which increases our thinking and comprehensive capacity
We could get alot of programmes and participating in those can enhance our technical and vocabulary skills
We could learn new things and understand the engineering aspects.

Dislikes

Less usage of English makes our vocabulary less as we are more using Malayalam language.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The production engineering is one of the best course. But the faculties are not enough working for the better achievements. There are labs which is useful to learn things better.Subjects are really interesting.

Class Size: 67Course Fees: INR 96500 per year

Internships Opportunities

3.5

It is less compared to other departments. But from this year onwards,as we can sit in the internship and interview of Mechanical Engineering,we may get more opportunities for a better job and life.Equivalency certificate is given as production is a sub in Mechanical engineering.

Fees and Financial Aid

We have 96500 per year.So we have to pay that much fees. And ofcourse we have a lot of scholarships to which we can apply and only one scholarship could be applied and received.Employment opportunities are also high.Even we can sit for Mechanical Engineering placement as we get the equivalency certificate.

Campus Life

This is the best campus life I've ever heard and seen off.Even my seniors tell we won't get such a college life anywhere other than GECT.We have the complete freedom.Seniors are like friends. There is zero ragging and clubs makes us enhance our technical skills.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel Fee is 3k.They don't provide us food.So extra cash should be spend for food.Rent only is the cash we get.Wr have a room in which three students are accomodated and it consists of bathroom. We have seperate study area also.A security also has been provided.

Hostel Fee: INR 3000 per year

Admission

I have got a rank of 19k.And the cut off for production engineering in this college was about 25k.I joined this college in the second allotment in which total three allotments were there. The admission aspects I didn't like was the rush.It was too hot and the same time people were rushing which made difficulty in admission.

Faculty

Most of the teachers are well dedicated and gives us more practical classes so that we can understand the concepts more. But some faculties takes classes for the sake of money only. Not at all dedicated and even they donot complete the syllabus.

Is engineering here worth it?

Likes

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year, project phases.
Fests, events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan, infosys, commandtech, bimlabs, gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA
