Course Curriculum Overview

4

The academics are more inclined towards the litigation side. There is freedom to answer legal questions according to our interpretation, which is what the profession requires. Marks are not awarded to 'right answers', but to the quality of our interpretation of law. Teachers always teach about the latest developments of a particle section. Famous judgements as well as the latest judgements are taught. Prompt conduction of exams and publication of results. However, revaluation usually takes a couple of months.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college has an internship cell. Moreover the faculties issue recommendations to good law firms and institutions. Stipends are not given. The main purpose is to understand and familiarise the court proceedings and the life of an advocate.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee are around 25000 per semester. Usually it increases by 400 - 1500 every year. 250000 is the approx cost of my entire degree ie, BBA LLB (Hons.) (25000 × 10 Sem) Students who come under the reservation categories can avail E Grants provided by the government. The train tickets and a portion of the entrance fees for Moot Court Competitions are reimbursed by the college based on the performance of the students in the competition. There are a lot of opportunities to volunteer for club activities, social services etc like CUSAT Legal Aid Clinic (CULAC), NSS, Quiz Club etc. Political outfits are also active. However, financially productive employment opportunities are absent. However students who Excel in Sports and Arts can participate in various competitions within and outside the university, which provides excellent cash prizes

Campus Life

3

Usually a wide range of Tech, Arts, and Sports fest takes place including -Dishna (tech) Sargam(arts) Kurukshetra, Astra (Sports) and various department festivals and Hostel fests (Sarotsav, Sahara fest, Saspow etc) The department has an extensive collection of books in the library itself. The university library is also available which contains books from every field including literature and fiction. The library also has software such as Manupatra for research purposes for moot court competitions and also has a good digital Library with fine internet connection. Mudra (inter-department), Astra (Intra department), Kurukshetra (Intra Campus) sports festival. University teams are selected in trials and are sent for the South Zone event human rights, Marine Law, Legal Aid, Chess Clubs, Quiz, debate clubs etc are some of the active clubs headed by the students themselves.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel room has two benches, Two beds, Two chairs, 1 Fan, and a cupboard. The room is quite small. It is a shared room between 2 students. An extra Guest can get accommodation with the consent of both the inmates. The hostel also has a study hall with strong free WiFi. The mess is run by the students, and the quality of the food is good. Non Veg items are served 4 times a week at a reasonable rate of around 3000 per month. The hostel is granted based on distance. Students with SC/ST reservation are given priority Not rented a PG.

Admission

Eligibility of the course is 12th Standard Graduation. Anyone who qualifies and gets the necessary cut-off marks for the CUSAT CAT Law entrance exam can get admission at SLS, CUSAT. Students can register for the law entrance after applying through the University website. 50% of the seats are reserved for SC/ST, ETB, MSM, EWS and other reserved categories. Exams are moderately difficult. Limited seats (around 65) for the exam make it challenging The exam is conducted in online mode at the prescribed examination centers. The exam can be improved by focusing more on questions that challenge the literary and reading abilities of the candidates. The exam is focused more on factual knowledge.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty members are highly qualified. All permanent faculty members are qualified with PhD. However, the problem is that temporary faculty members are more than permanent members. Teachers are open to doubt resolution and debates in the class. Great source help in research and Moot Court Competitions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Exams are not conducted timely. There is a big delay in exam conducting. Also, there is some delay due to the widespread of covid 19. Exams are easy to pass if we study well. There are so many books in the library which help us to prepare for the exams.

Like every student I wrote the entrance exam to get a seat from 50 seats allocated in government college. Because of my hard work I got this seat in college along with my school friends. There won't be any donation and interview process, the allotment card is the key to enter into the college.
