Remarks

The college remark depends on the branch in which you study and for my branch, I would recommend my college since the teaching is good, faculties are experienced through some things are lacking but still, you can opt for GCOEA civil engineering. I would rate it as 8.5/10

Entrance Preview

I wanted to pursue Civil Engineering and my marks were not sufficient to get into an IIT or NIT so I had to go for state colleges and back then GCOEA was 4th best institute in Maharashtra for Civil Engineering after COEP VJTI and Sardar Patel. Also, it was near to my hometown and being a Government College the fees is also less which makes it a great option considering rank and economy and study.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My course is Civil Engineering and a far a the curriculum is considered I would give an 8.5/10. The course is perfectly distributed and the level of subjects increases with each semester. The curriculum included both theoretical subjects and practical with some site visits and industrial lectures. I deducted the 1.5 because they don't update the curriculum soon and thus we have to learn old things, for example, drawing a plan on sheets instead of using a software for same. Also, internships should be introduced in the curriculum and made compulsory to everyone.

Internships Opportunities

Well, they do provide internships but one has to go and do all the inquiry and gain the job they don't come to you and give you the same and the students don't go by themselves or aren't aware and thus the internships remain as it is. The awareness about this stuff is very less in my college. As far as the stipend is considered they give allowances for traveling and staying and for some other expenditures also. Rating 5/10.

Placement Experience

3.5

For placements, our college also gets some mass recruiting companies like TCS, Cognizant etc. Other companies which came this year are NEML, Wipro, and 2-3 others But this all are noncore companies and thus the core branches are left jobless though we have Reliance for Civil its Reliance Retail and not construction. Thus we can conclude that the college has placement for noncore branches and not for the core branches. Avg salary 3.3 LPA Max this yr 7.5 LPA

College Events

4

The various events that occur in GCOEA are 1. Late Kalpana Chawla (KC) Trophy This is a sports event and it includes sports like Cricket, Volleyball, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Basketball, Football and some other also including some indoor games like table tennis 2. Zenith This is the Cultural Festival of college and occurs in the month of February usually in the First week. 3. Prajwalan This is the Technical or the Tech-Fest of our college and this also occurs in the month of February. It is central India's largest technical festival.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a Government College the fees of the college is absolutely feasible and everyone can afford it. The fees at my time were For OPEN: 64000 per annum For OBC. : 48000 per annum For SC/ ST: 500 per annum For TFWS. : 12000 per annum Though the fees change every year and it must have increased to 75-80,000 for OPEN now. There are also various scholarships offered by the institute.

Fees and Financial Aid

Various scholarships are offered by the Government of Maharashtra. The scholarships I know are 1. Freeship for OBC candidates which give around 24000rs to students that is half the fees 2. EBC scholarships for open students which is now around 8000rs Others are PTC, Sc St scholarship, and some other are also given by some companies.

Campus Life

3.5

The Campus life in GCOEA is normal and a bit low class but at the same time it is silent and lacks the modern fun because of the small city atmosphere. The Gender ratio is also normal and there are enough boys and girls making it a balanced condition. About the other things asked I have already mentioned them above as a part of cultural and technical fests. They are not the way too good but still, one can enjoy those days and have fun.

Hostel Facilities

4

I haven't taken admission in the college hostel but still, I can review it. The college has 3 boys hostel and 2 girls hostel. The admission in the hotel is merit-based and it is an extremely economical solution to stay since the fees are very less. It is around 700 per annum for Open or General Category. The mess food is also satisfactory, they provide nonveg once a week and sweet every Sunday. The mess fees are around 1600 per month.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is strong and we have an alumni meet every year. The meet comprises of the students who have graduated before 25 years. The meet occurs in the month of December. They do provide scholarships to some students and help them in studies also they help in the development of the college.

Exam Structure

Every Semester the exam pattern goes like this 1. Class Test 1: "15" marks for each subject 2. Class Test 2: "15" marks for each subject 3. End Semester Examination: "60" marks for each subject 4. Teachers assessment: "10" marks for each subject Thus total "100" marks.

Admission

At my time the Government carried CAP (Central Allotment Process) rounds for admitting students into various state colleges. First we have to fill the form from the DTE website and we have to give preferences to various colleges mentioning the branch and then the rounds are held and a merit list is prepared and accordingly, seats are given to students. If you are not satisfied with round one you can go for round 2 and then 3 and this is how the process goes. After the college is allowed go to the respective college with all the necessary documents and complete the admission procedure.

Faculty

5

I would assess the faculty of Civil Engineering Department of GCOEA. Our faculty is highly experienced with a lot of them having experience of 20 + years and yes they are way too strict. These faculties don't teach in 1st yr they start teaching from 2nd yr and from then the Haunting life if Civil Engineering department begins. They have ample knowledge to clear your concepts and they take classes regularly and also a minimum of 75% attendance is compulsory. The practicals are taught by M.Tech students and are guided by the senior faculties. Overall I would rate the faculty of my department as 9.3/10 in teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soo ever since kid i was interested in bikes this interest was all for me to take this course , my father is very bike enthusiast and it came down to me , i could easily take mechanical and other engineering cause these are common courses which involves automobile , but since i wanted to follow my passion , i wanted to do specialization in automobile itself and DPCOE was offering this course with great facilities and knowledge providing us a path in this lane of career in this field. According to me curriculum prepares us quite well as they conduct workshop which are relevant to outside world where we'll be working. If there were more practical workshops for us to work on would be great cause automobile engineering is all about practicals rather than theoroticals Professor should try teaching in physical part rather than taking lectures and explaining the concept by just words

Yes there is placement cell of STES which is no different than other tier 3 engineering colleges offering a tier 3 average package depending on who is the recruiter. Students become eligible for campus from 3rd year of their degree. Highest package is something around 55 lakhs offered to a computer engineering student, and average is just like I said for a tier 3 college 5-6 lakhs(above or below). Almost everyone gets placed in the company but some might not.
