Course Curriculum Overview

3

The college undergoes the Kalam Technological University curriculum, which teaches irrelevant subjects according to the current market scenario. Computer Science Engineering curriculum is trying to teach the candidate to become a basic software engineer, but that is not enough in this high demanding market. But the core basics are well taught, which are essential for interviews and having a base knowledge. Exams are conducted liberally, and most semester exams would have enough time between each exam. Internal exams conducted by the college are actually rushed, but since only a very few portions would be for the exams, it does'nt matter.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internships are generally provided off-campus, so college doesn't provide any internships directly. But the faculties can help us by referring us to their connections for getting an internship. They will have connections with their passed out students working in different companies, by which we can get into some internships.

Placement Experience

4

The Placement cell is active in our college, and they are doing their best to bring companies that provide a good package. For this year they have got hands with some good companies like Soti, TCS, Sutherland,etc..., when compared to previous year. I have seen candidates getting placed for the least package around 3LPA and best package around 12LPA, so I have high hopes on the Placement cell that I will get a good placement. Most of the years around 80% students will get placed, and the rest of them goes for higher studies or entrepreneurships. I'm planning to get placed in a good company for a good package, and I have started my preparations for that.

Fees and Financial Aid

According to my knowledge, the tution fees are determined by the government, so it's uniform among most of the Private Engineering Colleges. For a semester, they are charging 44,000 for the general management students. Students like me who have cracked the Engineering Entrance or had more than 90% marks in their 12th grade will get scholarships accordingly. Other than that, students can apply for Central and State government scholarships according to their category. I have received the Minority Cum Means Scholarship from the central government which was 30,000 per year. These are the ways students can reduce their college fees. There were no other paid roles inside the college to earn a living.

Campus Life

4

I had a great life out there at Jyothi Engineering College. When compared to other private engineering colleges, we had the least restrictions to be faced, but that doesn't mean we had all the freedom. The most exciting part of the college is the Annual Technical fest named "Tharang", which is the inter-department flagship event which consists of technical programs like Hackathons, workshops and more, and also non-technical events like arts and dance stages, games, etc. When coming to academics the college has different labs for each department, and a library common to all. It has many books available and accessing them are pretty easy. There's union election and Union Day which is great. Also there are technical clubs like TinkerHub, IEDC, GDSC etc... which helps students in improving their skills.

Admission

I got admitted to the course through the Kerala Engineering Entrance (KEAM) examination, in which I cracked a rank of around 15K. The first allotment that I recieved was for Computer Science and Engineering at my college, so it was a straight-forward process. After the allotment the college will conduct an admission drive in which all the forms and details will be explained, also the scholarships provided by the college will be explained on that day. Management and NRI seats will be filled even before the allotment processes, and it's based on a first come first serve manner. The entrance exam is quite easier when compared to other ones, so cracking a good rank and getting into an engineering college would be easier.

Faculty

4

The assigned faculties to the respective departments do have the best qualification, but most of them lack the love and skills to teach a student. They have enough knowledge within them, but some of them fails in bringing that information to the students, while most of the faculty members are the best at teaching. Some departments have large number of students which increases the faculty-to-student ratio, but it's average in most branches. Teachers are ready to help anyone who requires help, and haven't got any bad experience from any staff.

Other Applied Colleges

Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad - [CUCEK] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Information Technology)

The infrastructure of the college was bad and was situated far away from my hometown

Placement Experience:

Upon reaching s7 students are invited for campus placement but they have to pass different criteria to become eligible for attending the interview, a minimum cgpa of 7.5 and academic skills a these are the basic requirements and an aptitude test will be given and in further selection these criteria are looked. I plan on pursuing a job after completing by btech. More than half the students in a batch are getting placed usually.
