Entrance Preview
I entered DCE through the engineering entrance exams hosted by the college. I scored rank 237 among 2 lakh student aspirants who took the exam. The choice of course was decided by my rank and my interest to pursue an engineering degree.
Course Curriculum Overview
DCE is extremely famous for its Mechanical Engineering. Perhaps, it was rated ahead of all the Indian Engineering Colleges and only behind IITs offering Mechanical Engineering as the course at that time.
Internships Opportunities
No, the college did not have any internship for bachelor's degree. But for Masters and Ph.D, they had a stipend program.
Placement Experience
Placement and job opportunities were best among the engineering colleges. I take pride in announcing that each of the students in our class had at least 2-3 jobs in their hand even before writing the final exams.
College Events
We used to have Engineering Festival annually. In addition, there were inter-college competition to show case your talent around practical engineering, modelling, debates, current affairs, music, dance, quiz etc. During the college festivals, we also had a chance to know the students of other professional colleges as they were also invited to participate in the cultural competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee-structure was quite feasible and affordable. The college used to charge an annual fee of approx. 48,000 per year.
Campus Life
As per estimates, gender ratio Boys:Girls was 55:45, however the ratio had a huge variance from course to course.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the alumni was available for help. Its just that the students were so busy in their own stuff, they sought help more from the professors rather than students. However, whenever asked, senior students willingly helped through past question papers or notes.
Exam Structure
We had semester system, 8 semesters in all. Exam and labs kept us adequately busy (not hectic at all) with enough time for extra-curricular activities.
Faculty
The faculty was experienced and extremely learned. Particularly, the core subjects were taught with excellent command on the subject. The core subjects included - Strength of Materials, Metallurgy, I.C. Engines, Applied Mechanics, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, Machine Design, Thermal Engineering and Engineering Design and Drarwing
