Course Curriculum Overview

The specific aspect of curriculum is that it exposes the student to the actual applications of data science in the real world . The exams are held monthly once. Their difficulty level can be rated moderate.

Class Size: 2000Course Fees: INR 50000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees of the program is 2.2 lakhs . Hence 4 50000 per year is required. The institute provides the fee waiver for students on basis of parental income. For students with parental income between 1 lakh to 5 lakhs 50% of tuition fees is waived off and for students having parental income less than 1 lakh per annum 75% of tuition fees is waived off

Campus Life

The annual fest is named as paradox in which all the online students are also welcomed. It comprises of wide ranging activities from extracurricular activities to online gaming . There are many online groups of students which are inclined for a special cause , same as a club in offline mode. For example my friend is a part of Google student developer club of iitm online degree

Admission

It's an online Degree. I am actually studying in IISER Bhopal in offline mode pursuing full time degree. The admission procedure for IIT Madras online degree is through 2 ways . Either students are required to qualify for JEE advance through JEE mains or they have to clear the qualifier exam to get enrolled , which is the most followed path

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is quite huge because the course is online but technically it's 1:1 as a student is only learning from a single faculty at a time while watching his / her lectures. There are 3 exams , namely 2 quizzes and 1 end semester exam

Likes

There are many courses including post graduation.
Faculties are well expertise and has good mentorship quality
The fees are affordable to pay for the course I have selected

Dislikes

Need to improve the infrastructure of the college
Crowded canteen it would be better if we have one more
There is some hygienic issues in the washrooms could be better if it is hygiene

THE IDEAL COLLEGE LIFE!

Likes

The opportunities to meet new people and interact with a whole new circle of people by Club Activities as there are quite a lot of clubs according to the student's interest.
Many places to showcase our singing and dancing talent once we join the club or take part in any of the department events.
They have multiple labs for a single department so that the students get a lot of hands on training for coding and as well as hardware.

Dislikes

4:3 Ratio of Girls to Boys in my class and i hope it's the same for all the departments as well.
The college timing can go from 8:30 AM to 5:10PM.
The 75% attendance is kind of doable and maintainable to an extent.

Placement Experience:

about 70 to 80 percent of the students get placed afdter the colleg and the ones not placed also gets placed after the college with high network and communication from other contacts within the college, ZOHO Corp does take placements and i am preparing for my CAT exams as i am planning for My highers at IIM, 5th semester is when the students become eligible for the campus placements and the seniors are a good connection who help to get places and get a job after the completion of degree.

Hostel , mess food and mess hall , no facilities for marine practical

Teaching methods of marine faculties are excellent but in my course they add some additional subject like tamil and hindi which are useless and no neede for a mariner as the marine faculties are good in teaching and explaining but they also having difficulty in teaching as the requirements didn't meet from the college management

Is IITM BS degree in Data Science worth

Students have to give an entrance exam conducted by IITM itself, the fee for which is 3000 INR(1,500 INR for SC/ST) but JEE students who have qualified for JEE Advanced don't need to give the exam but have to register for the program by paying the same fee. Students from any background can avail for this Degree if they have English and Maths as the main subject in 10th class, there is no age barrier as well. After the registration you will be enrolled in program and they will provide you 4 weeks of content, the exam will come from these content only. There is no cutoff for this exam but you have to score minimum 40% in qualifier exam to continue program(35% for OBC/EWS and 30% for SC/ST). The registraion opens three times a year i.e.November,June and August the time may vary a little bit....Read More
