Likes

Professors are good (some). Friendly to interact with
This is a big college with ample space to sit around.
Offices work really well. Like they take care of things on their own on behalf of the students.

Dislikes

Canteen is very Unhygienic. Not enough options to eat.
Infrastructure is poorly maintained. Student desks, blackboard are broken
Washrooms are not cleaned properly. Unhygienic

As i have said before here teachers dont care about a student's academic performance. I have heard from my seniors that difficulty level of Bba subject exams are very high. They don't really prepare you for the real world they just care about their fees. They don't placements as such rarely a student gets placed. I took admission here because of the attendance leniency. Teachers here are very lazy they dont come and teach. Everyday 1-2 lecture teachers dont take their classes. Improvements they can have is care a bit more about the academic performance of students

No internships no placements provided by this college only the topper student gets an opportunity to showcase their self but an average student gets zero opportunity from this college. There is no exposure you'll have to find internships on ur own they'll provide a link to u through WhatsApp at the starting of your course register it and till ur degree gets completed nothing will happen. So you are on your own

Campus Life

Honestly the clubs here are not good. No meetings. Nothing. There is a social group called red ribbon club but since i have taken admission here I haven't seen anything social happening. Desks and blackboards are broken and dirty. There is no technology other than fans and lights in the classroom. Library is good. Sports is also good. Festivals that happen here is just youth festival.

Admission

I applied to all the colleges in Chandigarh but my first preference was this college because again leniency in attendance because I didn't wanted to go to the college on daily basis i want to work along with my studies for money and also experience. I didn't get rejected as such from any college i just didn't try to get in their.

Faculty

Professors here are friendly as such but they dont care if the student is serious towards his/her academic performance but exceptions are always there so some are really good. Marking here is very strict as they earn money by failing student because one reappear cost- 3000 rupees and revaluation costs about 800. There are total 2 examinations in one semester which includes mid terms and final also practicals

Good College with Decent Fees

Likes

Air Conditioned Classrooms and good wifi
There are many technical and social clubs like IEEE and IETE
Fests and Campus life are good. Many companies visit the campus for placements

Dislikes

75% attendence is mandatory to be eligible for final exams
Strict Dress Code and hostel restrictions are there in the campus
Only 2 food courts are there in the whole campus and very crowdy

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is industry oriented.I choose this course as I liked working with Hardware. The curriculum prepares for real world applications and Hands-On Project The frequency and exams are easy to moderate level.

PEC - History and optimism

Likes

The campus is over 100 years old and has strong alumini network.
Placements are good as per my rank in JEE
Peer group is good and there are diversed people all around

Dislikes

Infrastructure is really old; but then again legacy comes at a cost.
Campus is smaller as compared to NITs and IITs ; so is the funding
Its still not an institute of national importance. Has no nation wide recognition

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Syllabus is good, it is very versatile and updated according to the industry standards
The University also has a good events and also a good night life
The infrastructure is very modern with unique outlets to eat in

Dislikes

There is a uniform system which is very bad according to university
Very strict rules regarding in and out of the University
The outlets in university are quite expensive

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

Likes

Good facilities, really teaches student and give individual attention in class too
Good infrastructure , as it was just built in 2021, the infrastructure is top notch and no complaints about it.
Papers are being checked anonymously, one’s paper can be checked by any teacher in any campus, so no chance of partiality

Dislikes

80% strict attendance criteria other they would not allow to sit in exam
Passing criteria is 40% and grading system is also bery difficult, two D grade is 1 F and more than 2F could lead to year repeat year, not even semster
Alot of assigments, really hectic at times

Placement Experience:

We have avergae package of 12 lpa and 57lpa highest, i am not aware of how mqny placed. As such i have plan to get placed but if things didnt go out as planed then mba or mtech maybe. Our campus just opened recently so there is no much information but our placements are central that means, companies visting mumbai have to visit us too, and u can refer mumbai campus placement for our campus because its counted on central level and not varries campus to campus

Remarks:

There are very limited art college in india and GCA Chandigarh is 1 of them. I opted for printmaking because I wanted to explore different mediums of expression. The college is well equipped with faculty experienced in their own particular mediums aswell as exploring new mediums. You will get the freedom to build you creativity.

My experience with admissions in college at Sri guru Gobind Singh are : Admission process is 10+2 with 50% marks Admission form available in college website and DHE website also. Application fee around for BA is 700 And admission start when 12th results declared Their is no enterance exam. Their is no clear guild lines to fill the form . Application process of this course was quite confusing for the freshman students at the time of my admission as the elegibility criteria was only 12th class but students struggled to take admission as the admission was based on the percentage of 12th class . Due to which quota students got much more benefits as compared to general students. The average cutoff goes on to 90 percent aggregate in 12th class. And the students who got more percentage got admission through counselling list. I didnt like only thing about admission that the general students needed above 90 percentage for admission but quota students needed only above 60 Percentage so their admission was quite easy as compared to general students which is quite unfair bcz sometimes the deserving candidate doesn't gets admission because of seats acquired by quota students...Read More
