Course Curriculum Overview

5

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

Fees and Financial Aid

Study at Chitkara Univ. My fee is 3 lakh per year. This covers tuition, lab, dev, exam, and other must pay charges. In year one, I paid admit and reg fee near 20k and a refund sec fee near 5k to 10k. These one time fees are not paid again. The full cost for four years is near 12 lakh for course only. Hostel and mess are extra and cost near 80k to 1.2 lakh per year. So full spend can cross 15 lakh. Fees have gone up for new batch. Senior batch paid less than us. Fee is same for Gen, SC, ST in bill. SC ST use govt aid to get refund. Uni gives merit and need aid but seats are few and not all get it.

Campus Life

5

My overall campus life at Chitkara Univ has been active and social. The crowd is mixed from many states, so you get good peer mix and exposure. There are many events through the year which keeps campus lively. The main annual fest is Explore, usually held around Feb or March. There are also tech events and hack type fests by tech clubs during the sem. These events give stage to sing, dance, code and manage events. It helps in net build and conf gain. The library is decent with good range of core engg books, ref books and some journals. You can issue books easily with ID card. There is also digital access to some e books and study mat. For deep res work, you may still need extra online source. Classrooms are smart rooms with proj, screen and WiFi. Labs have updated sys for coding and other tech subj. Most rooms are clean and AC works fine. Sports infra is good. There are grounds for foot, cricket and basket ball. Indoor games like TT and gym are also there. Many inter college events take place. There are many student clubs like tech club, dance club, music club, NSS type social group and entre cell. These groups help in skill build and make campus life more fun and less boring. Overall life is busy and you get many chance to grow if you take part.

Admission

I chose Chitkara Univ over a few other pvt colleges in Punjab and nearby states because of its brand name, campus infra, and decent place stats. I had also applied to CU, LPU and a state engg college. I got confirm seat from CU and LPU, but I chose Chitkara as its tech branch and campus env felt more focused and less crowded. The labs and infra looked better during visit. I did not get into a top govt college as my rank was not strong enough in JEE. My prep was not at that level and cut off was high, so I could not make it there. That was mainly due to low score, not any other issue. The admit process at Chitkara is simple. For BTech, 10+2 with PCM and min 60 percent is needed. JEE score is accepted but not must for all seats. Many students take seat based on 12th marks and then do counseling at campus. There is direct apply on site, doc check, fee pay and seat confirm. Cut off is not very high like govt college. The overall admit exp was smooth and fast, with no major issue.

Faculty

4

Faculty ratio is near 1:50 in most core class. Some prof are kind and easy to reach after class. They guide in proj and career. A few just read slides and rush. I liked Prof Rajeev for DSA and Dr Meenakshi for DBMS as they teach with real code and clear doubt well. Some others focus more on rule than teach, which feels dull. Each sem has two mid test and one end term. There are quiz, lab and viva too. Marks are near 40 int and 60 end term. Exams are fair if you study. Fail rate is low but core tech can be tough. Course has new tech but some part is old theory.

Night Life

4

Night life near Chitkara Univ is not like metro city vibe, but students still find ways to chill. Campus has fixed in time. Hostel gate usually closes around 9 to 10 pm for boys and earlier for girls. After that you need entry pass. Campus main gate also has strict check. Library and academic block close in evening, mostly by 6 or 7 pm. Gym and sports area also shut by evening. Cafeteria inside campus stays open till evening only, not full night. So late night scene is mostly inside hostel rooms. Inside campus, students hang out in canteen area, open lawns and hostel common room. Outside campus, popular spots are small cafes and food points near Rajpura side. Many go for late tea, maggi or cafe visit in group before gate time. Some also plan weekend movie or mall visit in Chandigarh which is around one hour away. Locality near campus is mostly safe but quiet at night. It is not very crowded after 9 pm, so students usually move in group. Security is present at campus gate which adds saf
