Graphic Era University, Dehradun- A College review

The course curriculum is fine. For my course, i chose this specialization because i thought that doing ACCA side by side would give me a boost in my career. The curriculum includes all the necessary subjects and topics the make the students thorough with commerce and economics. Certain measures can be taken to make the tesching methods more fun like quizzes, interactive sessions, etc. so that the students dont lose interest. Apart from exams, we also have several assignments that are to be done within the given time period.

There were several interships which were offered to us, but they were MSME internships, which means they asked us to pay them a certain amount, then only they allowed us to take part in the internship and not a small amount but approximately 3500-5500 rupees per domain, which is a lot. As a college student, i expect them to provide internships that pay us a certain amount as stipend and even if they dont pay, they shouldn't ask for money from us. The companies were a lot like wipro, corizo, Ozibook, etc, but all of them were charging money.

The fees for my course, i.e. Bachelor of Commerce(Hons.) International Accounting and Finance is roughly around 470000 rupees. This fee includes bus transport, library fee, extracurricular, etc. The specialization under this course, i.e. ACCA has a fee of 22000 rupees per semester. Batchmates have a comparatively lower fee at 400000-450000 rupees as they are not paying for the specialization. Apart from that, scholarships are available for students as per their grades in class 12th. For 95-100%- 21500 rupees per semester For 90-94%- 16500 rupees per semester For 85-89%- 10500 rupees per semester

Our college hosts the biggest college fest in the whole of dehradun, the GraFest, a three day event wherein the celebrities make the crowd go crazy. Apart from that, our college celebrstes all the festivals with great enthusiasm and decorations. Coming to the library, our libraries have a lot of books for every genre and are equipped with computers for those who want to access e-material, but some of them don't work and this really bugs me out. The classrooms are equipped with smart panels for online and better learning, but there are certain issues with the electricity department. There were instances where once the electricity cuts, we had to sit with no fans in such a hot weather. This should be fixed. There are all the sports available in our campus but some of them open in the evening only and that should not be happening as sports can be played anytime. There are multiple clubs and societies in our college, be it the literature club, finance and investment cell, National Service Scheme (NSS), National cadet corps( NCC) etc. The students can join these clubs and utilise their time in something good.

The reason why i chose this college is because of the fact this college was offering a better course at a reasonable fee than most other colleges in India. I had applied to many different collegea and universities, including Delhi University, Mumbai University, etc. I cleared both of them but the cost of living was very high as compared to Dehradun. Also, the course they were offering didn't have any specialization. So, i didn't go with those options. My college accepts Class 12th scores andCUET scores. The admission process is not that difficult and you need to just make sure that you have all the documents with you and a good result.

For one teacher, there are almost 80-90 students in a class. Teachers try to maintain a healthy relationship with the students but some students dont allow as they create chaos. It sometimes becomes difficult even for the teacher to handle the class this big. There are some faculties i liked a lot becauss they really take the interest in teaching their students while there are some who just come to the class, give the lecture and leave. That makes me question the fact that why did i even join the class if this is the behavior of the teacher. Coming to the examination structure, there are two exams in a semester, one mid semester and one end semester examination. The quality of the exam is decent, not so difficult and not so easy either. The course curriculum is also fine. It takes into consideration all the key points for a commerce student.
