Course Curriculum Overview

3

Law opens the door to several job prospects and my dream as a child to be a part of the judiciary has influenced me to choose the course. The curriculum prepares definitely prepares me for higher legal studies and have a strong foundation in legal knowledge. SNU needs to improve the quality of faculty they have and there's a long way to improvement. End semester exams are held over a period of every 4-5 months, they conduct MSA in between each semester. The set the papers really tough.

Internships Opportunities

2

The office staff while admission procedure claimed that the university provides paid internship to the students and helps them work and learn under perfectly experienced leaders. They provide internships from the start of 6th or 7th semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

Sister Nivedita University Kolkata offers several law programmes and I have opted for BA.LLB (hons) where my annual fees stands upto ?37000 as I was awarded scholarship from the University based on merit (100% scholarship on tuition fee). I belong to general category thus I've been conferred with any other privilege. In a contrary, my benchmates who haven't been awarded any scholarship have to make an annual payment of ?12500. The university offers several scholarship programmes such as Aikyashree scholarship and helps the students get the most out of every mean available.

Campus Life

2

The university didn't organise even a fresher's programme for the students, they organise alot of fests but don't look out for the 1st year students involvement. The library has a wide range and collection of books, the books are easy to access. They run several groups, clubs and portals and that impacts the students significantly.

Hostel Facilities

2

The room provided by the hostel is just average with a bed and almirah only. The quality, taste, flavour and smell of the food is just tacky and awful. Registration process is a bit time consuming and it's exorbitant, not at all pocket friendly. Locality: Ae block, New town Action area 1 kolkata.

Admission

While I was looking out for colleges, I had applied to satyabhama institute of science and technology, Xavier's law college bhubaneswar, Christ University Pune and several others. I had got selected in all of the above mentioned colleges but had to take admission in SNU as I'm a resident of west Bengal and Kolkata is the most nearest and accessible city to my home. My family was not in favour of sending me to different state altogether with unknown different culture and unaware societal pattern. Moreover, SNU offered me 100% scholarship on tuition fees while the above mentioned colleges have exorbitant fee structures. I had applied for CUET entrance test targeting BHU but unfortunately I couldn't appear for the cuet exam and couldn't make it. The admission process to my college is really simple. One needs to apply for the online registration then visit the campus for documents verification, after making a deposit of ?30000 as admission fee along with the 1st semester fee, they confirm their admission.

Faculty

2

The faculty to student ratio is 1:10. Average faculty student relationship as they show zero interest in problem solving and improving their commitments to the students. They are not approachable as they believe in knocking the props out and making you feel undervalued. Name of the faculty I liked: Ms. Mishti Saha, i like her for her work ethics, she is consistent, does her job well. She is kind, diligent and responsible. Name of the faculty I didn't like: Mrs Somanjana. She's just too lazy to do her work. She is very mean and she looks tired, sleepy and uninterested 24/7.

Night Life

3

There's no good place to hangout near the college. Campus timing is from 8 am to 6 pm. Hostel in timing is 9pm Axis mall is one of the most famous hangout spot near the college but the area around it doesn't seem to be safe for girls at night.

Other Applied Colleges

St. Xavier's College - [SXC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (English)

My credentials better aligned to law and law has several job prospects. St. Xavier's college autonomous has always been my dream college but they don't offer any professional course, so I couldn't join the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was always intrested in societal issues and how to deal with the social demons and that why i choose law as my course subjects The course teaches you the tmrules towards the course of society. It teachers us every nooks and cracks of the society and how to deal with them The course will teach you the bookish values and is completely oblivious towards the real life outside the books the practical is different when it comes to working in courts. There are internships but until you enter into the world of law and practice on your own you won't get a grasp of any understanding One year ending exams with 2 practical papers and the difficulty level depends on the depth of the student

Course Curriculum Overview:

Law as a course has developed throughout the years and there are only a few shortcomings in the studying aspect of it. Law, in a broad sense, can be applied to almost each and every problems that citizens of India face, be it corporate law, criminal, civil law. In an even broader sense, there is Constitutional law. A major fault in the teaching and course is the excessive teaching of landmark judgements and lesser number of moot courts which in practice might land young lawyers in trouble coming from the judiciary since they're just too much aware of different landmark judgements but not the cases/context behind it. Mainly, four exams are held which concern the actual marks- Internals and Externals. First internal and external is typically held on January or February and Second internal and external during July or August.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always wanted to pursue law so I chose this course. Government college provides the best faculty and my college takes regular students to attend various seminars in WBNUJS or any such seminar Our College have LLM-completed teachers, some are PHD holder as well. The exam happens every six months. It's easy to pass only if you study properly but CU check copies strictly, it's hard to get more than 90.
