Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course which I have opted i.e, Electronics and Instrumentation was because the scope for electronics in the near future is increasing rapidly and also I was quite interested in electrical circuits and devices from my very childhood. In DSCE we have proper labs for different aspects concerning electronics which help us with in hand practical knowledge and expertise in the subject. The labs are well maintained and the faculty for my department are good and supportive and have a good knowledge/expertise in their subject. Small internals for 50 marks are conducted three times per semester along with some sort of quizzes or a small class test which together constitutes the CIE and has total weightage of 50 Marks. There is a final exam known as SEE which is conducted for 100 marks and is reduced to 50 marks. So we are evaluated for a total of (CIE+SEE) 100 marks per semester

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement cell of the college helps the student with their placements and internships and are sufficiently good in providing the internships and Placements to the students. Students get eligible for internships from the 3rd year/5th semester. There is both paid and unpaid internships available for the students which provides them with top notch industrial experience and an insugh5as to how the things work in the industries.

Placement Experience

4

DSCE is pretty good with placements. For this year i.e, 2024 the placement rate was of 97% across all the courses. The average package for all the branches of BE was 5 LPA and for CS+Electronics/Electrical branches in BE the average package was of 10 LPA. The placement cell of the college is quite active and help the students for getting placements Students become eligible for placement after completing their 7th semester. My main plan after completing my BE is to clear Grade A Government exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the students entering through Management it's around 3.5 lakhs/yr. For the students entering through COMEDK it's 3.2 lakhs in which 2.8 lakhs was paid as college fees through the COMEDK website and 32000 was paid at the college as the lab and other miscellaneous fees. For the students entering through KCET it's only around 1.15 lakhs.

Campus Life

4

My experience in the campus of DSCE is quite good. The campus is vibrant and lively due to a huge intake of students across various courses. There is always something or the other going on in the campus. The infrastructure and the facilities present in the campus is quite good. There are plenty of events being conducted regularly which helps to build social connections for the students. As in for the available clubs.. For non technical clubs we have CPA which primarily has the dancing, singing, act, etc under its domains and is the main heart for the non technical events and fests conducted on our college. For the technical clubs we have Point Blank which is the coding club and has a good Coding culture. We also have the team ARCIS and Team DSCE Motorsports which are the aviation and car building clubs respectively. We also have Mudita which is the social help group and conducts regular visits to old age homes and orphanages across various locations.

Admission

I choose DSCE on the basis of my marks and rank obtained by me in COMEDK, this was the best college which I can get for electronics. As in the admission process, we have three entries: 1. Management 2. COMEDK 3. KCET After clearing exams (for COMEDK and KCET) we sit for counseling conducted by the organisation related to the exam which then allots is the college on the basis of application of different students and our rank For Management, there is a seperate application released by the college for which we have to contact the college authorities. The most preferred exam for the students from Karnataka is KCET and for the students from all over India it's COMEDK. Both the students from the state and from all over India students can easily apply through Management. My overall admission experience was quite smooth and I didn't face any major problems during the admission process

Faculty

4

The faculty for the first year students is good for every subject except for the CAED i.e, Computer Aided Engineering Drawing. The faculty for the subjects and the lab has a good knowledge and experience about their subject and they also help us to clear our doubts if any. Most of the faculty members prefer the teaching method of writing and teaching rather than just giving a verbal teaching which is to good for the students to understand and grasp the topic in a better way. So the examination and evaluation pattern is quite hectic in DSCE.....???????? They conduct three internals for every subject which has a maximum marks of 50 and the average of these 3 internals are taken and the score is then awarded out of 30 marks. They have small quizzes and activities for every subject which has a in total weightage of 20 marks . The final or the SEE is for 100 marks which is then reduced to 50 marks. So the total marks is 30+20+50=100 The exams are quite easy and can be easily cleared.

Interview Experience

5

No, there were no GD, interview questions or test patterns conducted for us of any sort. We were admitted in DSCE on the basis of the COMEDK counselling only. We only has to submit the required documents during reporting and admission.

Night Life

4

DSCE is situated in kumarswamy Layout which is a well established place with various kind sof shops and retailers in and around. There are lot of places to eat near our college which offers good food with good prices. There are also a lot of small parks here and there which are perfect for spending our time in a calm environment. Students often roam and spend their time at night on the streets having fun with their friends at shops. There are several gyms available in and near the college campus in the kumarswamy Layout which is great for fitness enthusiasts. There are a great number of food outlets here and there which helps to get out of the boredom of having pg/hostel food daily. The hostels in the college has a restriction time till 21:30 for the students who are coming from outside and the college gates get closed. The hostel gates gets closed at 22:00. The locality is quite safe for the students to roam outside without much fear of their safety.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
