GITAM - From the inside

The curriculum of our college is best. They change it update the curriculum every second year so that the curriculum is as near to the industry as possible. The CSBS branch curriculum of our college is designed by TCS members.

Since I am still a second year student, I am not much aware of internships in our college. But few of our seniors are in internships and during internship , the students need to come and give mid and semester exams.

7th and 8th semester students are eligible for campus placements. I think there is a minimum CGPA required to attend placement training which is 7 CGPA. But throughout the B.tech right from the first semester, Class classes are held where external trainers come to our college and give training in English, soft skills , aptitude etc. About 40 percent students get placed.

The yearly fee for 2023 admitted batch in B.Tech CSE Dept. Is around 250000(it varies for everyone). There are scholarships based the scores of GAT ( Gitam Admission Test). I didn't avail this scholarship because I didn't write the GAT exam.

Our college has an excellent campus life. There are about 10 clubs in total and KALAKRITI, CODEX, STARBURS , G STUDIO etc are prominent ones. These clubs range from coding clubs to arts clubs and photography club. There is atleast few events every week held by various clubs. There is a Student Life Department in College which supervise these clubs. Coming to college fests , there are 2 main fests every year. They are PRERANA. AND SHORE fests. And there are sports like Badminton, Basketball, Football, kabaddi, Cricket, Volleyball available in our college.

Hostel facilities are very good. There is wifi , Hot water almost everytime. Rooms and washrooms are cleaned everyday. For laundry there are washing machines. The food in hostel is not up to mark according to me. There are people who like it but I don't like it. The menu is big and they serve good number of varieties everyday but none of it tastes good. Chicken is provided three times a week.

I have applied to various colleges and even got seat in some of them. iI applied in college like VIT , SRM , LPU ,Amritha etc. But finally I shortlisted GITAM and Lpu considering its fee which is way lesser than other colleges mentioned above. My family was not ready to send me to LPU as it was very far away so finally I joined GITAM. To get admitted in Gitam , students can apply directly or write GAT. If we qualify in GAT , students can get scholarships based on their score.

Most of the faculty are kind and approachable. The faculty help us in doubts. Our exam pattern is 70-30. 70 for internals and 30 for external semester exams. Internals including Mid exams , quizzes , assignments , seminars etc.Passing the course is easy and the pass marks are 24 for internals and 10 for externals.

The Campus timings are 8 to 5 in evening. The classes are from 8 to 4. The last hour is for other works like submissions and few times extra classes. We have a cafe called Gitam Cafe in college and food here is good with various cuisines. The library is open from 8 in the morning to 10 at night. Evening hosteller should be inside hostel building by 9.
