Course Curriculum Overview

5

I am doing btech the and the most important thing I believe in BTech is practical knowledge and up to date technology. There are basic science subjects offered in the 1st year like material science, physics, chemistry etc and python is also included in the 2nd semester which is best time to get started with python mostly the whole coding. Then they go with subjects like DSA, cloud computing, web dev, maching learning and moreee. Subjects like prepare my mind(I can't tell about others.) get ready for the real world no matter the technologies get changed day to day these prepare me learn them in fast and accurate manner that is the one of the best reason I applied here. The final exams are here are good there are 4 sections one question to attempted from each and 2 questions from one section each is question is for 14 marks which concluded is 70 the time allowed is 3 hours which I think is enough.

Internships Opportunities

1

To be honest I haven't given any interview for internship or I haven't involved in the any internship programme but from seniors I know that internship programs from good companies like TCS and tech mahindra.also there are MSME programs going for internship I do get a lot of messages for their internship programs. The stipend I know is around 10 to 15k per month

Placement Experience

3

We become eligible from starting for any job it just based on your skill I am in the 1st semester and I do get offers from company. The highest package offered here is 14lakh per year the company I forgot it was on a poster in the college campus. The average package is 7lakh per annum. The companies are TCS , tech Mahindra , reliance, Accenture and many more.i do have plans to do PhD in CSE so may be doing mtech after this.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of gndu(rc) jalandhar btech(CSE) course goes like 1.5lakh yearly which includes 2 semesters the odd semester fees is 89845/- and the even semester fees is around 50k/- which stays same for all 4 years and there is a scholarship program which gives 100% scholarship on family income less than 5lakh and many private scholarships exams are available like one came from company reliance and many more. For students belonging to Sc and other categories I do think 90% of the fees is cut or it may be 100%.

Campus Life

5

The social aspect is good in campus. The senior are very friendly and the friends I met in the class I am pretty sure they are my friends till death. There are events organised by our senior the last event was milan-e-bihar which was a cultural. The communities are the best there are communities like python ,app dev,web dev, cybersecurity etc. which where I would say the best they were very informative these where also run by our seniors.

Admission

I closed this college because this is the most reputed college in my city. I did applied to other colleges but I would go there if I wouldn't be able to make it here. This is the best in the city. The admission process is informative and simple. It all starts with online form and then a short list is made after that you are called for counseling that is where you are offered courses based on percentage on 4 subjects physics maths chem eng also. After that you apply for the Desired course for which again you get shortlisted and you then after making all the shortlisted you get selected. ???? The exams were 12th and jee (optional). The compulsory is 12th the cutoff starts from I think 65%.

Faculty

5

The facut student relationship is very good, easily accessible, best teaching methods , highly qualified, best behaviour etc. the faculty here do teaches sometimes more than 1 subjects but we cannot tell that there are PhD in a single subject.on the topic of accessibility there are always available in there office but on phone there are not available on sat and sun I myself is going publish a mathematics research paper with our(maths) professor. There are 2 exams in the semester the mid and the final they are ok in difficulty level describing more.... I am good in studies and for me exams are kind of easy and for those who are weak in studies may found the exams difficult. The evaluation I don't remember properly I roughly remember that some subjects do give more contribution to the cpga and some not. And I may remember the 2 exams goes 70 to 30 contribution to the cgpa.

Interview Experience

5

Yes there were counseling for the admission or so called group discussion. Which where held by our professors and HOD dr.kamaldeepkaur randhawa. Which cleared our mind to take which stream there are only 3 streams in the it department which are computer science engineering, electronics and computer science and electronics and communication.all the students from starting wants to get CSE but after counseling there are divided as our professors tell the differences the importance of other fields rather than computer science.

Night Life

5

The university is on roadside and the road is known as university road. The famous common hangout spot is nowhere because there are many spots near the university MacDonald, burger king on the backside , and a restaurant just next to the university the London shakes. The winter timing for hostel 7:35pm and for college is 5pm. The locality is safe for roaming at night one the biggest reason is because the college is in neighbouring estate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
