When I had read the course brochure, it highlighted a broad range of both theoretical and practical approach on media studies and journalism. but for the past two year, I have noticed that they have been teaching a few similar topics repeatedly. the practical subject teachers for adobe illustrator and Indesign were assigned way into the semester and we happened to lose a lot of time learning the softwares. the course needs more real life based subjects such as search engine optimisations etc. so that it may be useful in real-life. exams are mostly medium to hard level and there are 6 exams per year, including two end semester exams and 4 CIA exams. for my course the cia exams are mostly project based rather than written exams.

This year brands such as Zomato, Bane and Co, and Accenture have come to provide internship opportunities for students. the roles offered are mainly for management, events, and public relations fields. previous years also had several companies that provided interships such as hindustan unilever etc.

Students become eligible for campus placements in their third year of college. the college provides high-end placement opportunities including companies such as accenture, Bane, and Co. etc. Even though these are amazing opportunities the companies pick only very less students for their placements. last year Unilever had given placement to one of the students studying BMS. Students need alteast 9 cgpa to usually get these placements along with other experiences and talents that they possess.

The first-year fee for the 2026 batch was 53,250, which included Caution money of 150 rupees, utility fees of 500 rupees, gym fees of 450 rupees, tuition fees of 34301 rupee, exam fees of 4500, computer laboratory fees of 1500 rupees, library fees of 500 rupees etc. In the second year I paid 53000 rupees. there was a significant fee price inflation in this year, because, previously it was 35000. second year fees included all of the previous fees at similar rates.

The college has several clubs and committees that every student can be a part of. there are usually interviews that are taken for every student to test their eligibility for the club. The college fest 'MALHAR' takes place in August, which is one of India's most famous college fest. the fest requires around 1500 students as workforce and there are around 5 different departments that students can choose from to work in. there are department-wise fests that take place every year that mostly happen during the even semester of every year. the college library is a very peaceful place with over 50,000 books of various subjects. the college has one very big computer lab and several other smaller ones. There are also clubs like the theory club, aicuf etc that are student run clubs that are learning experiences for every student.

I had gotten 86.4 percentage in my 12th board exams, hence, I had gotten into most of the colleges I had applied to. but One thing that stood out about xavier's was the course curriculum brochure and it's location in Mumbai, the media hub of India. I had applied to two colleges in Kerala which provided a similar course, including, Mar Ivanios College and St. teresa's college. Xavier's has a slightly different way of admission for self financed courses including BAMCJ. There is a entrance exam named Xavier's enterance test that every aspiring student has to attempt. Admission is given according to the merit in that exam. the exam fee is 2000 rupees. once the merit list is out the student has to come to the college to take admission. the orientation and classes will start soon after the merit list is out.

The course structures for BA, BSc, BMS are well-designed to include theoretical and practical knowledge. but for the BA MCJ course, the structure is not satisfactory. the faculty for my course, even though they are full of knowledge aren't able to express their knowledge. for most of the other courses the faculty is well equipped for the curriculum. In BAMCJ there are 4 faculty and several other guest lecturers. The faculty is very approachable and understanding. for this course, there are mainly projects rather than exams. normally in a year, there are 6 exams 2 CIAs and the first end-semester exam followed by two more CIAs and another end-semester exam. The majority of the students pass all of the exams, the failures are mostly due to lack of attendance, as the college requires minimum of 75 percent attendence each semester.

college is open till 10 p for every student. most of the fests end by 10:30 pm. the gym and cafeteria services are available till 8:30 pm, library closes at 6 pm every day.the college provides hostels for boys which has curfew of 10:30 pm every day and special allowances for holidays. there are several hangout spots around college as it located in south bombay. there are several cafes and restaurants arround college and a movie theatre, all within 700 meter radius of the college. there is also colaba causeway, a famous street shopping location 2 kilometers away from college. local train stations are also very close by to the college. college is situated around the prime location of night life in mumbai.
