Course Curriculum Overview

5

As said before, the course curriculum is regulated by NMC, which is recognised globally. It's competent and standardised. The curriculum includes 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship, which enables the candidate to prepare for the real world. Between each internal exam, there are 5-6 months. Between the preliminary and external exams, you can expect 1-1.5 months. The exams are easy to pass if you know something or the other regarding the questions asked.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly tuition fees (GQ): 300000 per annum However, these tuition fees have increased now. One-time deposit: 5000 Hostel fees: 6000 per annum MYSY scholarship and Kanya Kedvani: provides full fee reimbursement if you're a Girl

Campus Life

5

The infrastructure is recently built so it's quite good. The lecture halls and library have central AC. The books are exhaustive in the library. The cultural fest that takes place in GMERS, Vadnagar, is called IRIS. Sports competitions include cricket (VPL), informal cricket, badminton, volleyball, football, chess, carrom, etc. There are various other sports events as well named as NG-FIESTA and COSMOS. Navratri celebrations happen under the banner of RANKAR.

Admission

I applied to all the Govt. Medical colleges of Gujarat and all GMERS colleges. I got GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Vadnagar, based on my merit when I applied for NEET UG Counselling. For the admission process you need to have Biology in class 11th and 12th. After you pass your 12th examination, you need to appear for NEET UG exam. You need to qualify NEET UG and then you have to sit for counselling. The cut off is 50th percentile. The overall admission experience is mentally taxing as you need to be active throughout

Faculty

5

There are a total of 19 faculties over 4.5 years. All the professors of each faculty are approachable and inspiring mentors. I like the faculty of pediatrics for their utmost dedication towards patient care. No faculty member has bothered me to the extent that I don't like them. 1 internal, 1 preliminary exam and 1 external exams in each year. In between, there's part ending/ ward ending/ class test. Their numbers aren't fixed. The exams are easy if you write something along the line. You'll surely get passing marks. In each batch there's a pool of around 10-15 students getting fail. Again the numbers might vary. The course curriculum is regulated by NMC, and it's relevant globally.

Night Life

2

There's a gym just outside the campus. A few cafes are scattered around the campus, such as Heritage Cafe, Mitron Cafe, MS Food, and Dhakka Mukki. There are restaurants and hotels available too, such as Riza Hotel, Toran Hotel (by Govt of Gujarat), Alief Hotel, Sangam Restaurant, Nootan Hotel, Madhuli Dhaba, etc. The best and most famous hangout place is SHARMISTHA LAKE. As such, the nightlife is not so fun as everything closes by 8-10 pm. The area surrounding the campus is pretty much safe. But it's advisable to not roam outside, especially if alone. The hostels' timing is 10 pm for both boys and girls.

Remarks:

The college infrastructure is very new compared to that of the hostel. And while the library remains one of the best in whole Gujarat the hostel looks very old compared to it. Overall it is best if you want to take the course as Neet prepatation in Library is also allowed even when your course is completed.

At our time our beloved finance minister Shri H M Patel was there and he started this institute for the benefit of society and community. The only thing I remember is our strike for getting recognition in Medical Council Of India. It was around 44 days strike and we enjoyed this strike and learnt so many things unity, bonding and other so many things.
