- Teaching staff was quite good and friendly in the college.
- Also teachers are highly experienced and give individual attention to students in class.
- The overall environment of college is quite nice as there are many places inside college to wander around in free time.
Dislikes
- No practical approach towards studies.This was the major con I found.
- Moreover college didn't provide any internship in the last year
- And I didn't found any campus placement opportunities in my college.This is sad part but it's reality.
Course Curriculum Overview
1.Well I had an interest in accountancy and economics from my +2.So i decided to do bcom hons as there were some interesting subjects related to my interests. 2.I will be honest.It won't prepare you for real world applications unless you have done internships. 3.It depends on punjab University to prepare course curriculum as per industrial needs. 4.Exams are held quarterly mostly.If you have opted honors let me tell you clear in one go.You will not get second chance.
Fees and Financial Aid
1.The year wise course fees is approximately 24000/- that I paid when I did my bcom. 2.Admission fees- 25000 Tution fees - 24000 yearly 3.I don't know about the fees of my batchmates for sc/st category. 4.I don't know about the scholarships or financial aid any which are available to students.But yes students do get scholarships on merit basis.
Campus Life
1. There are some festivals like National Youth Festival organised in college in association with punjab University.Moreover fete is also organised in November or December.Students actively participate in these events. 2.There is central library in college where one can get access to all kinds of books. 3.There are smartboards in some of the rooms. 4.I don't know much about sports events held in college. 4.Yes, definitely there are student run social groups and clubs too like literature club, NSS and NCC to which students can join and hone their personal development skills.
Admission
1.To be honest I didn't apply to any other college in my city Hoshiarpur as there not many colleges in my city.DAV college is reputed and oldest institute in city so I chose that. 2.Nope I didn't get any rejection from other college.I had a good percentage in class 12 isc 81 percent with maths 3.There is no specific cuttof required to get admitted in the college.Well seats get fulled in short span of time so make sure to apply quickly.
Faculty
1.On 25 students in one section of the class there is one teacher for them.So I think ratio is appropriate.Faculties of college are quite approachable and friendly.One can get their doubts clear easily. 2.I liked specifically to mention Mrs geetu agnihotri mam.There were some hard subjects in 6th sem like operation research but mam's teaching made it quite easy and I got good marks in exam . 3.There are not any specific faculties I didn't like . 4.There are 7 exams in bcom each semester.One needs to devote time and put efforts to get good marks in exam.About 10 to 20 percent I can say fail to clear if they don't do studies properly.I think course is bit outdated in comparison to today's scenario.
Night Life
1.As Hoshiarpur is a small city so are the college campuses.But yeah though there are not any specific spots to hang out one can hang out in college canteen with their friends and spend quality time there.Also there is outdoor gym. 2.There are hostels in college where students live and study.But I don't know about the timings.
