Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is relevent and comprehensive. It prepares well for real worl application . However more practical exposure and industry partner shipscoul improve it . exams are regular, and are moderately challenging.

Internships Opportunities

3

IKGPTU offersinternships via T&P Cell. Companies like TCS, Infosys, and startups oofer roles in development, testing and ML. Stipends Vary (Rs. 5 K to 15 K). Projects include webapps and Ml Models in the Internships.

Placement Experience

3

Placements start from 6th Semesters, Companies, like TCS, Infosys, Wipro visit. Average package is Rs. 3.5 LPA, with the highest at Rs. 7 LPA. Around 70 percent of student get placed. I plan to pursue higher studies or work in AI/ML after graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing B. Tech in AI & ML from I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar The fee structure for my course is Rs. 1,00,000 but it incresed slightly to R. 1,12,000 inculdes 86,000 a tution fees and rest as other charges as such as registration fees , exam fees, SRF, URF, etc. There is also a Tution Fee Waiver scheme (TFW), where only university charges are applicable , around 9,700 per semester, as tution fee is completely waived. SC/ST students of Home state (Punjab) benefit from POst Matric Scholarship (PMS), under which their entire tution and university charges are reimbursed by the government, essentially making the course free for them. As for Scholarships, the university offers several opportunities for financial aid. The Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship is available for students with good academic performance and family income below a certain threshold, providing Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 per semester. There is also Freeship scheme for orphans, single-parent students, and those with family income below Rs. 2,50,000, covering full tution fees. Overall, IKGPTU provides solid support in terms of structured fee planning and financial aid, ensuring that deserving students are not deprived of quality education due to financial constraints.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is vibrant with fests like Technoquest and Anugoonj held annually. Library is well-stocked. Classrooms have smart boards. Clubs like BIC, IIC, NCC, NSS boost skills. Sports events are active and also have a annual athletic meet every year.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel Rooms are shared with basic amenities and Wi-Fi. Mess food is average with a fixed menu but you can ask for simple food if you are sick. hostel registrations are simple and affordable. Some prefer PGs near Kapurthala Chowk for more freedom.

Admission

I chose IKGPTU for its strong AI/ML curriculum and placement and also it is nearer to my home. I applied to the University of Delhi but won't took the couse their becouse they were offering a 3-year course. IKGPTU admissions were smooth based on JEE Mains score.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is excellent and balanced, promoting good interaction. Professors are approachable, especially, in AI & ML. Faculty like Dr. Satvir Singh are excellent due to their expertise. Some professors lak engagement. Exams are frequent, moderate difficulty, with fewer failures. The curriculum is relevent.

Interview Experience

5

For My course of B. Tech no such interview was taken or a written test asIwas selcted o the criteria of JEE Mains result. There only two ways of getting selected one from the result of JEE mains and other on the smerits of marks of 12th class.

Night Life

5

Nightlife is calm but enjoyable. Cafeteria and library close by 7 PM, Girls hostel has curfew after 8 PM but Boys Hostel has no Curfew timings at all. Popular hangout spots include campus lawns, and nearby cafes on the side of highway. The area is safe at night.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
