Course Curriculum Overview

2

Initially, the course seemed quite Interesting only later to realize that it is largely copied from NID/IITs. There are daily tasks and assignments which are more of Art & Craft than Design. There are very minimal constructive Lectures. There are 2 semesters in per year and per semester have 2 exams.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement is assumed to be good with the average going over 10 Lakh LPA. But it is mostly for IT/CS Grads. As for Design with the current scenario, it seems very difficult to even get placed through campus.

College Events

3.5

The University celebrates almost events/fests every month. The Annual Fest "ENGIFEST" is organized in February. "YUVAAN" is the literary fest in January. "AHVAAN" the sports fest in March. "INNOVA" is the Techno-Management fest also in February. "INVICTUS" is the Tech Fest TedX E-Summit Triquetra.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For Bachelor of Design, the annual fee is 1.61 Lakhs which increases 10-15% every year. The Hostel fee is usually 30K. You can easily use up to 5-6k per month for the assignments as the Department doesn't provide Materials.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't opted for any Scholarships or Loans. But some tried to from the SBI branch in the campus and were rejected. This also sparked concern that the University's Bank is also unsure about the placement scenario of B.Des that loans barely get approved.

Campus Life

1

Well, of course, being an Engineering College the Gender Ratio is almost 1:10. There is very minimal Diversity, most of the NRI students are either from UAE, Qatar or other Middle Eastern Countries. Foreign students mostly belong to SAARC Countries or African Countries. Some are also from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan etc. In terms of Extracurricular, there are a lot of Club/Societies on campus.

Alumni/Alumna

There is very minimal Alumni network as most of the Alumni are barely connected to the University. The E-Cell recently launched an Alumni connect App but it still seems to be in Alpha stage. Seniors are almost friendly but initially seems quite bossy. There are strict rules against Ragging but indirectly it is still done.

Admission

I gave UCEED 2018 where I had a very low rank of 2264 and had scored only 129 Marks. The first choice as always was IIT Bombay or IIT Guwahati but surely with rank as low, I wasn't even close. Just before finalizing my admission in UPES, I got to know that DTU will be starting B.Des course. I applied and was invited for Counselling/1st Round of Admission. I got admitted through the first round.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty are mostly IITians/NItians. Some have Architecture Degree, Fine Arts Degree while some have Done PhD or Masters in Design. The Faculty is rather young and are not able to properly adhere to teaching College Students, they lack the Psychological Understanding of Students and do not give proper Lectures with Examples for Topics.

The placements are great. The department responsible for placements is OCS and they are the best at their job they find top class recruiters and that too from big companies in your field. They also teach you how to prepare for them from the first year itself.

Placement Experience:

Placements are relatively good in comparison to other fashion colleges and placements start during the 7th semester. Companies like Raymond and high level MNCs come to the campus for placement opportunities. Highest package goes upto 10lpa and 1-2lpa on average. Students having CGPA greater than 8 are offered good packages.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell was very supportive - I now work for a UI UX design consultancy. Got placed from the college itself. Before that, I got a chance to complete 3 different industry internships -one of them was for 4 months - giving me so much exposure. I learned the maximum during this one.

Entrance examination is conducted by the college itself! And there is no such score.. They tell if the student has cleared for the interview or not! And i opted for this college because this is one of the top five design colleges in India.

The college management off lately has been a little slow. The reason can be the upcoming shift in the campus. Otherwise, the management is always helpful and active and we can reach out to them anytime we want.

Remarks:

There are mostly good remarks but one bad remark is that you have to continue your course from the university in Sohna after 2 years of span at the college in Delhi. This is to populate the university and to get the right kind of exposure from their but, in the end its all a happy memory.
