Course Curriculum Overview

5

This dates back to almost 20 years back, so I would say the course is not relevant with the present work field. I am not speaking only in terms of Biotechnology, but also the other courses have to upgrade themselves every year with new innovations and technologies, happening around the world. So, this is a common problem amongst every course and college.

Internships Opportunities

5

There are many intership opportunities available in our college, but unfortunately, I do not remember them now. But, if you can verify with the current students, maybe they can provide a better information

Placement Experience

4

From 3rd year 3rd sem, you are eligible for your placements. The placements drive was active in my college, and many of the students got placed in our college, with very good starting packages. The percentage of students getting placements was around 70%.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees that I paid during 2006 were INR 26,000 per year. I had paid the fees in 3 installments throughout the year. The tuition fees were INR 26,000/- and a caution deposit of INR 2,000 to INR 5,000 was deposited. The lab and development fees were all included in the tuition fees itself. The scholarships were being provided based on the merit achieved by the candidate.

Campus Life

5

The college infrastructure was great, as we not only had engineering college, but also pharmacy college as well. We used to celebrate annual festivals with great enthusiasm, we had rock bands those days itself. The infrastructure was great, with lot of greenery to breathe and feel fresh every second. We had big grounds for Basketball and other sport related. We also had student-run social groups, which were first-of-its-own, and were featured in many newspapers, for being unique and innovative.

Admission

I got an EAMCET rank of 24,000. Being a female, I was provided with many universities and options. But, Biotechnology being completely new course, had its share of pros and cons. I was not sure to pick which college or university, could provide the course in a better way. I picked TKR College of Engineering and Technology, as I felt it was within the city, and I did not have to spend much time travelling to college. I did not get rejected at other colleges, but, I did not accept them as there were too far from where I stay. I got my admission into this college, through counselling. The eligibility being was to get a good rank in the EAMCET. During, those days, the most preferred exams by students was EAMCET.

Faculty

5

The faculty-to-student ratio was 1:30. The faculty was friendly and jelled well with their students. There were quarterly, half-yearly and annual exams. As I was into Biotechnology, I did not like the faculty of Electronics, as they were a bit rude with other department students.

Interview Experience

5

Yes, we were trained for GDs, interviews and written test, as we had to crack for our placements. The actively studying groups were picked for all these processes. I would definitely win all the rounds, as I was provided with that kind of training.

Night Life

2

As i was not staying in the hostel, I could not comment much about the nightlife around my college campus. Some, of my friends would say that they would enjoy their life at hostel, as they had Pharmacy and Nursing hostels nearby.

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
