Remarks

The positive point if that the faculty members are good and helpful. The infrastructure is the best they could provide,be it labs or canteen. The activities are great too. The negative point is that they are very unpredictable with the exam dates or holiday dates,one cant plan well because of it.Also,they should provide food for the hostel students.

Course Curriculum Overview

Bachelors in journalism and mass communication. We had semester exams in every 6 months and in between we had internal exams for 15 marks,internals had 30 marks out of which 15 was for written,10 was for assignment and 5 was for viva.

Placement Experience

Yes,they do provide job opportunity and they also provide internships,during the month of june and july we are given 2 months to do our internship which is either provided by college or we can go for it on our own.

College Events

There are a list of events,the main event in the month of march. Then there are many redbull events, we had special guest apperance every friday who would come for special classes amd guidance which can help u.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure i feel is expensive,again it differs from course to course,in my course we have to pay 60000 to 70000 per semester which is in every 6 months. It sums up around 4 lakhs for a course. I think it is quite expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

I dont know about that because i havent availed it. I have heard my friends have got scholarships in percentage depending on their marks scored in 12th. Which is given to them and they continue to give the scholarship if they keep scoring wel in the exams,else its been taken back but i am not sure as i didnt get it.

Campus Life

The activites,labs ,sports are good. Activity wise we had a lot of events and participation. The labs were the best that can be provided,we had our room where we could shoot for news and take pictures, we also had pcr and mcr. They had provided us with mac book computers for the graphic and editing classes.

Hostel Facilities

I havent opted for hostel. The rate for hostel is 90000 per year without provideing food, they would just provide the kids with ac and wifi. If they had to eat they could order from the canteen which is fine but food shpuld be provided even if they increase the price

External Expense: Rs.10000 - Rs.15000

Alumni/Alumna

They seniors were the students who were doing post graduate or masters in journalism and mass communication. They were very helpful,they helped us with guiding us in our projects. They also helped few of us to get internships where they had earlier done their internships.

Admission

I had to give an entrance exam and the same day itself we had an interview. They gave us a confirmation in few day that i have been selected. Then they asked us to come with all our documents for further procedure.

The faculty members are really co-operative and helpful if one is serious about studies or which ever area they are interested in. They help us in every way possible either its studies if it’s helping us with internships

The hustles and joys of a college life.

Likes

My college did not have the culture of ragging with the junior and and special focus was given to the girl students and their safety.
Seminars were conducted by the college which further enhanced the knowledge of a particular subject.
Students were encouarged to partucipate in different competition that further encouarged their confidence levels.

Dislikes

The students studying in the three year course were not given internships from reputed companies.
Typically very less assignments was provided to the students.
Class tests was not conducted in a proper manner in every semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course because of the Media and the lab facility, and my desire to understand the entire course in journalism and mass communication. The course that I took gave a bit more theoretical aspects rather than the practical ones. The practical ones were a bit less compared to theory ones. The areas I would suggest for improvement would be to encourage more assignments and provide more internship facilities to the students. The frequency of the exams for me was okay, and it was moderate, not difficult.

Beyond the classroom walls

Likes

The sports and activities were good, there is a big playground. Campus was good.
Since it was a women's College, safety was maintained wonderfully, no other student college was allowed in the campus.

Dislikes

The food in canteen, lesser options were given.
The library system, one had to book online seat

Internships Opportunities:

Shri shikshayatan college offers internships with media houses like The telegraph, ABP Ananda and Times of India. Roles include reporting, editing and social media often with a stipend and projects range from news coverage to content creation.

Basket ball area . And the faculties are good .
Their practical classes are good . All the teachers are helpfull
Journalism and mass communication department is good . And the campus is beautiful

Dislikes

Too much high fees and unnecessary fees like gym fees
Unnecessary fees like gym fees , lab fees , union fees
I don’t like any political parties that’s why I do not involve with any party in college .

This course is good , this course has too many fields and opportunities. I learn a lot from this course . Like reporting , content writing , radio jockey , film making , editing animation . Lab work need improves

The Library of the college is quite big has variety of books and students can choose to pick those instead of buying
The campus of the college is quite spread out and open

The faculty can sometimes be a little rigid and unhelpful sometimes

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

Likes

The teachers are friendly and teaching style is unique

There are less sports involvement no particular sports team are there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There course includes practical knowledge very much which is helpful in future filmmaking, newspaper making ,radio voiceover are taught in the course which is quite interesting. Assignments sometimes are field work which is quite important. The teaching of theory papers can be improved .

The college Professors are well learnd. They will provide all the important notes you need.
The library stock is amazing. It has so books that helps you not to buy books on every semester.
The college arranges various programmes on Special days. That is different from other colleges.

Dislikes

The canteen is quite overpriced. Quantity also very little.
College has a Union that is unnecessary.
Not all the departments, but some of the department have manipulation problem. If you can manipulate, you can rise.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to be a journalist from younger age. That's why I choose the subject. And the Journalism department is very prestigious in whole South Kolkata. They will help you learn the outer knowledge also. Practical classes are very helpful. The exam held after 4/5 months. This time helps to cover the syllabus and practical classes helps a lot

Our department teachers are good. They're very helpful. They have deep knowledge about the subject and help us even outside of our college course. Especially our HOD, she's very qualified and makes our topics very clear to us.
The teachers from our department are very cooperative. They make the subject easy for us to understand. They help us with all of our projects like documentaries, radio show recording, web designing and etc.
The best part about our department is our teachers are very friendly. They create an environment where we can communicate with them freely. If we ask them for help in our career they give us valuable advice. They guide us in the right direction.

Dislikes

The infrastructure of our college is not good. The college authority is not supportive at all. Very poor service at the office. They do not behave well with the students, don't co-operate with any issues. No scholarship was given even tho we applied.
Got no news on scholarship even after many months. They do not provide any extra curricular activities or any kind of internship or job opportunities. They don't provide us fecilities like camera, good software for learning. They is no fest or events
There is no canteen, no good equipped lab, no placement opportunities. There is no inter college event or competition. No excursion, nothing is exciting about this college. Even though our department and teachers are really good out authority is not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

surendranath college for women is NAAC B++ recognized college. Affiliated to Calcutta University.
The behavior of the professors of the journalism department of this college is very good. They love every student very much
The atmosphere in the college is very good

Dislikes

Regular classes of general subjects are not taken.
There is no facility for placements in this college
The behavior of the people working in the office of this college is not very good

Course Curriculum Overview:

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks

Our teachers are very understanding and helpful. We are free to contact them whenever we need it. They are so friendly. The faculty: student ratio is 1:10. Till now there have been no exams. My course is Mass communication and journalism because I want to become a journalist in future and I think my teachers will help me to do that.

I got accepted to all private colleges which had psychology but I chose amity because they give you the freedom and to some people it might feel that amity is a fashion show but no, our hoi is very strict about it The campus is very spacious but climbing so many stairs without lift is VERY HARD. if only they could fix that I think everything would have been fine. I didn't apply for any other colleges though I thought of Adamas and Heritage. But I got to know since the last few years only marketing placements are being provided by the other colleges which I wouldn't prefer in future being a btech biotechnology student. Amity has better opportunities and placements which I heard from my friends who were already studying.
