Course Curriculum Overview
As mentioned before, I believe our curriculum was thoughtfully designed. It covered many aspects of ancient and modern history. Both World and Indian history are given importance. In my opinion, it is ideal for my personal and academic goals.
Internships Opportunities
Similar to placement offers, internships are offered by the University Corporate resource centre as well as circulated by faculties and students who have graduated. Companies range from well known Tech, finance, edu-tech etc.
Placement Experience
Placements are offered at Final year of the degree. I am not opting for placements but University seems to be trying it's best to give all students the opportunity. Atleast 5 companies have offered us positions. Mostly in the education field. They are medium to large companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Less than Rs. 35,000 per semester. Thus less than Rs. 70,000 per year. This includes Tuition fees and all other fees. One outlier are back paper fees which are Rs. 1000 per back paper, every semester. I'm not sure about scholarship details.
Campus Life
To it's credit, the social life here is very good. There are numerous student clubs and all of them regularly host events, competitions and the like. Most clubs are inclusive and welcoming. A number of University wide fests are held in the year including the flagship Amifest, Autumn Carnival, a Literature Fest and regular DJ Nights. Campus has a very good sports ground and an annual sports fest.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are small but clean and adequately furnished with a desk, chair, single bed, wardrobe and bookshelf for every student. Administration takes daily upkeep, cleanliness and maintenance seriously. Food quality inside is better than most colleges and the menu is diverse enough. Hostel accommodation is applied through online portals during admission. Though not cheap, it is a convenient choice for stay as options outside the University are inevitably farther away.
Admission
I am a gap year student so I have experience with applying to many colleges in the past. However with Amity, I applied because of the Brand name and recognition. I did not apply to many other colleges. There is no admission process for undergraduate other than marks in 12th Board exams.
Faculty
Fortunately, my department is excellent. However I have heard criticisms about faculty quality from students of other departments. Many departments have a high faculty to student ratio but mine was small. Objectively, exams are quite average in difficulty but still large number of students fail because they are not interested in studies. Not necessarily a fault with the exams themselves. I will say my course curriculum was comprehensive and excellent. I cannot say for other courses.
Night Life
Campus night life is limited as all students have to be back in hostel by 9:30pm However there are many good quality cafeterias and a Juice Corner inside the campus. There is a large and decently equipped gym. Sports ground and indoor sports facilties are open till 8:00pm for all students. A very large library that is open till 9:00pm on weekdays. However, outside the gates is a jungle area which is not safe at night due to no street lights and occasional threat of wild animals.
