Nanyang Technological University runs an August primary intake and a limited January intake, offering 100+ bachelor and 200+ postgraduate programmes across eight colleges. Indian applicants form an established cohort on campus, and the NTU India Connect summer school has trained 700+ Indian students since 2016. Applicants often shortlist NTU alongside other universities in Singapore for its subsidised tuition pathway.

Nanyang Technological University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Nanyang Technological University admission requirements for Indian PG applicants combine a Bachelor’s degree with strong marks, an English test score, and programme-specific tests for MBA and select MSc programmes.
Nanyang Technological University PG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Bachelor’s with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 (recommended) for most MSc; 65% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended) for MSc AI, Data Science and Financial Engineering
- English: TOEFL iBT 100 (0-120 legacy scale) or IELTS 6.5 with band 6.0+ per section; verify at the NTU Office of Admissions page
- Recommendations and SOP: Two academic recommendations plus a 500-word statement of purpose
- Standardised tests: GMAT or GRE required for Nanyang MBA and MSc Financial Engineering; recommended for MSc Management and MSc Analytics
Nanyang Technological University UG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Class 12 with 85% to 90% aggregate (recommended) depending on the programme
- Standardised tests: SAT 1450+ or ACT 32+ recommended; select programmes accept JEE Advanced rank
- English: TOEFL 100 or IELTS 6.5 unless medium of instruction was English (Class 12 English score 70%+ can waive)
Key insight: NTU waives the English test if your Class 12 English score is 70% or higher, which covers most CBSE and ISC applicants without extra spend on IELTS or TOEFL.
Nanyang Technological University Acceptance Rate 2027
Nanyang Technological University does not publish a single admit rate. Third-party estimates place the overall acceptance rate at 30% to 40% and the Indian applicant band at 25% to 35% (estimated) because NTU balances country quotas.
The rate compresses further for MSc AI, Data Science and Nanyang MBA, where Indian demand outstrips reserved seats. Applicants with 90%+ Class 12 aggregate or CGPA 8.5/10+ at PG level clear the first screen most reliably.
Reality check: Even at a 30% admit band, NTU rejects roughly 7 in 10 Indian applicants because the supply of high-scoring quant CS candidates outpaces the reserved seats.
Nanyang Technological University Fees and Cost of Living for Indian Students 2027
An Indian student at Nanyang Technological University should budget S$ 30,000 to S$ 90,000 per year (₹ 19.2 to ₹ 57.6 Lakh), combining tuition or MOE-subsidised tuition with S$ 15,000 to S$ 20,000 (₹ 9.6 to ₹ 12.8 Lakh) in living costs across Singapore.

Nanyang Technological University vs Peer Universities
Nanyang Technological University competes with National University of Singapore inside Singapore and with Tsinghua, Peking and Hong Kong in the wider Asia-Pacific hub, while Indian applicants also weigh top universities in USA as a parallel destination.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Avg Annual PG Fee (S$ / ₹ Lakh) | One-line differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nanyang Technological University | #12 | S$ 45,000 to 71,600 / ₹ 28.8 to 45.8 Lakh | Second-highest QS rank in Singapore; MOE Tuition Grant halves UG cost |
| National University of Singapore | #8 | S$ 47,000 to 77,000 / ₹ 30.1 to 49.3 Lakh (market median) | Broader medical and law schools; higher UG selectivity |
| Tsinghua University | #17 | CNY 80,000 to 90,000 / ₹ 9.6 to 10.8 Lakh (market median) | Cheaper tuition, weaker English delivery for Indian students |
| Peking University | #14 | CNY 80,000 to 90,000 / ₹ 9.6 to 10.8 Lakh (market median) | Strong humanities and CS; Mandarin language barrier |
| University of Hong Kong | #11 | HKD 175,000 to 198,000 / ₹ 18.9 to 21.4 Lakh (market median) | Comparable Asian hub with post-study visa |
[Source: QS World University Rankings 2027 and market-median tuition estimates]
NTU stands out for the MOE Tuition Grant, which halves undergraduate fees for Indians willing to accept a three-year work bond in Singapore. The subsidised pathway keeps a 4-year BEng cheaper than most Indian applicants expect from a top-15 QS university.
Key insight: Indian applicants choosing between NUS and NTU should weigh school reputation over rank gap; NTU wins on engineering and materials, NUS wins on medicine, law and business breadth.
Nanyang Technological University fits Indian applicants targeting a top-15 global university at a subsidised total investment of ₹ 45 to 92 Lakh for a 4-year BEng, offset by a median UG starting salary of ₹ 34.6 Lakh in Singapore. The MOE Tuition Grant and NTU’s Employment Pass pipeline are the single strongest advantages for cost-conscious applicants.
NTU is not the right pick if you refuse the three-year work bond, need scholarships without a separate application, or want a broader liberal-arts spread. Applicants after wider humanities or medicine cohorts should compare National University of Singapore or universities in Australia as a realistic alternative.
Nanyang Technological University FAQs
Ques. What programmes does Nanyang Technological University offer for Indian students?
Ans. Nanyang Technological University offers over 100 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate programmes across engineering, business, science, humanities and medicine, all taught in English. Popular picks for Indian students include BEng Computer Science, BSc Data Science and AI, MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Financial Engineering and the Nanyang MBA. NTU also runs joint degrees with Imperial College London and dual-campus programmes with Wharton for elite REP scholars.
Ques. How can Indian students apply for the MOE Tuition Grant at NTU?
Ans. Indian UG applicants can opt into the Singapore MOE Tuition Grant during the online admission form, which cuts fees by roughly 55% in exchange for a three-year work bond in a Singapore-registered company after graduation. The bond kicks in once you accept the grant, and no separate scholarship application is needed. The grant does not apply to PG coursework students.
Ques. Does Nanyang Technological University accept JEE Advanced scores for admission?
Ans. NTU accepts JEE Advanced ranks for select engineering and science UG programmes as an equivalent to SAT or ACT scores. A top-5,000 JEE Advanced rank typically strengthens the application. Applicants without JEE Advanced can still apply on Class 12 boards plus SAT. NTU treats JEE Advanced as one of several accepted standardised inputs, not a mandatory test.
Ques. Can Indian NTU students work part-time during their studies?
Ans. Full-time international students at NTU on a Student’s Pass can work up to 16 hours per week during term and full-time during vacations, per Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority rules. Most on-campus jobs pay S$ 10 to 15 per hour (₹ 640 to 960 per hour). Internships tied to the course carry no hour cap and count towards graduation credits.
Ques. Is GMAT mandatory for the Nanyang MBA at NTU?
Ans. GMAT or GRE is required for the Nanyang MBA. The typical admitted cohort has a GMAT median of 670 to 680. Applicants with 8+ years of senior work experience can request a GMAT waiver by writing to admissions, though approval is rare. GRE scores of 320+ are accepted in place of GMAT for the same cohort.
Ques. How does NTU verify Indian academic transcripts?
Ans. Nanyang Technological University verifies Indian transcripts directly with the issuing university’s controller of examinations, so WES or third-party evaluation reports are not required. Applicants upload attested transcripts during the application, and NTU emails the university for confirmation within 4 to 6 weeks. Original documents must be presented in person during matriculation in Singapore.
Ques. What is the application fee at Nanyang Technological University for Indian applicants?
Ans. The UG application fee is S$ 15 (₹ 960) for one programme and S$ 30 (₹ 1,920) for two programmes. PG coursework application fees range from S$ 30 to S$ 100 (₹ 1,920 to ₹ 6,400) depending on the school, and Nanyang MBA charges S$ 150 (₹ 9,600). Likes
- You would find a ton of diversity in NTU, students from all around the globe which is not that common in other Singaporean Universities.
- Clubs and Societies exist for every interest possible.
- Professors, though only a handful, put high emphasis on practical learning.
Dislikes
- Racism still exists within clubs and societies and is also a problem in a few modules.
- The university location is near the border, making visits to city centre very difficult.
- Everyone's mindset here is highly job oriented and not business related.
Campus Life
- It's only one campus, quite close to the Singapore-Malaysian border, but very far from the city centre.
- There are libraries, multiple canteens, every possible sports court, including a swimming pool, a hospital and a dental clinic. They are also opening a hotel on campus very soon.
- There are 100+ clubs and societies in NTU, the most popular ones being the Welfare Service Club, Investment Interactive Club, Rotaract Club of NTU and the Muslim Society. As per festivals, there is the NTUfest. Also, being part of the Hall Council or JCRC is considered a big deal.

- World class facilities such as labs - for projects be it personal or academic
- Lots of opportunities - University provides a lot of opportunities in terms of internships, exchanges, projects, hackathons, which all help build your resume
Dislikes
- Hectic workload - the content is demanding and the deadlines can be unforgiving, especially nearer to finals
- Huge emphasis on self learning - professors require you to prepare for the sessions before they begin, and expect that you put in effort before approaching them, which may not work for everyone
- Quite a few opportunities are reserved for Singaporeans/Singaporean PR, so international students may not be able to avail them
Campus Life
- We do have a lot of events that happen on campus. NTU Fest happens early in the year to help new students get engaged with the happenings on campus. We also have celebrations for major festivals in Singapore, such as Chinese New Year, Diwali, and Eid.
- Usually there will be events hosted for these, such as student performances, and they are hosted by students entirely. They are quite popular, especially the Diwali celebrations among Indian students and have a lot of activities like Henna, Dance Floors, and even snacks.
- There are a lot of facilities for sports that are accessible to all students. They are open throughout the day and students are encouraged to use them. They are also well maintained.

Likes
- Diverse Community - NTU's multicultural environment has given me the opportunity to interact with people coming from varying cultures from different parts of the world.
- Cultural Integration - NTU has a very strong Indian society, which celebrates and organise Indian festive events, allowing students to feel like at home
- Networking Opportunities - NTU gives its students the access to an extensive alumni network and also hold many networking events where we get the chance to meet and learn from professionals.
Dislikes
- Food Options - NTU has very limited Indian cuisine in campus food courts, and vegetarian options might not be as diverse. Also all restaurants close around 9pm, so very few late night food options.
- Weather and Climate - Singapore has a very hot and humid weather, with rain pouring very unexpectedly, so need to carry umbrellas everywhere.
- Social Adjustments - Initially it might be a bit difficult to build friendships with local students due to cultural differences and they often don't interact with students outside their culture. Hence, Group Projects sometimes are filled with immense challenges.
Campus Life
- NTU has a main campus located in Jurong West, Singapore, which is massive and feels like a mini-city.
- Library: There are many libraries in each school that are amazing, with plenty of study spaces, books, and even beanbags for relaxing.
- Sports Facilities: There are gyms, swimming pools, football fields, badminton courts, and even a rock climbing wall.
- Medical Services: The campus clinic offers basic healthcare, and there’s a counselling centre for mental health support.
Fees
- All fees are in SGD.The annual breakdown includes tuition fees ($36,000), hostel fees ($4,000), and other fees ($1,000), totalling $41,000.
- Fees are charged per semester.
- Additionally, my monthly expenses, including food and transport, amount to $4,000. But this can depend on your dining preferences and how often you go out of campus. This can be lower if you regularly dine in inside the campus food courts, which provide subsidised food.

Overview
NTU is one of the worlds top universities with a proven history of producing graduates with strong technical backgrounds. The programme itself is not as qualitative in nature as other ms supply chain programmes in the world. Personally, i did a bachelors in business in supply chain management so pursuing a masters in science instead was slightly daunting because supply chain as a business is not as difficult to comprehend as supply chain as a science. I desired to be proficient in the nitty-gritty of supply chain management. The university has facilities that most other universities do not possess. There are abundant opportunities available to work on various technological equipment and software.
