As one of the world’s leading universities, the University of Cambridge constitutes 31 autonomous colleges, offering 30 undergraduate, 167 masters and 270 doctoral programs. Every year, the University of Cambridge admits more than 3,000 international students. These students comprise around 25 percent of the entire undergraduate population, representing more than 90 countries.

  • The online application deadline for undergraduate study is October 15, 2019, till 6:00pm (UK time).
  • International students need to apply for the Tier 4 student visa.
  • The application fee of Cambridge Online Preliminary Application (COPA) for overseas students is £30.00

University of Cambridge Undergraduate Admissions

The University of Cambridge comprises 29 undergraduate colleges, offering more than 65 subjects within undergraduate courses. The most coveted programs are Engineering, Management, Medicine, Education and Sciences.

General Requirements

  • Candidates must submit a UCAS application for admission to UG courses..
  • After receiving the application,the University of Cambridge will email a link to complete the Supplementary Application Questionnaire (SAQ).
  • As a part of the UCAS application, students will need to write a personal statement explaining their subject interest(s).
  • Submission of academic transcripts, as per the course’s requirements.
  • School/ college reference is also an important part of the UCAS application provided by a teacher or tutor in your school/college.
  • Most applicants need to take a subject-specific written admission assessment, either pre-interview or at interview.
  • A reasonable standard in spoken English is required at the time of interview.


Given below are some basic entry requirements for specific curriculums. At the University of Cambridge, the admission authorities assess all applications individually and candidates are required to score top grades in the highest level qualifications.

  • GCSE:- GCSE results are considered as a performance indicator of the candidate.
  • A-Levels:- Applicants may be required to achieve A* in a particular subject(s), depending on individual circumstances.
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB):- Typical offers are 40-42 points out of 45, with 776 in Higher Level subjects. Applicants may be required to achieve 7 in a particular subject(s), depending on individual circumstances.
  • Cambridge Pre-U Diploma:- Conditional offers are set on an individual basis but are likely to require the achievement of Distinction level grades (D2 or D3) in Principal Subjects.

NOTE:- Students who are applying from outside the European Union (EU), and/or wish to be considered for an Organ scholarship or an Overseas interview need to submit Cambridge Online Preliminary Application (COPA) along with their UCAS application.

Immigration & Visa Requirements

In order to study in the UK, students coming from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland for more than 6 months must have a Tier 4 student visa.

  • Candidates need to apply for their visa at least 3 months before the starting date of their course. The date of the application is the same as the day of paying the visa application fee.
  • Applicants can apply for their Tier 4 student visa in their respective country of residence.
  • All students need to complete their online application form. The application fee is £348.

  • Necessary Financial Documentation.
  • If you are below 18 years of age, proof of parental or other legal guardian consent
  • Tuberculosis Test results (as per the country’s requirements)
