Unless you are in an "IIT," or unless you are only concerned with the college brand name, the subjects you will study in the future. To be honest, your skills and knowledge will get you everything, but stream allows you to become eligible to sit for the jobs you want. You should emphasize focusing on the stream rather than the college brand name because many colleges have eligibility criteria, i.e. CSE/IT students can apply but others cannot, and thus other students are not exposed to enough opportunities, as is the case at the college where I did my undergrad and many other colleges.
