There were a lot of job opportunities in 2004 as a lot of independent architecture studios were practicing all across India. The starting package was Rs 15000-20000 per month in 2004. A lot of Multinational companies also established their offices in the Country there after so the market was opened further for fresh candidates.
In 2004 we did not have any companies come to the college for internships/ placements. Students were able to do internship with their choice of architecture offices with the recommendations from various professors and practicing Architects associated with the college.
Since architecture offices are small to medium sized (5-50 persons) there are very few campus placements. However, all students secure jobs within 1-2 months of graduation in the metro cities or tier-2 cities.Salaries vary from 2.5 lacs to 4.5 lacs depending on the nature of work taken up by the employer.
The faculty at college suggests some of the best design offices in the city and in the country where students apply and get selected due to intensive academic work portfolios.A fair number of students also work in the offices of faculty and visiting faculty itself. My experience was very good. The studio was a great place to get exposed to the professional side of the field. It helped me grow greatly as a professional. In 2009, stipend used to be something between 6-10k rupees p.m. Today, it varies from 10-15k p.m.
As such the placement is not there for masters degree as mostly students will find on their own and sometimes research associate post are offered for interested students after completing post graduation.
Rs.2000 per month for three semesters and a contigency grant of Rs. 8000 in total the project work is 6 months and have to choose on our won with guidance from faculty and finish in 4 months.
The job opportunities are good but Our college does not have placements. However, every students is in good terms with the passed out students and the faculties who helps the students to get into various companies. Since the college is more like a family, everyone keeps in touch and contact the students whenever any offers or projects come up where they need the students. The final year students are always guided by the faculties and they help them get in touch with the various people they know. Also, the ex students of the college contact these students and inform them about the various firms and companies requiring planners or invite them to their private firms with good packages.
Every year during our summer break, we are supposed to do our internship for 45 days and the companies are to be chosen by us. So, depending on the companies, some are paid while some aren't. If paid, the stipend varies from 3000-15000 per month. But as for me, I haven't worked for companies with payment.
Job opportunities are good but we dont have many placement here job is very easy to get after having you anme associated to this college.
We have internship in 8th sem, and generaly we we get about 15000 as stipend.
There isn't any placements from our college and as far as jobs are concerned, there is competetion everywhere. So it would very much depend on individual's marks and performance along with their presentation skills. Planners are very much in need in today's world. And so the job opportunities are pretty good.
Last summer I did 6 weeks internship in Town and Country Planning Department in Pondicherry. There was no stipend for as this was a government office. It was a beautiful experience as we could see how things actually work on ground. The processes they had to undergo to make the various implementations they wanted was not as easy as we thought it would be. Planning is very much linked to Law and Politics and so to decide anything, one has to follow all the rules and acts and get it approved by various bodies. However, it was interesting and I am looking forward to many more internships to come.
