According to statistics, IIM Trichy has one of the highest average compensation packages among the new IIMs. The highest and average packages offered during the 2022 placement drive, according to the final IIM Trichy placement report, was INR 34 LPA and INR 17.01 LPA, respectively.
Although all of the IIMs are relatively new, IIM Ranchi and IIM Rohtak, which were founded in 2009, are older than IIM Trichy, which was founded in 2011. Nonetheless, IIM Trichy continues to coordinate the CAP for newer IIMs.
IIM Trichy has the most full-time faculty of any new IIM, with 35. Furthermore, the majority of the faculty here are fellows of IIM A, B, C, K, TISS, JBIMS, NUS Singapore, and others, and they all have extensive industry experience.

The primary goal of IIM Rohtak's admission process is to identify qualified candidates for admission in each category, namely General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PWD/DAP. The Institute acknowledges the possibility of a student body that is generalized toward men and graduates with degrees in engineering and other related fields, even though merit is the primary factor. Therefore, it works to ensure that opportunities for various subject streams and genders are more evenly distributed. The strategy used at IIM Rohtak includes properly recognizing academic consistency.

IIM Rohtak's new admissions procedure consists of the following five steps considering that the institute is no longer a CAP participant:

Stage I: IIM Rohtak Online Registration for PGP Admission.

Yes, there is high chance that you will be getting calls from most of the newer IIMs if not all. However, based on your profile it won’t be easy to get into an IIM. You might have to work extra hard for your PI round.

Before explaining to you the CAP process convened by IIM Rohtak let’s discuss in brief what exactly CAP is.

CAP stands for Common Admission Process. It is a single admission process conducted by the following IIMs alternatively: IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Rohtak, IIM Raipur, IIM Udaipur, or IIM Kashipur. Under this process, the candidate has to give a WAT/PI(Written Ability Test/Personal Interview) process under CAP. All the member institutes will be given the scores of this test and based on their respective criteria, each institute will declare its own list of shortlisted candidates.

Let’s discuss the various steps involved in this admission process

Fill in your choices of IIMs in the CAT form.
When CAT results are declared, the institutes under CAP make a shortlist based on their own criteria.
The IIM which is organizing the CAP that year collects the shortlisted candidates' names from other institutes and informs them about the CAP IIMs which have shortlisted them for WAT/PI.
The shortlisted candidates will have received a CAP link which they have to duly fill out. He will also be informed about the date and location of the CAP process.
On the stipulated date, the candidate will have to appear for the WAT/PI process.
All the institutes under CAP will receive the details of the score of this process and will release their own final shortlist.

Starting in 2018, every candidate has to appear for CAP irrespective of which IIM they belong to.

I think it is a good tactical decision for IIM Rohtak to improve its worth and image among the second-generation IIMs.

Despite being younger than IIM Shillong it is considered among the second-generation IIMs because it has been a part of CAP. If you look at the current situation, IIM Shillong functions from a temporary campus and yet has its own WAT-PI process. On the other hand, IIM Rohtak has its own permanent campus but lacks its own WAT-PI process. Now its withdrawal from CAP will enable it to stand out from the second-generation IIMs.

From the student's perspective, this strategy has increased their chances of getting selected as now if they fail to perform well in CAP, they can rely on Rohtak's own WAT-PI process and vice-versa.

Should I join IIM Rohtak IPM?

The IPM program of IIM Rohtak is not at par with the PGP program and therefore I will suggest that you should go for it only if you have no better options. The reasons why I am against this program so much are

It is one of the most expensive Undergraduate courses in India and the final placements are not worth the huge fees.
The course is relatively new so they are still experimenting with the curriculum and pedagogy decreasing its credibility.
Despite stretching over 200 Acres, the IIM Rohtak’s campus is partially not completed.
The ROI is extremely low
There is no mess facility adding to the already extravagant fees of the institute.
The faculty is below average. To compensate for this they hold guest lectures.

Considering all the above points, I will recommend you to take up an Undergraduate course from any college and then go for an MBA from a top B School. By doing IPM you merely will be wasting 5 years and over 30 Lakhs.

IIM Rohtak admission process usually involves online registration for the college, then appearing for the entrance exam viz. CAT/GMAT followed by shortlisting, GD and PI. Post which if you get selected, you need to accept/freeze your seat by fee payment.

A strong CAT/GMAT score is a must over and above the cut-off. A well curated profile balancing academics with extracurriculars. Also, vcrafting a compelling LoR may help in highlighting your unique strengths coinciding with the goal of the program. Including work experience(if applicable) showcasing problem-solving and business acumen will definitely give you an upper edge.

Yes, The candidates who clear the minimum CAT cut-off will have to register online for the PGP Admission 2024-26 batch. The candidates will be shortlisted for the online personal interview. Candidates who are foreign nationals, PIOs overseas, Indian citizens, and NRIs are all eligible to apply to the Ph.D. programme at IIM Rohtak. Final selection to the Ph.D. programme is based on the school results, valid score from entrance exam, personal interviews, and work experience. It is a full-time course that is residential and lasts for 4 years.
