Remarks:

NIT Jamshedpur has improved it's infrastructure considerably in the last 2 years, the New Academic Building is under top 50 Asia's biggest buildings. The placements has always been decent here, and each I have seen increase in the mean and median salaries of all branches. Moreover, there is less stress on academics, classes are flexible. Boys get a personal room starting from the second year itself; During the first year, one room is shared by two individual. The Mess Food is not very good but comparative to other NITs and IITs, it's way better, though this accounts for high mess charges around INR 16500.

Placement status is very good even for core branches but faculty is not that good. It is in my hometown and it was the best college that I was getting with this rank so I chose this. Earlier the infrastructure was a problem bit nowadays it is improving both in infrastructure and lab facilities.

Remarks:

I preferred this college as it was in my state, the college has a good infrastructure and faculty, the placement record of this college is also good. The admission to this college and all other NITs is done on the basis of JEE main entrance exam score. The jee main exams are held 4 times a year. All the candidates can appear in all these 4 exams if they want to improve their scores further( the best percentile is considered). After jee mains results, the qualified candidates can apply for jee advanced (for IITs). After both JEE Main, JEE Advanced exams and results, there is a counselling process in which we have to choose the colleges and courses we are interested to take admission in. The counselling happens in 6 rounds. Then according to ranks every candidate is provided a seat in one college and branch from hi lost of choices. Then after all the rounds of counselling the admission happens on the college website where we have been given a seat.

My brother was in the same college,so i joined this college without worrying about my branch. My brother was my super senior in ECE department. As far as he knew ,he said everything about the college, so i thought that the branch doesn't matter.that was a wrong decision, branch matters!!And due to this pandemic we are not having any offline classes and my knowledge in metallurgy is vanished completely.I realised this in my third year and now i am completely prepared for non-core(analytics) field and my campus placements are going on

Placement Experience:

The main feature of the nit JSR is the placements. The placements here are pretty enough good. The electrical branch has a placement of 92%. Cse has 98% placement. Pie has 87% placement. Mechanical and Ece has also placement above 90%. So you need not worry about placements. The highest package gone from here is 70 lac to the mechanical student of 2016 batch. And this year 2021 33 lac highest has gone and placement are still continuing.

Remarks:

Academic here is a bit slow moving but in turn that gives a very good space and time to prepare for other stuffs or learn new skills. Research prospect could be better. Placement scenario is very good for both coder and non coders. Overall one would enjoy their coursework.

NIT Jamshedpur: 1 Answered Question

What is your review about NIT Jamshedpur?

Megha Rohilla
Arjita PathakB.Tech (Hons.) from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2018)

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

  • The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
  • Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
  • The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.

Placement Reports:

A few major recruiting companies are (in respective branches) as follows.

  • CSE: Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle
  • ECE: Amazon, Oracle Finance, Wipro, Mahindra Comviva
  • EEE: Tata Steel, JSW Steel, L&T, BPCL
  • ME: Tata Motors, L&T, Tata Steel, BPCL
  • MME: JSW Steel, Vedanta, Tata Metaliks, Tata Steel
  • CE: Simplex, L&T
  • PIE: Tata Hitachi, JK Tyre, JK Paper, Tata Motors

FIITJEE, Rao Academy, Career Point, etc, are examples of coaching institutes that recruited as well. The highest package received was 30 LPA while the average salary was 12 LPA

Extracurricular Activities:

The TechnoManagement fest, Ojass, and Cultural fest, Culfest are the major events of the institute. There are several automobile teams as well, like Team Phoenix, the aircraft team; Team Rays, the hybrid car team and Team Daksh, Off road car team.

This is the in-depth scenario of the institute.
