Remarks:

The best thing about NIT Jamshedpur is its chilled life. Students are given much freedom. Also they don't have to worry about grades. There is hardly anyone who fails. However infrastructure needs to be improved as it has adverse effect on our NIRF ranking.

Remarks:

If you want to keep a balance between your academic and extracurricular activities then this is one of the best college. Lab facilities are not too good as it should be in any national technical institute. Lastly, I would say that you will get a chance to learn and experience real life things.

Remarks:

Positive remark- Workload is less, so you can prepare sideways for other competition exams. Course is lenient and not quite difficult to pass. Negative remarks- some teachers aren't helpful, new infrastructure work is going on and will be functional from next year as old infrastructure is in dilipidated situation.

The best thing in my college is placements, there are many great companies with high packages recruiting us. And many reputed colleges also lag from core companies they only get software companies, but in my college there were good number of core companies recruiting us.Good in placements, extracurricular activities, hostels and dissatisfied in teaching quality.

NIT Jamshedpur: 1 Answered Question

What is your review about NIT Jamshedpur?

Megha Rohilla
Arjita PathakB.Tech (Hons.) from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2018)

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

  • The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
  • Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
  • The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.

Placement Reports:

A few major recruiting companies are (in respective branches) as follows.

  • CSE: Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle
  • ECE: Amazon, Oracle Finance, Wipro, Mahindra Comviva
  • EEE: Tata Steel, JSW Steel, L&T, BPCL
  • ME: Tata Motors, L&T, Tata Steel, BPCL
  • MME: JSW Steel, Vedanta, Tata Metaliks, Tata Steel
  • CE: Simplex, L&T
  • PIE: Tata Hitachi, JK Tyre, JK Paper, Tata Motors

FIITJEE, Rao Academy, Career Point, etc, are examples of coaching institutes that recruited as well. The highest package received was 30 LPA while the average salary was 12 LPA

Extracurricular Activities:

The TechnoManagement fest, Ojass, and Cultural fest, Culfest are the major events of the institute. There are several automobile teams as well, like Team Phoenix, the aircraft team; Team Rays, the hybrid car team and Team Daksh, Off road car team.

This is the in-depth scenario of the institute.
