Should you pick B.P.Ed at LPU?
This course suits students with a sports record who want to teach PE or coach in schools.
Pick it if:
You want a school PE teacher job: LEAD School and Holy Faith hire from this course on campus after the fourth semester.
You want to train in real sports facilities: the campus has an Olympic size pool, an indoor stadium and full size grounds for most games.
You won a national medal in a priority game: LPU waives the full programme fee, the hostel and the food for A+ grade players.
You want work in sports retail or fitness: Decathlon also hires from this course, and the highest offer for the last batch was INR 9 LPA.
Skip it if:
Your sports record is only state or zonal level: B.P.Ed students get only the C grade sports scholarship, even when the record fits a higher grade.
You want a government school PE job: this degree is only the first step, and the state teacher exam decides that job, not campus placement.
You are paying the full fee yourself: the fee is INR 2.24 Lakhs without hostel, and a government college costs much less.
You plan to apply only in August: Schedule V is the last LPUPET slot, so a failed test leaves you no later date to try.
Counsellor's advice
If you hold a national medal, ask for the A+ sports trial before you pay any fee. If not, take LPUPET in an early schedule so a failed test still leaves later dates.

Will your marks get you a B.P.Ed seat at LPU?
Pick your graduation marks and whether you have a sports certificate. LPU admits on these plus the LPUPET fitness test.
Graduation marks
Sports certificate
50% or more marks, with a sports certificate
Yes, you can apply. Book an LPUPET slot and clear the four fitness events.
50% or more marks, no sports certificate
Not yet. The course needs a sports record, at least school or district games. Get that certificate first.
45% to 49% marks, with a sports certificate
Almost there. The rule is 50%, so ask the admission office if your category gets a relaxation before you pay the test fee.
45% to 49% marks, no sports certificate
Not yet. You need both 50% marks, or your category's relaxed mark, and a sports certificate.
Below 45% marks, with a sports certificate
Not this year. You need 50% in graduation, or the lower mark your category allows.
Below 45% marks, no sports certificate
Not this year. Both the marks and the sports record fall short of the rules.
EDITOR'S NOTE
LPUPET is a pass test, not a rank list. Book an early schedule, so a bad day on the track still leaves you later dates.

In short
Chandigarh University costs a little less, but its highest offer is about half of LPU's. If the fee gap of INR 10,000 matters less than the higher top offer, take LPU.
In short
Guru Kashi University charges much less for the course but more for the hostel. If you can live at home near Bathinda, it costs much less; if you need a hostel, the gap is smaller.
In short
Sant Baba Bhag Singh University charges INR 1.15 Lakhs less and is in the same district. If the fee is your main worry, apply there too; if you want the bigger sports campus, take LPU.
In short
Panjab University is a government university and charges much less. If you get a seat there, take it for the fee; keep LPU as your backup, since LPUPET has five dates.
Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.
FAQs on LPU B.P.Ed
Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.
Is B.P.Ed at LPU worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you want a PE teacher or coaching job and will use the sports campus. The full fee without hostel is INR 2.24 Lakhs, and the highest offer for the last batch was INR 9 LPA. If you are paying from savings, read the fee block above and check a government college before you pay.
What job will I get after this course?▾
Most students become PE teachers or sports coaches in schools. LEAD School and Holy Faith hire on campus, and Decathlon hires for sports retail. 95% of the last batch got jobs. If you want a government school job, you must also clear the state teacher exam after the degree.
Who should not take B.P.Ed at LPU?▾
Skip it if the fee is your main worry, since a government college costs much less. Also skip it if you cannot clear the 1000 m race and the other LPUPET events. If your record is only state level, remember this course gets just the C grade sports scholarship.
Is B.P.Ed good for higher studies?▾
Yes. B.P.Ed is the degree you need before M.P.Ed, the master's in physical education. LPU also offers M.P.Ed, so you can move on without changing campus. If you plan to teach in a college later, keep your marks high, because the next courses look at them.
Should I join if I have only a district level sports record?▾
Yes. A district or school record meets the rule for this course. It gets you the C grade sports scholarship, not a higher grade. Bring every sports certificate to the LPUPET day, because LPU checks your record along with your marks and your test.
Should I wait for a later LPUPET schedule?▾
No, book an early schedule if you can. LPU holds five LPUPET schedules from April to August, and each result comes three days after the test. If you fail an early test, you still have later dates. A failed August test leaves you none.
Is the hostel worth taking in the first year?▾
Take it if you live far away, because morning training starts early. The lowest room costs INR 72,000 a year and the basic veg mess INR 37,800 a year. If you live close to the campus, you save INR 2.20 Lakhs over the course by staying at home.
Is LPU a good choice if I want a coaching job?▾
Yes, if you use the grounds well. The campus has an Olympic size pool, an indoor stadium and full size grounds for cricket, football and hockey. Coaching jobs look at your own playing record, so keep training in your main sport through both years.
Will I get a scholarship for B.P.Ed at LPU?▾
Only a few students get a big one. A national medal in a priority game gets the A+ grade: INR 2.20 Lakhs off, plus free hostel and food. SC students with family income up to INR 2.5 Lakhs can get INR 2 Lakhs through the Post Matric Scholarship. Use the calculator above to check yours.
How do I get admission to B.P.Ed at LPU?▾
Fill the form on the LPU Admit Portal and pay INR 1,000 for the test. Book an LPUPET slot and take the fitness test on campus. When the result comes, pay the first semester fee to confirm your seat, then report with your original papers.
What is the full fee for the course?▾
The full 2-year fee is INR 2.24 Lakhs without hostel. It covers the tuition fee of INR 2 Lakhs, the exam fee and the uniform. With the lowest hostel room and the basic mess, it comes to INR 4.44 Lakhs. The toggle in the fee block shows both totals.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
Yes. You pay the tuition fee each semester, INR 50,000 at a time, so you never pay the full amount at once. If you need a loan, the EMI tile in the fee block shows the monthly cost before you apply.
The college boasts impressive placement rates, with 95% of students securing jobs. Companies like LEAD School and Holy Faith offer attractive packages of 6 Lakh and 9 Lakh, respectively. Students are eligible for placement opportunities, including internships and full-time roles, after their fourth semester. About 50% of students choose placements, while the rest pursue further studies. Internship stipends can go up to 47,500 for two months, with placements in schools and companies like Decathlon, offering salaries between 3 to 4 Lakh annually.
The focus is on developing skills and knowledge in physical education, with active university-company engagement to boost placements. The Lovely Professional University charges 50,000 INR per semester for courses such as B.P.Ed. However, scholarship programs like LPUNEST, LPUTABS, and LPUPET can cover 50-60% of tuition fees, and sports achievements may lead to scholarships covering up to 100%. Despite high fees typical of private universities, these scholarships make education more affordable and accessible.
