About Anna University B.Tech
Anna University offers a four-year, full-time B.Tech in 12 branches on two Chennai campuses. Nine branches are taught at the Alagappa College of Technology in Guindy. Information Technology has seats at Guindy and at the MIT campus in Chromepet, which also teaches AI and Data Science and Rubber and Plastics Technology. There is no entrance exam, because seats go by the TNEA rank from your Class 12 marks. The full fee without hostel is INR 1,31,400 on a regular seat and INR 2,09,800 on a self-supporting seat. In 2025 the OC close was 854 for AI and Data Science, the toughest branch, and 45,196 for Apparel Technology, the easiest. Of all B.E. and B.Tech graduates of 2025, 64% were placed at a median of INR 7.5 LPA.

Anna University B.Tech Fees
The total fees with hostel is INR 4,13,300 on a regular seat, and the fees without hostel is INR 1,31,400. A self-supporting seat costs INR 2,09,800 without hostel, which is INR 78,400 more. The tuition fee is INR 6,000 a semester on a regular seat and INR 14,800 on a self-supporting one. You pay the semester fee every semester and the one-time fees in year 1. The deposit comes back when you leave.

Anna University B.Tech Eligibility
You need 45% in Maths, Physics and Chemistry if you are OC, 40% if you are BC, BCM or MBC, and 35% if you are SC, SCA or ST. There is no entrance exam. Your TNEA rank comes from your Class 12 marks, out of 200. Every branch uses the same rule.

The steps are registration, certificate upload, the rank list, choice filling, allotment, fee payment and reporting. You register on the TNEA site and upload your certificates. AI and Data Science is the toughest branch at 854, and Apparel Technology is the easiest at 45,196, with 35 seats. Chemical Engineering has the most seats, 140, split between regular and self-supporting. The university does not publish seats for its Chromepet branches or for Information Technology. Anna University B.Tech Scholarships
The Central Sector Scheme pays the most cash, INR 56,000 over four years, and the SC and ST waiver takes INR 48,000 of tuition off a regular seat. First graduates from Tamil Nadu pay no tuition. Students from government schools in the 7.5% quota pay no fee at all. Bring the right certificate when you report.

No. It depends on the seat type, not the branch. A regular seat costs INR 1,31,400 for four years without hostel and a self-supporting seat INR 2,09,800. Chemical and Industrial Biotechnology have both seat types.
Which B.Tech branch is the easiest to get at Anna University?▾
