About Anna University M.Tech
Anna University offers a two-year, full-time M.Tech in 14 branches with 240 seats in all, taught at three campuses in Chennai: ACT and CEG in Guindy and MIT in Chromepet. Half of every branch's seats go to GATE scorers and half to CEETA-PG scorers, through the CEAP single window counselling. Anna University M.Tech Fees
The total fees with hostel is INR 1,81,028 on a regular GATE seat, and the fees without hostel is INR 89,660. On a self-supporting CEETA-PG seat the same totals are INR 2,51,028 and INR 1,59,660. You pay INR 8,860 once and then a semester fee four times; your seat type and your entry route decide that fee. The INR 7,000 caution deposit comes back when you leave.

Anna University M.Tech Eligibility
You need a B.E. or B.Tech with 50% marks to use CEETA-PG, or 45% if you are a Tamil Nadu BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA or ST student. On the GATE route the 2026 floor for OC students was 25 to 40 marks, by paper. Every branch uses the same rules; only the list of related UG branches changes by course.

Anna University M.Tech Admission Process
Every seat is allotted through CEAP, the single window counselling of Anna University. You write GATE or CEETA-PG, fill your campus and branch order online, and the counselling gives you the highest choice your score reaches. You then pay the fee online and report with your originals.

The six regular branches at ACT cost INR 89,660 to INR 1,09,660 for the full course without hostel, and the eight self-supporting branches cost INR 1,39,660 to INR 1,59,660. Anna University M.Tech Entry routes
All 14 branches split their seats in half between GATE and CEETA-PG. The university does not publish closing marks for either route. It publishes the GATE floor for each paper and the rule that an XE or XL score is mixed 70:30 with a CEETA-PG score.

Anna University M.Tech Placements
The 2025 PG batch had a median pay of INR 6 LPA, and 269 of its 604 graduates, or 45%, were placed. These figures cover M.E. and M.Tech together, since the university does not publish M.Tech alone. In the 2025-26 placement list, Larsen & Toubro took six Industrial Safety students and Biocon Biologics hired from the biotech courses.

Anna University M.Tech Scholarships
Differently abled students pay no semester fee, only INR 4,900 once, and the Central Sector Scheme pays INR 20,000 a year to students who held it in their UG course. Tamil Nadu SC, SCA and ST students on a self-supporting seat can claim the post-matric scholarship. Each needs its own papers at admission.

Anna University M.Tech Hostel and Campus
Hostel costs INR 45,684 a year at ACT and CEG and INR 77,200 a year at MIT, and the mess is extra at INR 3,000 and INR 3,500 a month. Hostel is optional. ACT and CEG share the Guindy campus; MIT sits in Chromepet, next to the railway station.

ACT branches on self-supporting seats
5 branches, 102 seats at ACT in Guindy. INR 1,39,660 on a GATE seat and INR 1,59,660 on a CEETA-PG seat, without hostel.
Pick it if:
You want a safety job with a large contractor: Larsen & Toubro took six of the seven Industrial Safety students placed through the university cell in 2025-26.
You missed the regular branches but still want ACT: these seats share the Guindy campus and hostel and cost INR 50,000 more than a regular GATE seat.
You hold a GATE score in XE or XL: CEAP mixes that score 70:30 with a CEETA-PG score, so write CEETA-PG in May as well.
Skip it if:
You want a placement figure for your own branch: the university publishes one PG figure for M.E. and M.Tech together and nothing by branch.
You want the lowest fee at ACT: the regular branches on the same campus cost INR 50,000 less on a GATE seat.

You want the cheaper hostel: the MIT hostel costs INR 77,200 a year, against INR 45,684 at ACT and CEG.

If you have a GATE score, apply in the GATE round first: it fills in early June and costs INR 20,000 less than a CEETA-PG seat on the same course. If you have only CEETA-PG, list the ACT regular branches first for the lower fee.

How do I get M.Tech admission at Anna University?▾
