Ques. Is the AMU PhD Chemistry entrance test compulsory for all candidates, or can CSIR-NET/JRF holders get a direct interview call?
Ans. Candidates who have qualified CSIR-NET (Chemical Sciences) or UGC-NET (Chemistry) with JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) are exempted from the written entrance test at AMU. They are directly called for the Presentation-cum-Interview round before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). This exemption applies only to JRF holders, not to candidates who have merely qualified NET without JRF. Candidates with only NET (without JRF) must still appear in the AMU PhD entrance test. Given that Chemistry has 42 seats, the competition is relatively less intense compared to smaller departments, but the entrance test remains rigorous.
