Placement and job opportunities are quite available as every year numerous private companies and sectors hire post graduate student (mainly). There is a placement cell situation and started by the college authority to look after the placement opportunities for students.
For undergraduate coarse there are no such facilities available. However if one wishes to do internship on their own, the college supports the initiative by giving leave grant and making up for the attendance.
Being in History Department meant that there were no such job placements because for that you would need to pursue higher education such as M.Phil or Ph.D. But my friends in the departments of Statistics, Economics and Maths, were placed in high-ranking and famous companies such as HSBC, HP, Ernst and Young etc.
My college did not have the possibility of an internship or research assistantship. But with its transition to a university, there are avenues for research as M.Phil or Ph.D. students.
Since the university does not provide engineering courses or commerce courses, there are no placements held on the campus. However, every passout student has the required knowledge and skill to find employment in areas of their interest after their successful graduation (in their field) from the university.
The college provides a stipend in Ph.D. courses which may be approximately 10,000 to 12,000/month. The candidate also gets to interact and work with some of the best professors in the field thereby garnering more work experience and learning work ethics.
When I was there, not lot many options but recently it should have been changed a lot because I know once of my cousin got a good starting job in one of the reputed banks. The upgrading the status from college to university might have helped the cause.
No, at least till the time I was there, it was not providing. Now the situation might have changed, I am not sure.
The placement cell was satisfactory, however it never failed to provide us with a proper job opportunity. Company like HSBc, Mindtree, Mu sigma, PWC, genpact, Wipro, En Y.
College intersnship experience was very enriching. We were spoilt for choices, such as Citi, SBI,Orange tree,RBI,NABARD, yes bank came for campusing and internships.
There was a placement cell through which students have been hired on campus by many companies. There was ample job opportunities in IT/ITES companies, Educational Institutions, R&D Labs, Banks, Editorial and publishing houses. To name a few companies are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Genpact, Cognizant, ITC Infotech, HSBC, Exin Group of companies, Bridgetree, SIBIA Analytics, Ideal Analytics. Packages offered were very good as per the industry and institute standard.
Our college does provide internship but the opportunities were very minimal many companies used to visit the campus and provide internship opportunities to deserving students with some offer of permanent placement after completion the project and degree.
This is one area where Presidency College completely lacked. The college did not have a placement cell, neither do the students were actively pursued to take up industrial jobs after graduation. The whole focus was to go for research based positions in India & abroad.
Thanks for your valuable feedback. Our team will look into it.
