University of Calcutta Diploma Tamil: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Any candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination from a recognised board in any stream is eligible. Students enrolled in or having completed an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at any recognised university may also apply for the programme.

Ans. The total programme fee is INR 2,040 for the one-year Diploma in Tamil, payable as monthly tuition along with a one-time admission fee and examination charges, as per the University of Calcutta Department of Languages fee schedule for 2026-27.

Ans. The curriculum covers Tamil script reading and writing, grammar at the foundational to intermediate level, prose and poetry selections from classical and modern Tamil literature, and an introduction to Dravidian cultural history and the Tamil literary tradition.
