University of Calcutta Ph.D Museology: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. The Ph.D. in Museology at the University of Calcutta is a minimum three-year doctoral programme. Candidates complete course work in year one, then conduct supervised original research leading to a thesis evaluated by the Departmental Research Committee and Board of Research Studies.

Ans. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Museology, Art History, or Archaeology from a recognised university with at least 55 percent aggregate, reduced to 50 percent for SC, ST, and OBC. UGC NET, JRF, CSIR NET, or SET holders are exempt from the Research Eligibility Test.

Ans. Candidates without NET, CSIR, SET, or GATE appear for the University of Calcutta Research Eligibility Test. Shortlisted candidates face a Departmental Research Committee interview assessing the research proposal and academic background. NET or JRF holders are called directly for the DRC interview.
