Ques. Where is the NIT Sikkim located ?

Ques. What programmes does NIT Sikkim offers?
Ques. Do they have transportation facilities on campus?
Ans. Comparing the two universities, NIT Sikkim offers better programs academically than DIT Dehradun. For instance, NIT is popularly known for its course and placement facilities in the CSE and ECE branch. Although, in terms of the other branches the placement facilities are not quite up to the mark. NIT Sikkim is also great for those who are looking for a degree that holds national importance. Also, the fee is relatively cheaper compared to DIT Dehradun, so it is an economic as well as academic option for students. At DIT Dehradun the ECE and EE branch is said to be at par with NIT Sikkim but still does not compete with excellent facilities at NIT Sikkim, which offers a great combination of excellent faculty members, great academic programs, and the tag of a university of national importance. If location is not an issue, NIT Sikkim would be a good option for students looking for admissions in CSE or ECE branch. It offers the best placements and recorded the highest CTC of 24 LPA. In terms of placements, tabulated below is a brief idea on both the institutions: Particulars DIT Dehradun NIT Sikkim Highest CTC INR 12 LPA INR 18.5 LPA Average CTC INR 6 LPA INR 8 LPA Overall Placement Rate 70% 80% While placements vary from branch to branch, it is important to note that getting a good placement is dependent on many factors such as your overall CGPA, communication skills, knowledge and approach, creativity, and hard work. Therefore, students who do not have an issue with location and are looking for a premium heritage university can opt for NIT Sikkim. Compared to DIT Dehradun, NIT Sikkim is a more preferable option.Read more
Ans. The EE branch at NIT Agartala is known to be one of the best branches the institute has to offer. It is known to be extremely reputed and offers the best academic program in the field. Academically, NIT Sikkim does not have any relevant offerings as compared to NIT Agartala. The placement statistics for both institutions are mentioned below: Particulars NIT Sikkim NIT Agartala Placement Rate 85% 75% Highest CTC INR 13 LPA INR 12 LPA Average CTC INR 7 LPA INR 6 LPA The placements at NIT Agartala are conducted directly through the recruitment drive process. Even though the academic program offered by NIT Agartala in EE is up to the mark, the placement facilities can certainly be better. But it is still a better-preferred course because of its faculty and lab services and a wide range of subjects as part of the academic structure. While NIT Agartala observes fewer placements, it oversees a number of top companies as part of its recruitment process. Given a choice between the two institutions, EE from NIT Agartala will be the recommended choice considering the given points and also because it has a greater number of academic resources.Read more
Ans. Being a national institute of importance, NIT Sikkim has grown in terms of its recruitment and placement services. While the website mentions that the placement statistics for the 2014-17 batch was nearly 103%, according to that number the placement rate surpasses even IIT Bombay, which is questionable. The actual rate of placement has been observed to be around 60% where a majority of these placements are bagged through drive or pooling. Because of this factor, relatively fewer companies visit the campus for recruitments. Based on different branches, let us look at the placements specifically: CSE: Over 80% of students are placed but the average median salary is quite low, around INR 6 LPA. Only a few students get the opportunity to be recruited by MNC’s. Some of the main recruiters are Bosch and IBM. Electronics Engineering: The faculty is really good and more than 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 12 LPA. Mechanical Engineering: Popular for its labs and experienced faculty members, this branch observes a comparatively low placement rate since very few companies visit for the mechanical field. The main recruiters are Denso and Intel. Civil Engineering: While the course is well-designed, the placements for this branch are not up to the mark. Although nearly 70% of students are placed, the companies are not MNC’s or reputed. Most students are simply offered internships along with the NIT degree. Electronics and Communication: The placements within this branch are excellent, considering top companies like L&T, Infosys, Intel, Tech Mahindra are all part of the recruitment drive. Nearly 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 17 LPA. The university does have great faculty members who provide students with a good teaching experience. To conclude, it is preferable to take admissions only if you are a dropper. Else, it is always better to appear for JEE Mains again and get a better ranking.Read more
