Total 50

Note: For work experience, IIMV considers eligible full-time, paid work experience acquired after completion of the bachelor’s degree. Candidates with eligible CA, ICWA/CMA, CS or FIAI qualifications may receive weight under the professional course component. Where applicable, the higher of the work experience score or professional course score is considered under the common parameter. Phase 2 shortlisted candidates must submit the required PI consent form to proceed to the interview stage.

Phase 3: Personal Interview and Final Selection

  • Candidates shortlisted for Phase 3 undergo the PI process. However, candidates shortlisted for the PGP(MBA)/PGPM PI of IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, or IIM Indore do not need to attend a separate IIM Visakhapatnam PI. Their average PI score from these IIMs is used for the IIMV admission process.
  • Candidates shortlisted by multiple participating IIMs must attend the PI process of at least one of them. Candidates who are not shortlisted by these IIMs must appear for the IIM Visakhapatnam PI.

How to Calculate the IIMV PGP Final Composite Score?

IIM Visakhapatnam calculates the final composite score out of 100 using the standardised scores obtained in the PI, CAT, academics, gender diversity, and work experience. The following example shows how the final score is calculated:

Component Example Score Weightage Weighted Score
PI 75 48% 36.00
CAT 80 25% 20.00
Class 10 75 4% 3.00
Class 12 70 4% 2.80
Bachelor’s Degree 65 4% 2.60
Gender Diversity 0 5% 0.00
Work Experience 60 10% 6.00
Final Composite Score - 100% 70.40

Calculation:

Final Score = (75 × 0.48) + (80 × 0.25) + (75 × 0.04) + (70 × 0.04) + (65 × 0.04) + (0 × 0.05) + (60 × 0.10) = 70.40

What should I join, SIBM Pune or IIM Visakhapatnam?

Prabhat SharmaB.Tech in Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IITP) (Expected 2025)

Don’t go for IIM Visakhapatnam if you are just attracted by the IIM tag. While it surely is part of the IIM family that does not necessarily mean it has the same standards. Between the two, SIBM Pune gives a slight edge to IIM Visakhapatnam. If you talk about them generally they definitely are good institutions, but they are not the best. IIM Visakhapatnam is not yet recognised at SIBM Pune.

But if your preference is staying in your hometown or other location factors and IIM Visakhapatnam is suitable for you, then go for it. Both are almost similar in terms of worth and academics. At the end of the day it’s not the institution but your own performance that matters.

Is it worth joining IIM Vizag leaving behind the offer from IIM Nagpur?

Pratyasha
Pragya TripathiM.B.A from Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (Graduated 2018)

As a student of the institution, it is important to recognize that comparing institutes can be problematic, as each institution has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. However, when considering institutes within the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) system, it is worth noting that the IIM in Visakhapatnam (IIM Vizag) has a reputation for offering strong academic programming and decent placement opportunities.

This is something that sets it apart from some of the other IIMs and is something that students may want to take into consideration when deciding which institution to attend.

Should I go for an MBA from IIM Visakhapatnam or try next year for some other college?

Consider your goals. IIM Viskhapatnam offers a strong ROI with an average salary of ?16+ lakhs and fees around ?17.8 lakhs. Placements are excellent (100%), but the brand might not match older IIMs yet. If a well-established name is crucial, wait another year. If a quality program with good returns is your priority, IIM Viskhapatnam could be a great fit.
