|---|---|---|
| Fall 2027 - Arts and Sciences priority deadline | 01 December 2026 | Applies to English MA, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, and most humanities and science PhDs |
| Fall 2027 - Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering | 10 December 2026 | Deadline is 10 PM Mountain Time; other engineering departments range from 15 December to 15 January |
| Fall 2027 - English MFA | 15 December 2026 | Portfolio submission required alongside application |
| Undergraduate Fall 2027 - Regular Decision | 15 January 2027 | Early Action deadline was 15 November 2026 |
| Credential verification (WES) | Start 6 to 8 weeks before deadline | WES ICAP evaluation is not mandatory but recommended for CBSE and state board transcripts |
| Fall 2027 semester start | Late August 2027 | Orientation for international students begins mid-August |
Note: Indian applicants should submit test scores and transcripts at least 10 days before their department deadline, since Graduate Admissions verifies uploads before the department begins review. A December 1 deadline effectively means a mid-November working target.

University of Colorado Boulder Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Requirements at CU Boulder are set by the Graduate School with additional department-specific thresholds; the numbers below are the standard baseline for Indian PG applicants.
- Academic eligibility (PG): Four-year bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university with 65% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended baseline); some engineering departments prefer 70% or CGPA 7.0/10.
- English proficiency (PG): TOEFL iBT minimum 80 (Engineering) to 90 (Arts and Sciences departments like Political Science); IELTS 6.5 to 7.0; Duolingo English Test 115 to 120.
- Credential verification: Official transcripts uploaded during application; WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation not mandatory but recommended for state-board bachelor’s degrees.
- Standardised tests: GRE waived for MS Computer Science and MS Data Science; strongly recommended for Aerospace, Physics and Applied Mathematics; GMAT 620 to 700 for MBA at Leeds School.
- Undergraduate requirements: Class 12 completion from a recognised board with strong marks (typically 80% or above for competitive majors like Aerospace and Computer Science), plus TOEFL iBT 76 or IELTS 6.5. SAT/ACT are test-optional through Fall 2027.
Key insight: CU Boulder accepts three-year Indian bachelor’s degrees for MS admission if the department confirms academic equivalency, which is less strict than many US peers requiring four-year 16-year education. Applicants with a 3-year BCom or BA should confirm eligibility with the target department before applying.
University of Colorado Boulder Acceptance Rate 2027
CU Boulder’s most recent published undergraduate acceptance rate is 70.7% for the Fall 2025 cohort, with roughly 51,700 of 73,200 applicants admitted. Graduate acceptance rates vary sharply by department and are not disclosed centrally; competitive MS programmes like Aerospace and Computer Science admit an estimated 20% to 30% (estimated) of international applicants.
| Year | Undergraduate Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2025 | 70.7% | Stable |
| Fall 2024 | 78% | Slight tightening |
Out-of-state applicants (which includes all international students) admitted at a rate of roughly 67%, compared to 81% for in-state Colorado residents. The average admitted student had a Class 12 equivalent GPA of 3.77 out of 4.0.
Reality check: The 70.7% headline is skewed by US undergraduate admissions. Indian MS applicants to Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science face far tighter competition, so an Indian first-class bachelor’s is a baseline rather than a differentiator; research experience and faculty fit weigh most.

The University of Colorado Boulder suits Indian applicants who want a top-tier Aerospace, Atmospheric Science or Geology cohort inside a mid-sized public university, and who value proximity to Denver’s aerospace employers and Rocky Mountain lifestyle. Total two-year MS investment of roughly INR 110 lakh (tuition and living) is defensible against a US market median of INR 100 lakh starting salary and STEM OPT that extends earning years by up to three post-degree.
CU Boulder is not the fit for cost-sensitive applicants without assistantship funding, or those who want the largest possible Indian cohort. Iowa State University and University of Utah offer similar research access at lower total cost, and are worth a parallel application for candidates focused on Aerospace or Materials Science.

Indian applicants should verify current test policy on each specific department’s admissions page before assuming a waiver.
Ques. Which banks offer education loans for University of Colorado Boulder programmes?
Ans. CU Boulder is on the approved list for education loans from HDFC Credila, Avanse, ICICI Bank, SBI Global Education Loan, Axis Bank and Bank of Baroda in India. International lenders like Prodigy Finance and MPOWER Financing offer no-cosigner loans to admitted Indian students at CU Boulder in USD. Loan amounts up to INR 1.5 crore are common for the 2-year MS budget, though collateral requirements differ sharply between public sector and private banks in India.
Ques. What is the application fee for CU Boulder graduate programmes?
Ans. The CU Boulder graduate application fee for international applicants is USD 80 (INR 7,620), payable by credit card at submission. Fee waivers are available for McNair Scholars, first-generation students in select programmes and applicants from certain Graduate School partner institutions. The undergraduate application fee is USD 80 for international students on the Common Application. Fees are non-refundable regardless of admission outcome.
Ques. Are transcripts evaluated through WES for University of Colorado Boulder applications?
Ans. WES evaluation is not mandatory for CU Boulder graduate admission, but the Graduate School recommends it for Indian applicants from state boards or lesser-known universities. Applicants first upload unofficial transcripts with the online application, and if admitted, submit official sealed transcripts directly from the issuing institution. WES ICAP course-by-course reports strengthen borderline files by translating Indian CGPA to a US 4.0 scale that admissions officers read directly.

- I like the campus and infrastructure. I like how the professors are open to helping the students outside of class. There are events and activities around the year and there are abundant part-time opportunities on campus for the students.

- What I don’t like is the fact that my course seems just like a revision of my bachelor’s course in AI. I expected it to be more advanced.
Overview
I chose UCB because it is one of the top-ranked colleges in the US for Data Science and the campus is really beautiful. Apart from this, I had friends here who helped me make this decision by telling me about their experience at UCB. They also made it easier for me to find accommodation and a part-time job. The commute was easy as well as the college ID serves as a transit pass and students can travel anywhere in the city using it. Also free Bicycle pass.
Campus Life
I love the campus life here. The campus itself is very beautiful, located close to the Rocky Mountains. The infrastructure is great. The buildings have been for years and they keep building new ones, renovating the old ones. The university has 4 campuses throughout the US. It has the most facilities a great University would have. It has sports events throughout the year, there are buffalo nights, parties in the connection, several volunteer events to help the community, and events and workshops that help grow personally and professionally. My favourite is the guided painting workshop that happens every month. It has a rec centre and health care centre. The on-campus accommodation is good with good fixit services.
Overview
The MS program at CU Boulder, and the business school was really popular. I read the reviews mentioned by the current students and alumni, and was really impressed. Along with that, the tuition cost was reasonable, and Boulder (Colorado) is a beautiful and calm place to live in. My experience was amazing! The entire city is great. For a person who came to a different country for the first time, it didn't feel like that. Everyone is so accommodating at the university. Be it the staff, faculty or students, they're always eager to help. And, it's not only study that I've seen everyone excel in, but the extra activities are great too.
Campus Life
There are multiple facilities on the campus. Along with multiple libraries, cafes, study rooms, presentation rooms, and study cubicles, they have a University Center where all the students could refresh themselves at the arcade or bowling, play games. There is also a center where we have a great gym, ice-skating area, swimming pool, rock climbing area among others. As for wifi, there's 24*7 wifi in the entire campus. There are multiple sports grounds too. We also have a huge football stadium where everyone comes around to see a match.

- Campus Life was good. It had a very new and growing department called Creative Technology and Design.
- The campus life and location were great situated right in the middle of the mountains. if you are a person for whom campus life is important then UCB is the right place for you. If you love being outdoors, camping, hiking, traveling then you are going to love UCB. The professors and the facilities were also great and the aerospace department is one of the best in the country. Public transport and bus System is also well developed in the town.
Dislikes
- If you are someone who likes nightlife or city life then things can get a little lonely. Also the rent in Boulder is way too high, due to high demand it gets really hard especially for grad students to find a decent accommodation close to campus.
Overview
Overall, I loved it. Boulder is a nice little town located in the middle of the mountains. the views are stunning everywhere you go. The life is slow but peaceful. It is mostly a white dominated communicated but the people are nice. Academically there a lot of opportunities for you and various different dreams available. The job market in Denver is also thriving.

- I’ve chosen your place for two main reasons. First one is the study program. I went through the curriculum for all 2 years, checked every course, and I find your curriculum superior to other competing universities in the country. Second reason is the location of the campus. The campus is located near the beautiful mountains which makes my day joyful in the campus,
- The Flexible and Dynamic Course Curriculum makes it one of the best Universities to enroll in as the professors are highly renowned in the industry and their teachings are vividly used in the industry making the student industry oriented.
Dislikes
- The only thing that I dislike over here is the Unpredictable climate in Boulder. I have suffered severe cold conditions mainly in the months from December to March. The best time of the year which I feel is Summer which lasts for 3 months from June to August.
Overview
Since I was from a non power electronics background, The courses offered in this University helped me realize where my career interests lay. The environment, culture and atmosphere in the Campus is vivid and joyful.
Campus Life
The campus is quite lively as there are more than 50 clubs in the University. Every week, there is one event or the other. There are roughly 10 libraries in the University and The University WiFi has it's connectivity throughout the campus.
Overview
I received in-state tuition, it had a great program for my chosen major. I was then able to receive help and expand my major into a double major with a minor, and I have always loved the CU Campus and the activities as well as Greek organizations that it offers.
Fees
I don't really know that much about the fees for my attendance since my mom is an accountant and does that sort of thing very well. However, I do know that we pay in-state tuition, as well as a fee for boarding, meal plan, and books for each class.
