Case Western Reserve University Acceptance Rate 2027
Case Western Reserve University reported an overall acceptance rate of 26% for its most recent admission cycle, placing it among moderately selective US private research universities. The rate is officially disclosed at institutional level; department-level admit rates for masters programmes are not published centrally.
| Programme Level | Acceptance Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate (institutional) | 26% | Officially disclosed by CWRU |
| MS Computer Science | 15-25% (estimated) | Competitive; verify with department |
| MSBA and MPH | 30-45% (estimated) | Selective; based on prior cohort data |
Indian applicants with CGPA above 7.5/10 and TOEFL above 100 clear the academic bar comfortably. Statement of purpose fit and research alignment drive shortlist decisions at the department level.
Reality check: A 26% acceptance rate looks selective, but CWRU masters admits STEM applicants at higher rates than the institutional headline once academic and English cut-offs are met.

CWRU offers merit and need-based awards for graduate applicants, though named scholarships explicitly targeting Indian nationals are limited. The primary graduate funding route is the departmental assistantship.
| Scholarship / Award | Type | Award Value | Eligibility | Deadline |

Beyond CWRU-administered awards, Indian applicants routinely combine external scholarships such as the Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship, Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship and JN Tata Endowment to bridge the remaining cost gap.
Planning note: Graduate assistantships at CWRU are department-controlled and rarely offered at admission for masters applicants; PhD candidates are funded far more consistently than masters cohorts.

Case Western Reserve University vs Peer Universities
The peers below sit in the same tier of US private research universities that Indian STEM masters applicants typically shortlist alongside CWRU.
| University | Location | Annual PG Tuition (USD / INR lakh) | Standout Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case Western Reserve University | Cleveland, Ohio | USD 57,214 / 54.79 lakh | Nursing, Medicine and biomedical engineering strength |
| University of Rochester | Rochester, New York | USD 62,000 / 59.37 lakh (estimated) | Optics, data science and Simon Business analytics |
| Northeastern University | Boston, Massachusetts | USD 27,000-64,000 / 25.85-61.28 lakh (estimated) | Co-op programme built into most masters degrees |
| Boston University | Boston, Massachusetts | USD 65,000 / 62.24 lakh (estimated) | Wider MSCS and MSBA scale in a top-30 US city |
| Ohio State University | Columbus, Ohio | USD 40,000 / 38.30 lakh (estimated) | Public-university tuition with Big Ten alumni reach |
CWRU stands out for its Cleveland healthcare ecosystem access and lower cost of living relative to Boston or New York peers. For lower-fee alternatives see cheapest universities in USA for MS in Computer Science.
Case Western Reserve University is the right fit for an Indian STEM or health masters applicant whose priority is placing near the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals corridor at a total programme investment below USD 100,000 (INR 95.75 lakh). The 36-month STEM OPT window plus a median starting salary near USD 72,000 (INR 68.94 lakh) makes the ROI defensible for CGPA-7-plus profiles.
CWRU is not the right fit for candidates chasing a top-100 QS rank alone or seeking a large Indian cohort in a warm-climate coastal city. Applicants with those priorities should compare Northeastern in Boston or Arizona State in Tempe as realistic alternatives.

- The University has the best faculty and professors and I really love how they teach every topic in detail and makes sure we understand them.
- I really love the study hubs and library and all the events that take place in the University.
Campus Life
- The campus life is really good with a lot of extracurricular activities and meet and greet, and all. Activities of all nationalities are conducted to promote their culture and ethics.
Fees
- Our total fee is $30,000 for the entire course year.

Likes
- I liked the location of the college. It's in a village. Quite peaceful.
- The Library and Resource structure is very good.
- The accomodation is available inside the campus. It's quite cheap according to the area.
Dislikes
- The research work there is quite good, but teaching quality is not.
- If you want to study logistics, everyone knows Cranfield in UK. No one knows it in finance field.
- Networking will be difficult as it's not in London and all the Finance jobs are in London.
Campus Life
- 1 Campus. Everything is available within the campus. Library, GYM, sports, Medical services, Supermarket, Saloon everything. There were no festivals because of Covid, but there is a student activity centre where everyone meets on a Saturday.
- There was none during the 2020 Covid restrictions so I cannot provide everything in detail about the festival.
Fees
- I totally spent around £36000 in the year 2020-21. It was a Covid year so I was not able to travel much, so my expenses were limited. Around £23,000 were the tuition fees only. You have to pay £1000 to book and if you get a loan or you can show that you have the bank balance to study there, you will get the CAS letter.
- Then, after reaching there, you directly pay the balance payment. For the whole year, as it's a one-year course.

Likes
- Best college I got into that offered me good funding. I actually wanted to go to University of Colorado-Boulder due to having a stronger physics department but I did not know they gave me funding due to a miscommunication.
Overview
I made great lifelong friends, had mostly brilliant professors and learnt a lot. The only criticism I have is I was not able to conduct research despite trying very hard.
Campus Life
There is a ridiculous amount of facilities, infrastructure and campus life is also fun. You can only understand if you joined.
Overview
It was best for my particular course. I had looked at other colleges and their biomedical engineering classes but they weren't as exciting or interesting. Also, the campus of Case is so beautiful. It is very green and they care about the environment.
Fees
I had the scholarship to get into Case and so do most people who get it. It's over 40,000 if you have no help.
Overview
This university is surrounded by three great hospitals that provided good research and internship opportunities. They also provided me with a merit scholarship. For these reasons, I decided to attend CWRU.
Fees
Fees depended on your scholarships and grants. All fees were charged at once at the beginning of each semester to be paid in full. This included any housing or meal plan fees a student may have.
