Sheridan College Oakville admissions run on a rolling International Application Portal, with a Class XII pass at 65 percent for diplomas and a completed bachelor’s degree at 60 percent for graduate certificates as the base eligibility floors for Indian applicants.

  • Fall 2027 (September) is the primary intake; applications are open now and offers begin releasing 1 November 2026.
  • Base tuition sits at CAD 17,026 to CAD 30,600 (INR 11.74 Lakhs to INR 21.09 Lakhs) per year, plus a CAD 100 (INR 6,894) application fee per program choice.
  • UG entry needs Class XII at 65 percent with IELTS 6.0 (no band under 5.5); PG certificates need a bachelor’s with IELTS 6.5 (no band under 6.0).
  • Sheridan does not publish an official acceptance rate; the institutional figure sits near 65 percent, with competitive programs closing earlier.

Sheridan Oakville’s Trafalgar Road campus draws Indian applicants primarily into Animation, Graphic Design, Computer Engineering Technology, Interactive Media Management, and the Graduate Certificate in International Business Management. Indian student reviews cite the polytechnic model, PGWP-aligned diplomas, and Toronto proximity as the top three reasons for choosing Sheridan College Oakville over rival Ontario colleges.

Admission Status: Open. Sheridan’s primary Fall 2027 (September) intake is accepting international applications on rolling admissions via the International Application Portal, with offers releasing from 1 November 2026 onward. Winter 2028 (January) and Summer 2027 (May) are also live on rolling review. The application fee is CAD 100 (around INR 6,894) per program choice, paid on the portal at submission.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use CAD 1 = INR 68.94, the live rate on 18 September 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Sheridan College Oakville Application Deadlines

Sheridan operates rolling admissions on its own International Application Portal rather than a fixed deadline, so seats fill on a first-qualified-first-admitted basis. Indian applicants should apply 4 to 6 months before the intended start date to leave time for offer, deposit, PAL issuance, and study permit approval. Sheridan is an Ontario polytechnic; international students do NOT apply via OCAS, per Sheridan’s international how-to-apply page.

Sheridan’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (September) — most programs open here, and offers begin releasing on 1 November of the prior year.

Sheridan MOI Waiver: Not Open to Indian Applicants

Sheridan’s Medium of Instruction waiver applies only to applicants from a fixed list of 14 exempt countries (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, US, and others). India is not on this list. Indian applicants must submit an approved English test score OR complete Sheridan’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level 5 pathway at Sheridan itself. A Class XII English-medium mark sheet on its own will not exempt you from IELTS at Sheridan.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Sheridan admission requirements page for your chosen program before applying.

Sheridan College Oakville Graduate Certificate Programs

Sheridan College Oakville Application Process

Every international file at Sheridan follows the same six-step sequence. Documents move through Sheridan’s Applicant Portal after submission on the International Application Portal.

  1. Create an account on Sheridan’s International Application Portal and shortlist up to five programs.
  2. Pay the application fee of CAD 100 (around INR 6,894) per program choice on the same International Application Portal — non-refundable.
  3. Upload notarised English translations of your Class XII mark sheet, bachelor’s transcripts, and degree certificate as a single merged PDF.
  4. Upload your IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo score report and passport bio page.
  5. Submit portfolio, story test, or audition for creative programs where required, on the program-specific portal link.
  6. Track file status, respond to document requests, and accept your offer via the Sheridan Applicant Portal.

Insider note: Sheridan is stricter than most Ontario colleges on notarised English translation of Indian mark sheets. Get your Class XII and bachelor’s transcripts translated by a court-recognised translator in India before you apply, not after.

Sheridan College Oakville Admission Decisions and Offers

Sheridan’s decision cycle runs entirely by email through the Applicant Portal. Timelines are tighter than the fixed-round Ontario universities, but slower than the direct-decision UK route.

  • Offer release for Fall 2027: from 1 November 2026 for most programs; portfolio programs from March 2027.
  • Offer acceptance deadline: typically 30 days from the offer letter date, or by 1 May for Fall admits.
  • Tuition deposit: CAD 12,000 to CAD 15,000 (INR 8.27 Lakhs to INR 10.34 Lakhs) due before Sheridan issues your Provincial Attestation Letter.
  • Conditional offers are common if English scores or final mark sheets are pending; Sheridan accepts conditional documents until fee deadline.
  • Deferral policy: one-time deferral to the next intake is permitted before the deposit deadline; write to International Admissions.

Sheridan does NOT release a Provincial Attestation Letter until your tuition deposit is paid, so the deposit is the actual gating step for your study permit application.

Sheridan College Oakville Documents Required

Sheridan accepts scanned PDF copies at application; originals may be requested later. All non-English documents must carry a notarised English translation.

  • Valid Indian passport bio page (minimum 18 months validity beyond intake).
  • Class X and Class XII official mark sheets and passing certificates.
  • Bachelor’s degree transcripts (all semesters), consolidated mark sheet, and degree certificate for PG applicants.
  • Approved English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, or CAEL) issued within 24 months.
  • Statement of Purpose covering choice of program, career fit, and reason for Canada study.
  • Updated CV or resume, mandatory for graduate certificate applicants.
  • Portfolio, story test, or audition material for Animation, Illustration, Interaction Design, and Interactive Media programs.
  • Work-experience letters where the program page lists industry experience as an asset.
  • Passport-size photograph as per Canadian visa specifications.

Note: Sheridan does NOT ask for financial statements at the application stage. Financial documents (GIC, bank statements) are only required at the study permit stage after your offer letter is issued.

Sheridan College Oakville Acceptance Rate

Sheridan does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place the figure at around 65 percent, based on the college’s stated open-door polytechnic model where most applicants who meet the published academic and English floors receive an offer.

Sheridan Program Selectivity for Indians

Ontario College Diplomas and most Graduate Certificates function on a first-qualified-first-admitted basis and remain near 70 percent acceptance. Bachelor’s Degrees in Animation, Illustration, and Interaction Design require a portfolio and story test, dropping their program-level acceptance to roughly 25 to 30 percent.

What Drives a Rejection at Sheridan

The three most common rejection reasons for Indian files are: bachelor’s below 60 percent for graduate certificates, IELTS band below 6.0 for degree programs, and incomplete notarised translations of Class XII or degree transcripts.

Insider note: Sheridan runs no waitlist for closed programs — once a Fall intake fills, applications roll to the next available intake automatically. Apply in the first two months of the cycle if you want an offer before March.

Canada Study Permit for Sheridan College Oakville Students

Indian students admitted to Sheridan apply for a Canadian Study Permit through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Sheridan is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and issues a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) once the tuition deposit is paid — the PAL is mandatory for the study permit file since 2024.

Financial proof for the study permit includes a Guaranteed Investment Certificate of CAD 20,635 (around INR 14.22 Lakhs) from a Scotiabank, ICICI, or CIBC branch in India, first-year tuition receipt, and biometrics at a VFS Canada centre. Standard processing runs 8 to 12 weeks from biometrics, so lodge your permit application within a week of receiving your PAL to keep the September start realistic. Post-arrival, register at the Trafalgar Road campus international desk and confirm your Guard.me health insurance.

2026 update: IRCC’s national study permit cap continues into 2027; Ontario’s provincial allocation is tight, so treat the PAL as your true gating document. Do NOT book flights before your study permit is stamped.

Tips and Application Checklist for Sheridan College Oakville

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Sheridan across the last three Fall cycles and align with the college’s rolling admissions timing.

  • Book IELTS 8 weeks before your intended apply date — Sheridan will not process a file without a valid score, since India is not on the MOI-exempt list.
  • Apply between 1 November 2026 and 31 January 2027 for the Fall 2027 intake to catch the first offer release wave.
  • Notarise Class XII and bachelor’s transcripts in India before uploading; Sheridan rejects re-uploaded scans without a notary stamp.
  • Pay the CAD 12,000+ tuition deposit within 30 days of offer to trigger PAL issuance — the study permit clock only starts here.
  • Book biometrics at VFS Canada within a week of receiving your PAL to hit the 8-week processing window for a September start.
  • Line up your GIC of CAD 20,635 (INR 14.22 Lakhs) at Scotiabank or ICICI before the study permit filing — remittance takes 3 to 5 working days.
  • Portfolio applicants should submit the story test by 15 February 2027 to be in the March offer wave for Animation and Illustration.
  • Explore funding for Indian students — the International Entrance Scholarship of CAD 1,000 to CAD 3,000 (INR 68,940 to INR 2.07 Lakhs) is auto-awarded on eligible full-time enrolment.

Applied together, these steps compress the Sheridan application-to-arrival cycle from the typical 8 months to a workable 6 months for a September 2027 start; skipping any single step usually pushes the offer to the January 2028 intake.

Scholarship

  • Yes, scholarships are available. Depending upon the program you are studying, It is offered accordingly. I got $750 scholarships for each semester. So for two semesters I got $1500. Every student studying with me got this scholarship. Most of my Bach mates got it. I don’t know of a single person who didn’t, to be honest. On average, the basic scholarships are bagged by everyone but the ones with huge amounts, like $3000 or more, are as per eligibility criteria. Some are for specific degree programs, while others are to help disabled people, etc.

Scholarship

  • Yes, there are multiple scholarship programs; I received one from the Sheridan Student Union. Eligibility Criteria was that you needed to break down your finances and must have a GPA above 2.5. I received $500 CAD for that period of time. There are so many students who received scholarships in a year; it totally depends on the donor in that year but it can be around 100 or more.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarships when I applied to Sheridan College for the January 2021 intake. At that time, there were no scholarships automatically awarded to international students because of Covid.
  • Students who maintain a certain GPA during their studies can apply for scholarships, which typically offer around CAD 1,000 per semester.
  • One of my friends received a 1,000 dollar scholarship twice during their academic journey at Sheridan, based on their performance.
  • I’m not exactly sure how many students receive scholarships each year, as the college doesn’t publicly share those statistics in detail.

Overview

I was already working in Talent Acquisition but didn't have an HR degree. I applied to Sheridan due to various factors. I was guided by a friend. Sheridan is close to all Indian amenities & public transportation is fast in the area. After all the experience I will highly recommend trying first University instead of college. Toronto, waterloo, Calgary, Lethbridge or other universities instead of college as a first choice. Choose your course wisely as per 2024 Canada's in-demand skills are Data Analyst/ Nursing/Tool & Die Maker, Power Engineering/ Electric Technician /Engineering, CNC Machinist, Plumbing, and Mechanical Grinder. These are the best courses In demand PR Pathway programs with less competition. 2 years of power Engineering course can land you a 40 -50$ Job at least. The market for IT was good post-COVID-19 but shrank a lot & the trend continues. If you have experience as a net Developer/Data Analyst/Infrastructure support you will still get a chance in the labour market.
