India Study Permit Wait Climbs 2 Weeks Since April

The India figure has moved five times this quarter. It fell to a low of 3 weeks in mid-April. It has since settled at the higher 5-week mark.

Only the Philippines Now Waits Less Than India

• It ends on the day a decision is made.
• It already includes the time taken to give biometrics.
• It excludes any wait for your offer letter or attestation letter.

IRCC also names four reasons a file can run past the estimate. An incomplete application is the first. Complexity, extra security checks and a filled programme cap are the others.

Fall 2026 Applicants Face a Tighter Filing Window

The timing matters more than the two-week rise itself. Most Canadian Fall intakes begin in early September. A file submitted in the last week of July now carries a decision estimate landing in late August.

That leaves almost no buffer for a request for additional documents. Students who have not yet booked biometrics are tighter still. The safer read is that the practical Fall 2026 filing window has effectively closed.

The paperwork load did ease for one cohort this year. Canada drops PAL/TAL for public Master's and PhD applicants from January 1, 2026. Undergraduate and diploma applicants still need the attestation letter.
