Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT) located in Bengaluru, was founded in 1986. It is an AICTE approved private institute with an ISO 901:2008 certification.

Accredited by NBA, Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology has a total enrolment of 2800 students and a well-qualified and experienced faculty of 260. 

At present, the institute offers 9 specializations in B.E, 3 in M.Tech & MBA, 5 in Ph.D. MCA is also offered at the institute. Admissions are conducted through VTU, based on its decision and merit list Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology offers admissions to students.

For B.E admissions students should have passed 10+2 with 45% and must have qualified either K-CET/COMED-K/JEE Mains. Students belonging to Karnataka can appear for K-CET only, while other Indian students can appear for either of the 3 entrances.

M.Tech admissions are offered to those students who have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering & Technology in a relevant discipline. They must also qualify either GATE or PGCET entrance to be eligible for admissions.

MBA and MCA admissions are offered to students who qualify eitherKMAT/PGCET. The students must have passed bachelor’s degree in any discipline for MBA and MCA. 

Students must also have studied Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level for MCA.

Placement for the recent passing out batch, recorded an 88% of placements for 439 students out of 501. There were also students who received more than one offer for placement.

Eligibility Criteria

Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with 45% aggregate in subjects- Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology. (5% relaxation for backward classes of Karnataka).

Admission Process

In order to be eligible for B.E. admissions, students must qualify either COMED-K/K-CET/JEE-Mains. The break-up of the seats has been explained below:

  • Only Karnataka students can appear for KCET. 45% of the seats are reserved for those students who qualify this entrance.
  • COMED-K entrance can be taken by both Karnataka and non-Karnataka residing students. 30% of the seats are reserved for admission for qualifiers.
  • While 25% of the seats are reserved for the students taking admission through the management quota.

K-CET 2020 Applications

Karnataka Common Entrance Test is taken by those students who wish to apply for B.Tech or BE. The application fee is made through a challan, students residing outside Karnataka are required to pay INR 750. The following section gives details for KCET application registration and submission.

JEE Mains Application Submission Requirements 

The application fee for taking this exam varies with the type of candidature. The application fee for the general category is INR 325. The following section throws light on the requirements and the process of registration for JEE Mains.

Documents Required

  • Scanned and recent photograph coloured or black/white (but clear contrast) JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format. Size should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
  • Application forms with unclear photographs will be rejected. 

How to Register?

  • Visit the official website of JEE Main and click on “Fill Online Application Form”.
  • Register by giving your personal details, to generate a user id and password.
  • The application number will be generated after submitting the details for registration.
  • The form requires personal details, address, and mobile number.
  • You can set your security question and password to access the application for the future.
  • Submit the application form by logging in with the same user id and password that you had set.

GATE Application Requirements

  • Final year students must submit Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Dept.
  • Candidates in the final year of AMIE have to submit their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.
  • Caste Certificate/Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable).
