Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for campus placements from semester 7. And then there are internship opportunities from sem 5. Computer department almost always has 100% placement. And they usually get paid internships in the third year itself.

Remarks :

Ranked no 1 in Mumbai excluding the IITs. The brightest minds of the state visit this college. The admission process was handled by DTE and the entrance was CET. There were multiple CAP rounds and the process was almost online.

Placement Experience :

Placements for circuit branches are the best. Almost 100% of the students who opt for placements are placed. Highest package is around 35lpa (Rakuten, work India) which is offered in CS IT department. Companies like Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Samsung, CITI, SAP, Deutsche are among the many high paying companies that visit VJTI religiously every year. Students in TY get opportunities for internships in the campus process, which doesn't usually happen in other units, and students in a final year get jobs through campus placements. Nowadays, VJTI TPO also offers internship opportunities for SY students. I plan on working for a few years and then pursuing further education

Remarks :

VJTI is certainly one of the top colleges in Maharashtra for BTech Program after IITs. The placement process is very very good. The professors aren't that great, but the students educate themselves. Very healthy competition exists which pushes you to work harder and harder. The admission process for me was very simple and straightforward as I got in the first online CAP round and froze the seat. I went through a few quora answers to understand VJTI and HSC professors' guidance, and VJTI was definitely my first choice. I'm in my Final Year in CS right now, and I've had the best 4 years of my life in this college. The infrastructure isn't the best but can clearly be overlooked once you have the yummy food in the canteen.

Remarks :

VJTI is one of the most prestigious college in Maharashtra. It is also one of the oldest one in Asia and ranks the top among colleges you can get in Maharashtra right behind IITB. I visited around 7-8 colleges right before filling the preference list. I talked to students of those colleges and asked them what the real situation is in terms of placements and opportunities and how the faculty is, student activites, etc. I really liked VJTI and so I opted for it.

Placement Experience :

Mostly all students get placed. There is a dedicated TPO which ensures all students get placed. 50-60 students out of the entire college don't get placed, and even for them, companies are called specifically for them later on. A lot of big companies such as L&T, Godrej come for placements for civil. There is also a very detailed Internship program wherein companies recruit interns through college and most provide a PPO depending upon how well the student does.

Remarks :

One of the best in civil engineering. Proximity to my city & moreover faculty & placement of this college. Only colleges in this category were SPCE & COEP for the Civil Branch. I was having doubts as to whether should I go for Mechanical or Civil but then I decided Civil was a good option. However, I feel Civil Engg nowadays has less scope for budding Enggs. Placememt wise VJTI is top ranked. You can expect 10 lpa for a non core job(finance related). But Jobs in Core branches is very limited. For CS/IT VjTI is the best option in Maharashtra because of its ability to attract large no. of companies (Being in Mumbai, oldest college, great alumni network, Great TPO for CS/IT etc.)

Placement Experience :

Many Maharashtrian politicians are vjti diploma holders. Alumni network for jobs is excellent because many of the graduates are internationally placed in MNCs. Placement process is very smooth in regards to formalities. There are also courses to improve your confidence during interviews. Mock Aptitude test are conducted for technical rounds. Best placement for branches like CS, IT, Extc and Tronics students. However core jobs in Btech level are bit scarce.

Ques. Should I Join Kj Somaiya College for Computer or take a drop and Aim for VJTI?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 05 Apr 21

Ans. Between KJ Somaiya and VJTI, the latter is definitely better. Whether or not you should take a year drop that depends on you and how important is this year to you.  Comparison: If you compare KJ Somaiya and VJTI, in terms of placement and higher education you will see that the best students from KJ Somaiya do get similar opportunities as VJTI students. One of my friends attended VJTI and got placed in a company that was one of the best to visit KJ Somaiya too. So, he has 4-6 colleagues from KJ Somaiya.  As long as brand value goes, after 5 years of the compilation of your course, no one will care where are you from VJTI or KJ Somaiya.  People will care if you are from IIT though because IIT brand-name sticks.  A word of advice, dropping a year to join VJTI may not be worth it. If you are going to drop a year, try to get into an IIT or IIIT.Read more

Ques. What are the minimum marks required to get admission in IT or CS at KJ Somaiya College or VJTI through the MH CET or the JEE?

● Top Answer By Akhil Guska on 23 Mar 21

Ans. For VJTI’s CS department, you are required to be in the top 150 students in CET. Alongside those, the IT cutoff as seen in a specific year was around the ranking of 325. These as mentioned are for a general female or male candidate. The candidates who are to appear must however have scored more than 50% in 10 + 2 examinations from a recognized board of education. The Selection Criteria will be Entrance Based (MHT - CET). As far as the closing rank of KJ Somaiya is concerned, then for CS, it was considered to be around 3500 and for IT, the closing rank was known to be somewhere ranging between and around 6500. Besides, the rank mentioned latter is for non-minority candidates. But, if you are anyhow a Gujrati minority, then being selected in the institute is not much of a hassle. For the department of CS, the cutoff was ranged to be around the ranking of 7000, and similarly, for IT, it was around the ranking of 14000. From sometime in a particular year, KJ Somaiya is expected to initiate its own University. And it can drastically alter the above mentioned numbers and disproportionate it in any specific manner. Besides, it also is supposed to conduct its own entrance exam in sometime or might also have initiated, the notice of which will be denoted in the college section area.Read more

Ques. If I am interested in mechanical engineering, which is better, COEP, the College of Engineering Pune, or VJTI in Mumbai, and are they both comparable to VNIT in Nagpur?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 16 Jan 21

Ans. As a student you should check the following areas and take them into consideration while choosing a particular institution.  Research- VNIT, and COEP beats VJTI in these criteria. Students can do research here under college professors on winter vacations. Placements- VNIT provides unpaid internships to students through the alumni association. IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT. However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT. Categories COEP Pune VJTI Mumbai VNIT Nagpur No of recruiters 50+ 100+ 136 Highest Recruiting Branch CSE - CSE Highest CTC 38 LPA 24.5 LPA 22 LPA Average CTC 3.5 LPA 6 LPA 3.3 LPA Course Fee 40,000 82,350 49 lakh Campus Life- VNIT is best in terms of campus life. There are ample hostel facilities for the students. Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India. There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students. Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular. Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP. Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.Read more

Ques. Which is better, a CS at VIT, VJTI, BITS Goa, BITS Hyderabad, or NIT?

● Top Answer By Debdeep Majumder on 16 Jan 21

Ans. BITS Goa boasts highly of its alumni network. And, the proof of the same is visible with students getting masters from Carnegie Mellon, placements in Google Mountain View, Amazon Seattle, Apple Cupertino, Microsoft Redmond, Facebook Menlo Park, 6+ in Amazon India, 6+ in Flipkart, 4+ in Epic Systems, Goldman Sachs, etc.  Students at BITS have a compulsory six-month internship (for a single degree) and a 12 month internship (for a dual degree). People also get PPOs with a stipend between 20-30k. The companies which offer internships are Amazon, Microsoft Research, Nutanix, Flipkart, Dreamworks (USA), Samsung, EMC, etc. These internships reward 20 credits to the semester score of a student. Criteria BITS Hyderabad VJTI BITS Goa VIT NIT (taking Trichy which is at 1st in NITs) Course Fee 4.23 lakhs (1st year) 82,350 3.99 lakhs (1st year) 1.98 lakhs (1st year) 1.49 lakhs (1st year fees) No. of Companies 200 100+ 310 700 220 Highest CTC 40 LPA 24.5 LPA 43.3 LPA 44 LPA 40 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA 8-10 LPA 24.8 LPA 6.05 LPA 4.5 LPA There is also a considerable fee difference amongst all the colleges. BITS alumni have a wider reach than the NITs. There are no visible NIT alumni working in large numbers in Amazon, Flipkart, McKinsey, Bain, etc. NIT graduates usually opt for MTech in IITs to grab the mentioned companies. So thereby, there stands no chance to compare BITS with VIT. BITS students are responsible for giving the most reliable startups via RedBus, Swiggy. Microsoft and Google use the innovation of Postman which was a creation by BITS students when they interned at Yahoo.  To conclude, BITS Goa stands better than all the above options relying on its outcomes. Students from other universities also, will agree with the following facts about BITS Goa.Read more

Ques. What is better between an engineering degree from Mumbai University or from any autonomous institute like VJTI, KJ Somaiya or SPIT?

● Top Answer By Monika on 04 Jan 21

Ans. You may have confused SPIT (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) with SPCE (Sardar Patel College of Engineering). SPIT is not an autonomous institute. The courses offered in SPIT are Computers, IT, Electronics, and Electronics and Telecom. Deciding Factors: If you are looking for any particular program, then you should narrow down your choice of college based on courses. If you are more college-driven then you should go through the following points to make the right decision. First, you should ask yourself about what do you want out of your engineering degree, whether it is academics, extracurricular, or co-curricular.  Also, it depends on your future goals. Whether you want good placements, seek higher education, or go for start-ups.  VJTI: Considering all the factors, VJTI is the best option. It is an autonomous college with a strong foundation. It also has a broad alumni base.  All these factors result in better internship opportunities, better placing companies, and a better network in education.  For extracurriculars, most of the engineering colleges in Mumbai offer almost the same opportunities. However, Thandomal, DJSCOE, and RAIT offer mesmerizing events. However, since extracurricular is not the sole factor of consideration, VJTI will be sufficient.  The placement statistics of recent years at VJTI are as follows. Average CTC 6.8 LPA Highest CTC 27 LPA Academics and co-curricular do not depend on the institute only. It is what you make of it. VJTI is the best choice as it provides a good network and exposure. Preference Order: The preference order of the institutes other than VJTI is as follows.  Placement- SPIT>DJSCOE>KJSCOE Reputation- SPIT>KJSCOE>DJSCOE Academics- SPIT>DJSCOE>KJSCOE Alumni- DJSCOE>KJSCOE>SPIT Extracurricular- DJSCOE>SPIT>KJSCOE If you get admission to VJTI you should definitely opt for it. You should consider what course you are choosing and research about the facilities and placements. For example, CS at SPIT has better placement than ME at VJTI or any of the other colleges mentioned here.  Also, autonomous colleges have better administration in MU. They have a better examination schedule, quick result release and you will have higher chances of securing a good CGPA.Read more
