Ques. If I am interested in mechanical engineering, which is better, COEP, the College of Engineering Pune, or VJTI in Mumbai, and are they both comparable to VNIT in Nagpur?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 16 Jan 21

Ans. As a student you should check the following areas and take them into consideration while choosing a particular institution.  Research- VNIT, and COEP beats VJTI in these criteria. Students can do research here under college professors on winter vacations. Placements- VNIT provides unpaid internships to students through the alumni association. IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT. However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT. Categories COEP Pune VJTI Mumbai VNIT Nagpur No of recruiters 50+ 100+ 136 Highest Recruiting Branch CSE - CSE Highest CTC 38 LPA 24.5 LPA 22 LPA Average CTC 3.5 LPA 6 LPA 3.3 LPA Course Fee 40,000 82,350 49 lakh Campus Life- VNIT is best in terms of campus life. There are ample hostel facilities for the students. Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India. There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students. Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular. Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP. Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.Read more

Ques. Which is better, a CS at VIT, VJTI, BITS Goa, BITS Hyderabad, or NIT?

● Top Answer By Debdeep Majumder on 16 Jan 21

Ans. BITS Goa boasts highly of its alumni network. And, the proof of the same is visible with students getting masters from Carnegie Mellon, placements in Google Mountain View, Amazon Seattle, Apple Cupertino, Microsoft Redmond, Facebook Menlo Park, 6+ in Amazon India, 6+ in Flipkart, 4+ in Epic Systems, Goldman Sachs, etc.  Students at BITS have a compulsory six-month internship (for a single degree) and a 12 month internship (for a dual degree). People also get PPOs with a stipend between 20-30k. The companies which offer internships are Amazon, Microsoft Research, Nutanix, Flipkart, Dreamworks (USA), Samsung, EMC, etc. These internships reward 20 credits to the semester score of a student. Criteria BITS Hyderabad VJTI BITS Goa VIT NIT (taking Trichy which is at 1st in NITs) Course Fee 4.23 lakhs (1st year) 82,350 3.99 lakhs (1st year) 1.98 lakhs (1st year) 1.49 lakhs (1st year fees) No. of Companies 200 100+ 310 700 220 Highest CTC 40 LPA 24.5 LPA 43.3 LPA 44 LPA 40 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA 8-10 LPA 24.8 LPA 6.05 LPA 4.5 LPA There is also a considerable fee difference amongst all the colleges. BITS alumni have a wider reach than the NITs. There are no visible NIT alumni working in large numbers in Amazon, Flipkart, McKinsey, Bain, etc. NIT graduates usually opt for MTech in IITs to grab the mentioned companies. So thereby, there stands no chance to compare BITS with VIT. BITS students are responsible for giving the most reliable startups via RedBus, Swiggy. Microsoft and Google use the innovation of Postman which was a creation by BITS students when they interned at Yahoo.  To conclude, BITS Goa stands better than all the above options relying on its outcomes. Students from other universities also, will agree with the following facts about BITS Goa.Read more

Ques. What is better between an engineering degree from Mumbai University or from any autonomous institute like VJTI, KJ Somaiya or SPIT?

● Top Answer By Monika on 04 Jan 21

Ans. You may have confused SPIT (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) with SPCE (Sardar Patel College of Engineering). SPIT is not an autonomous institute. The courses offered in SPIT are Computers, IT, Electronics, and Electronics and Telecom. Deciding Factors: If you are looking for any particular program, then you should narrow down your choice of college based on courses. If you are more college-driven then you should go through the following points to make the right decision. First, you should ask yourself about what do you want out of your engineering degree, whether it is academics, extracurricular, or co-curricular.  Also, it depends on your future goals. Whether you want good placements, seek higher education, or go for start-ups.  VJTI: Considering all the factors, VJTI is the best option. It is an autonomous college with a strong foundation. It also has a broad alumni base.  All these factors result in better internship opportunities, better placing companies, and a better network in education.  For extracurriculars, most of the engineering colleges in Mumbai offer almost the same opportunities. However, Thandomal, DJSCOE, and RAIT offer mesmerizing events. However, since extracurricular is not the sole factor of consideration, VJTI will be sufficient.  The placement statistics of recent years at VJTI are as follows. Average CTC 6.8 LPA Highest CTC 27 LPA Academics and co-curricular do not depend on the institute only. It is what you make of it. VJTI is the best choice as it provides a good network and exposure. Preference Order: The preference order of the institutes other than VJTI is as follows.  Placement- SPIT>DJSCOE>KJSCOE Reputation- SPIT>KJSCOE>DJSCOE Academics- SPIT>DJSCOE>KJSCOE Alumni- DJSCOE>KJSCOE>SPIT Extracurricular- DJSCOE>SPIT>KJSCOE If you get admission to VJTI you should definitely opt for it. You should consider what course you are choosing and research about the facilities and placements. For example, CS at SPIT has better placement than ME at VJTI or any of the other colleges mentioned here.  Also, autonomous colleges have better administration in MU. They have a better examination schedule, quick result release and you will have higher chances of securing a good CGPA.Read more

Ques. I am getting both ICT, Mumbai (Chemical Engineering) and VJTI CS. Which one should I opt for and why?

● Top Answer By Karan Luthra on 30 Oct 20

Ans. ICT Mumbai holds 18th rank among the best universities of India by NIRF ranking. Admissions for chemical engineering in ICT Mumbai are based on the rank of JEE mains followed by counselling. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute holds 26th rank by the week in 2019. Likewise in ICT Mumbai, the admission process for CS in this Institute is the same followed by counselling and interview. Tabulated below are few of the differences between ICT, Mumbai (Chemical Engineering) and VJTI CS. Category VJTI ICT, Mumbai Total course fee 3.24 lakhs 3.41 lakhs Total seats 60 75 Application fee 1000 INR 800 INR Average salary 7.7 lakhs 4.8 lakhs Admission: The admission process for both the Institutes is the same and fully online. Admissions at VJTI are based on Maharashtra common entrance test called (MHT CET) and if seats still left vacant then admissions will take place on the rank of JEE mains. ICT Mumbai takes admission through JEE Mains. Students should also have at least 50% in 12th board with required subjects. Placements: ICT Mumbai: Companies like Asian Paints, BASF India, Black & Veatch, Cipla, DSM SOFT, Evalueserve, Exxon, Galaxy Surfactants, HONEYWELL, etc visit the campus every year. The average salary offered to students of chemical engineering graduate from this Institute is of 4.8 lakhs and the highest package is up to 15 lakhs. VJTI: Companies like Ambuja Cement, Amdocs, Bajaj Finserv, Bank of America, Barclays Bank, Blue Star, Capgemini, CRISIL, DeloitteConsulting, etc visit the campus for good placements. The average salary offered to a student of VJTI is up to 7.7 lakhs and the highest salary package is up to 20 lakhs. Facilities: ICT Mumbai: The university has big and spacious classrooms. All necessary facilities like labs, hostel facilities, sports facilities, etc are available on campus. Teachers are well-experienced and helpful. Most of them are PhD holders. VJTI: University has a huge campus with all necessary facilities like equipped labs, sports ground, spacious classrooms, Wi-Fi facilities and all. Teachers are very knowledgeable and well experienced in their particular fields. Both the Institutes are good and have a similar fee structure but if we compare regarding placements and average salary then VJIT is far better than ICT, Mumbai. Otherwise, both have equally good facilities and a friendly environmentRead more

Ques. What should I choose, NITK, Surathkal in electronics and communications, or VJTI, Mumbai in computer engineering?

● Top Answer By Mora Venkata Krishna Moha on 23 Oct 20

Ans. National Institute of Technology, Suratkhal (NIT Suratkhal), offers a four-year bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication. With the 123 seat markup, the competition can get pretty competitive, as it yields towards high paying placement packages from a great program.  VJTI, Mumbai also offers a similar 4-year program in computer engineering, with students getting placement offers from the company's consolidated campus drive.  Students confused amongst the degrees can judge both by the lens of public demand and professional relevance. Electronics and Communications, NITK, Surathkal Particulars Electronics and Communication Engineering Fees INR 5,39,000 Placement Percentage 100% Highest Package 24 LPA Average Package 8-9 LPA Course Outlook NITK offers a four-year bachelor's and a two-year master's degree in Electronics and Communications, with amazing lectures, practical training, and a guaranteed placement drive waiting at the end of each program. NIRF ranks its program at 33rd place, while India Today awards this particular bachelor's degree at 15th out of 30 colleges. Infrastructure The college has some of the best infrastructures, with fully equipped labs, classrooms, and an added luxury of a great ambiance.  Students willing to opt for a hostel can do so comfortably, as it comes with a great many amenities.  Computer Engineering, VJTI, Mumbai  Particulars Electronics and Communication Engineering Fees INR 3,22,000 Placement Percentage 100% Highest Package 27 LPA Average Package 3.85 LPA Course Outlook VJTI offers a four-year bachelor's course in computer engineering, focused on the design and development of computers and technological devices. NIRF ranks the course at 71st place out of the 300 eligible contenders, whereas THE Week ranks it at 26 places among 130 different colleges.  Infrastructure VJTI's campus is like no other, with its halls containing anything and everything required for modern technical education.  Although there are many good points about both of these colleges, once you are settled on the course, the decision gets easier. Out of both options, a computer engineering degree at VJTI college is a far better program, yielding the best opportunities for fresh graduates in this challenging young world.Read more

VJTI is certainly one of the top colleges in Maharashtra for BTech Program after IITs. The placement process is very very good. The professors aren't that great, but the students educate themselves. Very healthy competition exists which pushes you to work harder and harder. The admission process for me was very simple and straightforward as I got in the first online CAP round and froze the seat. I went through a few quora answers to understand VJTI and HSC professors' guidance, and VJTI was definitely my first choice. I'm in my Final Year in CS right now, and I've had the best 4 years of my life in this college. The infrastructure isn't the best but can clearly be overlooked once you have the yummy food in the canteen.
