Other Updates2

08 Oct, 2026 CAT 2026 is scheduled for Nov 29, 2026. The admit card will be released on Nov 4, 2026, @iimcat.ac.in. Read More.

SDA Bocconi Asia Center Admission 2027 runs through three separate routes, each with its own form and its own calendar.

  • International Master in Business (IMB) admission is based on a Common Admission Test (CAT), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), NMAT by GMAC or Bocconi Test score, followed by an artificial intelligence interview and a panel interview.
  • International Executive Master in Business (IEMB) admission is based on 9 or more years of full time work experience, a GMAT, GRE or SDA Bocconi test score, a manager recommendation and an interview.
  • Executive programs are filled by direct enrolment through the institute, with no entrance exam and no merit list.

IMB applications generally open in November for the batch that starts the following June. CAT 2026 is held on November 29, 2026, and the NMAT by GMAC 2026 window runs from November 2 to December 20, 2026. GMAT and GRE are taken on demand through the year.

The institute declares no qualifying percentile for the IMB program and publishes no merit list, so an average test score can be offset by academics and profile. Its own Bocconi Test is offered free of extra charge to applicants who hold no usable score. The hardest filter is academic rather than competitive: a candidate needs 55 percent in each of Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, plus a 70 percent average across the three. One application covers both the admission decision and the tuition waiver decision, so there is no separate scholarship form.

Admission Update

  • IMB: Round 1 applications for the 2027-29 batch close on November 30, 2026. Round 2 closes on January 25, 2027.
  • IMB Round 3: The institute has not released the Round 3 deadline. It is expected in March 2027, in line with the previous cycle.
  • IEMB: The next intake begins in January 2027, and its main application round closes in October 2026.

SDA Bocconi Asia Center IMB Admission 2027

The International Master in Business is a 22 month full time program taught in English at Powai, Mumbai. The batch that enters in June 2027 is the 16th edition of the program. Four of those months are spent at Bocconi in Milan, between September 2028 and December 2028, and the program ends in May 2029. Course level detail for this route is covered on the SDA Bocconi Asia Center IMB page.

Particulars Details
Program International Master in Business (IMB)
Duration 22 months, full time
Campus Powai, Mumbai, with a four month term in Milan
Batch start June 2027
Graduation May 2029
Accepted exams CAT, GMAT, GRE, NMAT by GMAC, Bocconi Test
Application fee INR 3,500

The institute does not release a public seat matrix for the IMB program. Scale is visible in the graduating batch instead: 378 students received the IMB diploma in the Class of 2026 at the 13th convocation, drawn from 25 Indian states and union territories. Admission is handled end to end by the institute's own admissions committee.

IMB Admission Dates 2027

Applications for the 2027-29 cycle open in November 2026, and the cycle runs in rounds until the seats are filled. Each round closes on a fixed date, and applications submitted in a round are evaluated against that round alone.

Event Date
Application opens November 2026
Round 1 submission deadline November 30, 2026
Round 2 submission deadline January 25, 2027
Round 3 submission deadline March 2027
Program begins June 2027
Milan term September 2028
Graduation May 2029

The Round 1 and Round 2 deadlines are fixed by the institute for this batch. The Round 3 month follows the previous cycle, when Round 3 closed on March 23, 2026. A fourth round may be opened after that, subject to seat availability, and no date has been published for it.

Editor's Tip: Round 1 closes on November 30, 2026, which is the day after the CAT 2026 test. Your CAT 2026 result reaches you only in January 2027, so Round 1 works only if you already hold a valid CAT 2025, NMAT, GMAT or GRE score, or you opt for the Bocconi Test. If you are waiting on CAT 2026, Round 2 on January 25, 2027 is your round.

IMB Entrance Exam Dates 2027

Five scores are accepted for the IMB application, and each carries its own validity window. A candidate submits any one of them, and holding more than one score is allowed.

Exam Score Validity Exam Date or Window
CAT CAT 2025 or CAT 2026 November 29, 2026
NMAT by GMAC NMAT 2025 or NMAT 2026 November 2 to December 20, 2026
GMAT Taken after January 1, 2023 On demand through the year
GRE Taken after January 1, 2024 On demand through the year
Bocconi Test Scheduled for the live cycle only Online, after the application is submitted

Registration for the CAT 2026 exam ran from August 3, 2026 to September 22, 2026, and admit cards are released from November 4, 2026. CAT 2026 results are declared in January 2027, which comes between the Round 2 and Round 3 deadlines.

Registration for the NMAT by GMAC 2026 exam closes on October 10, 2026, and slot scheduling stays open until October 22, 2026. The test runs across a seven week window, so a candidate books a slot of their choice inside it.

Scores from the GMAT exam are accepted when the test was taken after January 1, 2023, and the GRE window is narrower at January 1, 2024. Both tests are taken on demand, so a candidate applying in Round 2 or Round 3 can still sit one of them.

The Bocconi Test is the institute's own screening test and carries no additional fee beyond the application fee. It runs about 70 minutes and has 54 questions across verbal reasoning, numeric reasoning and inductive reasoning, with 18 questions in each section. The test is computer adaptive, there is no negative marking, and it is delivered online in every city. Results are reported as a pass or a fail, and no score is disclosed. Applicants who hold a valid CAT, NMAT by GMAC, GMAT or GRE score need not take it, though candidates whose scores sit below the institute's own averages are asked to attempt it before the application proceeds.

IMB Eligibility Criteria 2027

Academic eligibility is checked at three levels and then again on the average of all three. Both tests have to clear, and there is no relaxation published for either.

Particulars Details
Qualifying degree Undergraduate degree in any discipline, or final year at the time of applying
Minimum marks 55 percent each in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation
Aggregate bar 70 percent average across Class 10, Class 12 and graduation
Entrance score CAT, NMAT by GMAC, GMAT, GRE or Bocconi Test
Work experience Up to 5 years after graduation, not mandatory
Application fee INR 3,500

The program is built for freshers and young executives, so experience beyond 5 years after graduation takes a candidate outside the intended profile. Only full time remunerative employment is assessed as work experience. Self employment is counted where the applicant substantiates it with income tax returns. Internships and training stints do not count towards the experience assessment.

Editor's Tip: Add your Class 10, Class 12 and graduation percentages and divide by three before you pay the application fee. The 70 percent average is checked alongside the 55 percent floor at each level, and failing either one ends the application. If your graduation marks are on a grade scale, use your university's own conversion formula rather than a thumb rule.

IMB Selection Criteria 2027

Selection runs in two interview stages after the application is screened. An artificial intelligence based interview comes first, and the panel interview follows only for candidates who clear it.

  • Application screening: the test score, curriculum vitae, transcripts and essays are reviewed together.
  • Bocconi Test: scheduled by email after submission, for applicants who need it.
  • Artificial intelligence interview: an online assessment round that precedes the panel stage.
  • Personal interview: conducted by the admissions panel, covering communication, problem solving and overall profile.
  • Admissions committee review: the final decision and the tuition waiver decision are taken together.

Five things are weighed in the final call: academic ability and consistency, the entrance test score, the significance of any work experience, extra curricular achievement and soft skills, and performance across the two interview rounds. No numerical weightage split is published for any of them. The institute is explicit that a high test score helps but is not decisive, and that an average score can be compensated by strength elsewhere in the profile.

Editor's Tip: Treat the artificial intelligence round as a real stage, not a formality. It gates the panel interview, so record it in a quiet room with a stable connection and answer in complete sentences. Keep two or three concrete examples from your work or college projects ready, because the panel round reuses the same ground in more depth.

IMB Expected Cutoff 2027

No cutoff is declared for the IMB program, and no merit list is published for enrolling students. The institute sets no minimum qualifying score on any of the five accepted tests, which means a scorecard alone neither secures nor blocks a shortlist. Year on year trends for the program are tracked on the SDA Bocconi Asia Center cutoff page.

The figures below are expected competitive bands for a Round 1 applicant, not the final scores and not an official cutoff. They indicate the range at which a candidate is in comfortable territory, rather than a threshold the institute applies.

Exam Expected Competitive Band
CAT 85 to 90 percentile
NMAT by GMAC 200 to 220

A candidate below those bands is not ruled out. The Bocconi Test exists precisely for applicants whose score is weak or absent, and it reports only a pass or a fail, so a modest percentile can be set aside in favour of the institute's own assessment. Applicants with a strong academic record and clear work achievement are the ones who benefit most from that route.

How to Apply for IMB 2027?

The application is submitted online through the institute's admissions portal, and the fee is INR 3,500 for all applicants. The form is round based, so a candidate chooses a round and submits everything before that round's deadline.

  1. Open the IMB admission page and start the online application form for the 2027-29 batch.
  2. Fill in personal, academic and professional details, and complete the essay questions in the form.
  3. Upload the curriculum vitae on the institute's template, along with transcripts and photo identity proof.
  4. Enter the entrance test score, or select the Bocconi Test if no valid score is held.
  5. Pay the application fee of INR 3,500 and submit before the round deadline.
  6. Take the Bocconi Test on the slot emailed after submission, where applicable.
  7. Appear for the artificial intelligence interview and then the personal interview with the panel.
  8. Check the offer letter, which also carries the tuition waiver decision and the instalment schedule.

A candidate who misses a round is not shut out of the cycle. The application carries over into the next round at the institute's discretion, and later rounds are decided against the seats still open, so the practical difficulty of admission rises as the cycle moves on.

Documents Required for IMB Admission

Every document is uploaded inside the online form, and the graduation mark sheets go in as one combined file. An incomplete upload is the most common reason an otherwise eligible application stalls.

  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Class 12 mark sheet
  • All semester or year wise graduation mark sheets, combined into a single PDF
  • Degree certificate, or the provisional certificate where the degree is awaited
  • Updated curriculum vitae on the template the institute provides
  • Photo identity proof, such as a passport or a permanent account number card
  • Digital passport size photograph
  • Entrance test scorecard, which is not required for Bocconi Test takers

Final year applicants upload the mark sheets available to them and submit the degree or provisional certificate when the result is declared. An offer in that situation is conditional on clearing the bachelor's degree before the program begins.

SDA Bocconi Asia Center IEMB Admission 2027

The International Executive Master in Business is a 15 month program for mid senior professionals, and the intake that begins in January 2027 graduates in March 2028. Classes are held in person for three days a month, from Friday to Sunday, with selected sessions delivered online. The cohort it is built for is senior: average work experience in the batch is 16.4 years, so this is not an alternative route into the IMB program for a candidate with two or three years of experience.

IEMB Admission Dates

The IEMB cycle opens eight months before the batch starts and closes in two rounds. An early round comes first, and the main round follows.

Event Date
Admission process opens May 2026
Early round deadline June 2026
Main application deadline October 2026
Program begins January 2027
Graduation March 2028

The institute fixes the program start and graduation months for this intake. The round months follow its published admission cycle, which lists an early round deadline of June 20 and a main application deadline of October 22 without printing a year beside either. An applicant who misses the main round waits for the cycle that opens in May for the following January start.

IEMB Eligibility Criteria

Work experience is the binding criterion for this route, and 9 years is the stated floor. Academic eligibility is far lighter than on the IMB side.

Particulars Details
Qualifying degree Undergraduate degree in any discipline
Work experience 9 or more years, or a young entrepreneur profile
Employment status Current full time employment
Entrance score GMAT or GRE taken after January 1, 2020, or the SDA Bocconi test
Language English proficiency
Application fee INR 4,000

Exceptions to the experience bar are considered for outstanding profiles, which keeps the route open to founders who have fewer years behind them. The GMAT and GRE validity window here is wider than the IMB window, since scores from January 1, 2020 onwards are accepted. A candidate without either score takes the institute's own test instead.

IEMB Selection Criteria and Application Steps

The IEMB process has three steps and ends in a formal offer letter. A manager recommendation is part of the file, which is the main structural difference from the IMB application.

  1. Submit the online application with the required documents and the non refundable application fee of INR 4,000.
  2. Complete the evaluation stage, which combines the GMAT, GRE or internal test score, a letter of recommendation from a current or previous manager, and a personal interview.
  3. Receive the offer letter once the selection round is complete.

Evaluation weighs academic and professional background, stated motivations and demonstrated skills. The resume carries more weight on this route than on the IMB route, and the admissions team reviews it directly on request before the application is filed. Tuition waivers on this route are awarded on academic background, professional achievement, functional expertise, test performance and the interview, and they are limited in number.

SDA Bocconi Asia Center IMB vs SPJIMR PGDM vs SIBM Mumbai MBA

An applicant shortlisting the IMB program in Mumbai is usually also looking at the Post Graduate Diploma in Management at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) and the Master of Business Administration at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Mumbai. The three run on entirely different entry mechanics.

Particulars SDA Bocconi Asia Center SPJIMR SIBM Mumbai
Entrance Exams Accepted CAT, GMAT, GRE, NMAT, Bocconi Test CAT or GMAT SNAP only
Published Qualifying Bar None declared CAT 85 overall, 75 sectional None declared
Shortlisting Basis Academics, test score, profile Profile score plus qualifying exam score SNAP score
Next Stage Artificial intelligence round plus panel interview Two rounds of group interviews Group exercise plus personal interaction
Published Merit Weightage None disclosed Composite score, split not disclosed SNAP 50, group exercise 10, interaction 40
Work Experience Window Up to 5 years Up to 5 years No cap published

Note: SDA Bocconi Asia Center is the most forgiving of the three on the entrance score, since it names five acceptable tests and declares no bar on any of them. SPJIMR is the opposite, with a published sectional and overall percentile gate before a profile is even read. SIBM Mumbai sits between the two, accepting only Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) but publishing the exact marks split that decides the merit list, which is the one number the other two keep private.

SDA Bocconi Asia Center Admission FAQs

Ques. What is the last date to apply for SDA Bocconi Asia Center IMB 2027?

Ans. Round 1 for the 2027-29 batch closes on November 30, 2026. Round 2 closes on January 25, 2027. A third round is expected in March 2027, and a fourth round may follow subject to seat availability.

Ques. Which entrance exams does SDA Bocconi Asia Center accept for the IMB program?

Ans. Five scores are accepted: CAT 2025 or 2026, NMAT by GMAC 2025 or 2026, GMAT taken after January 1, 2023, GRE taken after January 1, 2024, and the institute's own Bocconi Test. Any one of them is enough.

Ques. What is the minimum percentage required for IMB admission?

Ans. A candidate needs 55 percent in each of Class 10, Class 12 and graduation. Separately, the average of those three has to be at least 70 percent. Both conditions apply together.

Ques. Can final year students apply to the IMB program?

Ans. Yes. Final year undergraduates are eligible at the time of applying. Any offer is conditional on completing the degree and submitting the degree or provisional certificate before the program begins in June 2027.

Ques. What is the Bocconi Test and who has to take it?

Ans. It is the institute's own online screening test of about 70 minutes, with 54 computer adaptive questions across verbal, numeric and inductive reasoning. It is required for applicants without a valid CAT, NMAT by GMAC, GMAT or GRE score, and for those whose score is below the institute's averages.

Ques. Does the Bocconi Test have negative marking?

Ans. No. There is no penalty for a wrong answer. The result is reported only as a pass or a fail, and no score is shared with the candidate.

Ques. Is there a cutoff percentile for IMB admission?

Ans. No cutoff is declared and no merit list is published. Expected competitive bands for a Round 1 applicant are 85 to 90 percentile on CAT and 200 to 220 on NMAT by GMAC, which are indicative only and not official thresholds.

Ques. What is the IMB application fee?

Ans. The application fee is INR 3,500. It covers the Bocconi Test as well, so a candidate who opts for that test pays nothing extra.

Ques. Is direct admission or a management quota available at SDA Bocconi Asia Center?

Ans. No. Both master programs admit only through the online application, the eligibility check and the interview rounds. Any offer of a guaranteed seat through an agent should be checked with the admissions desk before any payment is made.

Ques. How much work experience is allowed for the IMB program?

Ans. Up to 5 years after graduation. Experience is not mandatory, and only full time remunerative employment is assessed. Self employment is counted where it is substantiated with income tax returns.

Ques. What is the eligibility for the IEMB program?

Ans. An undergraduate degree in any discipline, 9 or more years of work experience or a young entrepreneur profile, current full time employment, English proficiency, and a GMAT or GRE score taken after January 1, 2020 or the SDA Bocconi test.

Ques. When does the IMB 2027-29 batch start and where is it taught?

Ans. The batch begins in June 2027 at the Powai campus in Mumbai and graduates in May 2029. Four months of the program, from September 2028 to December 2028, are spent at Bocconi in Milan.

Ques. Is a separate scholarship application needed at SDA Bocconi Asia Center?

Ans. No separate form is involved. The admissions committee decides the tuition waiver from the same application, test score and interview performance, and the outcome is communicated with the offer letter.

Ques. What documents are required for the IMB application?

Ans. Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, all graduation mark sheets as a single PDF, the degree or provisional certificate, an updated curriculum vitae on the institute's template, photo identity proof, a digital passport size photograph, and the entrance test scorecard where applicable.

Admission fraud caution:

  • Applications are accepted only through the institute's own online admissions portal.
  • No agent or consultant is authorised to guarantee a seat in the IMB or IEMB program.
  • Application and admission payments are made only through the channels named in the offer letter.

Verify any admission communication with admissions@sdabocconiasiacenter.com or by calling +91 22 4086 7000 before making a payment. Dates and criteria on this page follow the institute's published admission documents for the cycle and are subject to revision by the institute.
