IIMC 2027: Programmes and Courses

IIMC 2027 offers two levels of programmes — two-year MA programmes and one-year PG Diploma programmes. All MA programmes and the four main PG Diploma programmes use CUET PG 2027 scores for admission. Four additional PG Diploma programmes in regional languages are filled through IIMC’s own institutional exam.

IIMC 2027 Eligibility Criteria

The IIMC 2027 eligibility criteria differ by programme type. You must meet the relevant requirements before applying for CUET PG 2027 or IIMC’s regional language exam.

For MA Programmes (via CUET PG 2027)

• You must be an Indian national.
• You must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least 55% marks. SC/ST/PwD candidates need a minimum of 50%.
• Final-year graduation students can apply, but must produce final marksheets at the time of admission.
• A valid CUET PG 2027 score in Mass Communication and Journalism (COQP17) is required.
• There is no upper age limit for MA programmes.

For PG Diploma Programmes (via CUET PG 2027)

• You must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in any discipline. Final-year students may apply.
• A valid CUET PG 2027 score in Mass Communication and Journalism is required.
• No minimum percentage is required for graduation at the PG Diploma level.

For PG Diploma in Regional Language Journalism (IIMC’s Own Exam)

• You must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
• You must have strong proficiency in the relevant regional language (Odia, Marathi, Malayalam, or Urdu), since the exam and programme are conducted in that language.
• Age Limit: 25 years for General category, 30 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates, as on August 1, 2027.

Reservation and NRI Seats

IIMC follows the Government of India’s reservation policy for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and PwD categories. In addition, 5 seats per course are reserved for NRI and NRI-sponsored candidates at each campus. NRI candidates must meet the same academic eligibility criteria as Indian nationals.

Provisional admission is cancelled if a candidate cannot produce graduation marksheets with the minimum required percentage at the time of final admission. This applies even if you cleared CUET PG or IIMC’s own exam.

IIMC 2027 Application Process

The IIMC 2027 application process has two separate tracks. First, you apply for CUET PG 2027 on NTA’s portal if you want any of the MA or main PG Diploma programmes. Second, you register on IIMC’s counselling portal after the CUET PG result. If you also want a regional language programme, you apply directly to IIMC for its institutional exam. These are all separate registrations.

How to Apply for CUET PG 2027

2. Create a new account with your email ID and mobile number.
3. Fill in personal details, academic qualifications, and select Mass Communication and Journalism (COQP17) as your test paper.
4. Upload your photograph and signature as per NTA’s specifications.
5. Pay the CUET PG 2027 application fee online. The fee is announced by NTA — in recent years it has been approximately Rs. 300-600 depending on category.
6. Submit the form and download your confirmation page.

How to Apply for IIMC’s Regional Language Exam

If you are applying for Odia, Marathi, Malayalam, or Urdu journalism, you must also apply separately for IIMC’s institutional exam via iimc.gov.in when the notification is released. The form requires personal and academic details, proof of regional language proficiency, and payment of the application fee as specified in the notification.

How to Register for IIMC 2027 Counselling (After CUET PG Result)

Once CUET PG 2027 results are out, you register for e-counselling at iimc.admissions.nic.in. You fill in programme preferences, pay the counselling fee, and wait for seat allotment. If allotted, you pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs. 20,000 to confirm your seat.

CUET PG registration and IIMC counselling registration are on two different portals. Applying for CUET PG does not automatically register you for IIMC counselling — you must complete both steps separately.

IIMC 2027 Admit Card

The IIMC 2027 admit card for CUET PG-based programmes is issued by NTA — you use the CUET PG hall ticket, not a separate IIMC document, to enter the exam centre. For IIMC’s regional language programmes, a separate admit card is released on iimc.gov.in a few days before the test.

How to Download CUET PG 2027 Admit Card

2. Log in with your application number and date of birth or password.
3. Download and print the admit card in colour on A4 paper.
4. Verify all details: name, roll number, exam date, exam shift, exam centre address, and photograph.
5. Report discrepancies immediately to NTA’s helpline — corrections are not possible at the exam centre.

The CUET PG 2027 admit card is expected in February-March 2027, approximately 7-10 days before the exam begins. In 2026, NTA released CUET PG admit cards just before the exam started on March 6.

You must carry a valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, or voter ID) along with your CUET PG admit card to the exam centre. Entry without both documents is not allowed.

IIMC 2027: Selection Process (GD and Interview)

The IIMC 2027 selection process goes beyond the written test. All shortlisted candidates must appear for a Group Discussion (GD) and/or Personal Interview (PI) at the IIMC campus they have been allotted. These rounds are mandatory — not appearing forfeits your seat regardless of CUET PG rank.

Group Discussion (10 Marks)

For CUET PG 2027 (Mass Communication and Journalism — COQP17)

• Read a national newspaper every day. Focus on media industry developments, government policies, social issues, and international affairs. Current affairs questions carry significant weight in the CUET PG Mass Communication paper.
• Build strong conceptual knowledge of communication theory. Study Denis McQuail’s Mass Communication Theory, Wilbur Schramm’s writings, and Siebert’s Four Theories of the Press. Know models, their applications, and critiques.
