NCERT Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 8 Comparing Quantities Exercise 8.1 is provided as a pdf file in the article below. Exercise 8.1 is based on the concepts of comparing two quantities, equivalent ratios, and keeping things in proportions to get solutions.
Different ratios can be compared even if they are equivalent to each other or not. For this, ratios are written as fractions and compared by converting them into like fractions. When the two fractions are equal, the ratios are said to be equivalent. Similarly, when to ratios are equivalent, the four quantities involved are said to be in proportion.

Example From Class 7 Chapter 8 Comparing Quantities
| Ques. Determine the ratio: (i) 5 km to 400 m (ii) 2 hours to 160 minutes Ans. (i) 5 km = 5 × 1000 = 5000 m Therefore, The ratio of 5 km to 400 m = 5000 m : 400 m = 25 : 2 Thus, the required ratio = 25:2 (ii) 2 hours = 2 × 60 = 120 minutes Therefore, the ratio of 2 hours to 160 minutes = 120 : 160 = 3 : 4 Thus, the required ratio = 3:4 |
