Examples From Chapter 4 Practical Geometry

Ex.1 Construct a rectangle MIST where MI=7cm, IS=5cm.

Soln:

  1. First, let’s draw line segment MI = 7cm.
  2. Keeping M as a center, let’s construct an angle of 90⁰. Next, we draw ray YM.
  3.  Let’s draw an arc with a radius of 5cm keeping M as the center and mark it as T.
  4.  Next, let's construct a 90⁰ angle as in step 2, and keeping I as a center and with a radius of 5cm let’s draw an arc on the angle and name it as S.
  5. Next, let’s join ST.
  6. Hence, MIST is the required rectangle.

Ex.2 Fill in the blanks:

  1. Number of sides in the decagon are________.
  2. The adjacent angles of _____are supplementary.

Soln:
