Examples From Chapter 4 Practical Geometry

Ex.1 Construct Quadrilateral GOLD. OL = 7.5cm, GL = 6 cm, GD = 6 cm, LD = 5 cm, OD = 10 cm.

Soln:

  1. First, let’s draw LD = 5 cm.
  2. Keeping L as the center and radius LG = 6 cm, let’s draw an arc.
  3. Keeping D as the center and radius DG = 6 cm, let’s draw another arc to intersect the arc of step 2 at G.
  4. Keeping L as the center and radius LO = 7.5 cm, let’s draw an arc.
  5. Next,  keeping D as the center and radius DO = 10 cm, we draw another arc to intersect the arc of step 4 at O.
  6. Now, we join DG, GO, OL, LG, and DO.
  7. Hence, GOLD is the quadrilateral.
