OFFLINE TEST

    SAT Result, Scoring System, Score Verification and Score Cancellation

    SAT Results are usually declared within three weeks after the test day. The results are made live on the College Board profile of the test takers. Candidates can check their result through online score report which is available online. Students may log in using their User ID and Password. Within 10 days of the release of result, the scores are sent to the colleges. 

    Latest: SAT Result for the exam conducted October 5, 2019 has been available on the official website. Scores of MCQs were out on October 18, 2019 while essay score will be available till October 23, 2019. 

    SAT Scores are scaled on a range of 400-1600. The raw score achieved by students is converted to a scale of 200-400 for each section. Essays are scored separately from the mock test paper. Essays are scored on a scale of 2-8.

    • Scores of SAT exam can be sent to college using Score Choice from College Board. 
    • Students can send up to 4 scores for free prior to which services charges are applicable each time. 
    • If a student is not satisfied with his result, he/she can opt for score verification. 
    • Student can opt for score cancellation if he/she feels he/she has not performed well on his/her SAT. Check SAT Percentile Score

    How to Check SAT Score?

    ​Score reports can be accessed by the student on their College Board profile. The steps for accession the same is given below:

    1. Visit the official website i.e. studentscores.collegeboard.org
    2. Sign in using your user ID and password.

    2. Click on SAT Scores
    3. Click on  Access My Scores 
    4. Enter username and password
    5. Click on "My Test Scores" box
    6. Your SAT score will be displayed on the screen
    7. Students can send their score reports by phone or mail to the colleges they are eligible for using Score Choice

    Alternatives to check SAT Score

    Apart from using the online portal of Collegeboard to access SAT result, there are few other ways through which the candidates can check their result. Below mentioned are the same:

    Paper Score Reports: Candidates who do not have an active college board online portal and they have registered through the mail, will receive paper score reports.

    • Registration through mail is also known as Paper Registration. 
    • Paper registration is done for the candidates who are taking Sunday Testing for the first time. It is to be noted that Sunday Test is taken by the candidates who could not take a Saturday test due to religious reasons. 
    • In case a candidate is paying through Check or Money Order, they have to do paper registration. 
    • SAT can be taken by anyone, candidates below age of 13 have to register themselves through mail only. 
    • In case a candidate is unable to upload their photograph in online mode can opt for paper registration. 

    Printing Score: This could be done through the online college board portal. Candidates have to click on “View Details” and then download the report.  

    Score through Phone: Candidates may also get their result on their phone from the day when the result is available. This process requires an extra fee. Domestic candidates can contact at 866-756-7346 while international candidates can contact at 212-713-7789 to get the score.

    SAT Essay Scoring

    • Essays are scored by two different graders. 
    • Each grader scores the essay on a range of 1-4 for each dimension – reading, writing, and analysis. 
    • The scores graded by the two people are then added to get the final scores. 
    • Students receive three separate scores, one for each dimension, between 2-8.
    • The three scores are not added together; nor is there any percentile score for the essay.

    SAT Score Verification

    • Students can request Score Verification for a charge, in case they are not satisfied with their scores
    • The request can be made until five months after the test date
    • A booklet with SAT questions and answered marked by the student is provided
    • In some case, the entire answer sheet is scored again manually
    • If any errors are found in the scoring, the verification charges are refunded
    • The scores are updated automatically after the verification
    • Student can request this service online or by mail by filling the SAT Score Verification form

    SAT Score Cancellation

    • If a student feels he/she has not performed well on his/her SAT, he/she can request an SAT Score Cancellation.
    • The request must be received before 11:59 P.M. on the Thursday following the test date
    • This service cannot be availed online or by phone due to signature requirement
    • The request can be made – at the test centre and after leaving the test centre

    At the Test Center

    • Ask the coordinator at the end of the test for a Request to Cancel Test Score form
    • Complete the form
    • Submit it with the coordinator

    After Leaving the Test Center

    • Download the form from the College Board website
    • Information to be provided for score cancellation –
      • Test date
      • Test centre number
      • Name of test you are cancelling—either the SAT or SAT Subject Test(s)
      • Name, address, sex, birth date and registration number
      • Signature
    • Send a written request with signature along with the completed form via fax or mail
    • The mail or fax label must read: "Attention: SAT Score Cancellation."
    • The cancellation fee can be paid by check or money order

    How to Send SAT Score?

    Candidates must send the official score report from the college board to the colleges. The colleges do not accept the copies of the online score report or score report labels on transcripts. Candidates may ask the college board to send the score before or after the test day. 

    Before Test:

    • A maximum of four free score reports can be sent to the colleges every time a candidate register for the SAT.
    • There is no additional fee required to send SAT score. 

    After Test

    • Candidates may send four free score reports to colleges up to nine days after the test. 
    • An additional fee is required after sending 4 score reports unless a candidate is eligible for SAT Fee Waiver. 

    Score Choice

    Candidates may send their score choice to the colleges itself. By using the same, candidates can send their choice of score to the admired colleges. 

    • Candidates may choose the score of tests they have already taken. 
    • There is no extra fee required to choose which score can be sent to a single college. 
    • Candidates have an option to send both old and new scores.
